This is a cute and cozy boba/bubble tea shop located in East side St. Paul, by Maryland and Arcade that I was so excited to try because of the great reviews and instagram worthy pics! I'm glad I did because of the pretty drink and super chick environment (chalk wall, pretty lights and cute decorations) BUT it was definitely over priced! $7 for a bottle of boba- you're basically paying for the plastic bottle, which btw reminds me of the Voss water bottle. I got the sunrise (mango flavored) in a bottle with regular tapioca pearls and sweetest level 1. When you order you can choose your sweetest level- 1 to 4. Overall, the boba was ahh just mediocre- a bit too sweet even when I got the lowest sweetest level (maybe due to artificial sweeteners??) and honestly there wasn't much mango flavored...but I'm optimistic because they just opened and still in trial & error phrase! The service was fine- the friendly young lady who made my drink seemed a bit uncomfortable though, which always makes me a bit nervous! Also, I think it'll be cool if there was a discount offered for customers who reuse their bottle, it'll save them money, time and be more eco-friendly- just saying! Tip- there is a super small parking in the back that is shared with other local businesses nearby, otherwise limited street parking works too! This is our first time visiting Boba and Tea. We were running errands and spotted this neighborhood place that was a perfect refresher break. The decor is fresh, bright and floral. They sell more sophisticated glass bottles for an upcharge or you can get a traditional bubble tea cup. I wasn't overly impressed with the tea and it was super sweet - they give you the choice of your sweetness level and I just went with the regular but next time I'd choose something less sugary. My friend ordered the milk tea and said it tasted kind of watery. They offer punch cards for rewards and when we went over the summer they had a special on bubbly, effervescent bubble teas that looked unique. Forget any other bubble tea place you've ever been to, because this place is the GREATEST. I'm telling you guys, I have very low standards for bubble tea because I've never had any good kind, but this place just blasted my standards to astronomical heights!! Their northern light series ARE TO DIE FOR! I can never just have one, two is my standard when I visit. I recommend trying the moonlight, sunrise, and pink dragon. I came for the strawberry matcha with boba but they have a ton of fun drinks to choose from. I will say their strawberry in the strawberry matcha was a little bit chunkier than I'm used to but it still tasted really nice. FINALLY! After such a long wait, I was able to get a chance to check this place out. It was really hyped for awhile and every time I went, it was super busy and lines were long! I stopped by a Friday afternoon, and there was no other customer besides myself. YAY! I think the drink I ordered was the moonlight drink plus jelly. The drink itself looks really pretty, and if I had those cups that made these drinks so hyped up-- it would've completed it. Nevertheless, I still wanted to try the drinks and see what it's all about. To me, the drink I got is sweet. Adding the jellies made it a bit more sweet too. It took me awhile to actually finish the drink because I was taking sips of the drink. Forgot to mention, the staff was amazing and really nice! Small but inviting atmosphere! Definitely instagram worthy spot for boba tea. It was easy to fine and spot. There's a tiny parking lot behind the building. Entering from the back you'll immediately be greeted by a chalkboard wall. On the floor is a cute basket with chalks and an eraser. Lights strung alternatively across the ceiling and there were plenty of tables and chairs set up along the back wall. The menu was fairly small and easy to read. The best part is the closed cap bottles with the name printed. They were much smaller than what I thought would be from the pictures. However I was told it's 16oz and unfortunately they're not reusable. They're about $6 and the cup is $4. I got the Sunrise drink which is pretty much mango flavor. You have the option of choosing sweetness level. I wanted just a hint of sweetness since I was already adding an extra .50 for some jelly. I was recommended to go with the level 1, but I think it's still pretty sweet for a level 1. Once you're drink is ready, don't shake it yet. TAKE PICTURES! The layers will sit on top of each other and when you're done, shake it well and enjoy. I'd probably come back to try the rest. read more

Such a cute place! I love everything from the decor to the super sweet employees who helped made the decision making so much easier. They were so helpful in making suggestions and were so patient and we were trying to decide as first timers. The drinks are so beautiful and were surprisingly good. My only gripe is that they use flavored powders instead of real fruit, which I can always tell the difference, and they don't have a recycling program for their bottles. Just had to try this out after seeing people with those popular colored drinks. Went here one day and let me tell you, I took FOREVER to decide since they all looked so good. The famous Boba & Tea bottle is a bit expensive but you don't have to buy that. They also offer the regular bubbles tea cups. The staff the day I went in was very helpful with any questions I had as well as being patient with me. I left and came back 3 times each five minutes later since my friends wanted me to get a whole bunch. The staff didn't mind that I ordered a lot of drinks (I made sure to tip them good as well because of it!). Overall it was good. The only thing I didn't like is that some of the drinks after a day got this white clumpy deals in it (but it could've been an ingredient that is used in the drinks) so I did have to shake it often. read more

Made three attempts to stop by and hop on the bandwagon and try the new boba in the neighborhood. The first two times, the line were at the door. While in line, I asked some customers their wait time only to find out that they've waited for over an hour so we left. On this third attempt, we arrive 20 minutes after opening hours and there was already a line. We finally got to order, #17. We ordered Twilight, Sunrise, Cloud 9 & Moonlight. I'm glad this little spot is in the Saint Paul area. I've heard some friends complaining about the wait time because this spot just opened. The line was out the door by the time I got there and stayed the same when I was leaving. Average wait time reported by my friends ranged from 20 minutes to an hour. I waited for an hour to over an hour patiently. Not a big deal for me. So what's drawing everyone in? The souvenir bottles and layers of liquid/water/syrup/etc. Production was a bit slow and unable to keep up with the long line of customers. While waiting I noticed potential customers walking towards the shop and turning away due to the long line. Again, this place just opened and there is a lot of hype, therefore a lot of customers. I'm not giving this shop 3 stars for this reason. My girlfriend and I bought three drinks: Cloud 9 (Coconut and Lychee), Aurora (Kiwi and Green Apple), and Sunrise (Mango). As for taste, among the three I liked Aurora the best. The Cloud 9 tasted more of coconut and I could not make out the lychee. The Sunrise did not taste anything like Mango. I was getting more of a Peach tea and lemonade vibe from it. Some of my friends have complained that their drinks are too swert, but I think it is just fine the way it is. The drinks we had were filled with crushed ice (using a blender). I think in regards to texture, they were aiming for a shaved ice but I still had large ice chips in all three. For the most part, if you purchased a drink in their souvenir bottle, you'll have to shake your drink before consuming (they'll tell you the same thing). Once you do, the fancy layers disappear. Although we had little interaction with the staff, they seem like genuine people. A man who appeared to be either the manager and/or owner did start to offer customers waiting in line free samples (only because the staff made incorrect orders or a customer didn't claim their order). I did notice a staff member lock both front and rear doors around 7:30pm (they close at 8pm). This may be up to your discretion, I personally don't think businesses should close/lock doors before the posted times. Factor in grand opening week/long line of customers/etc. Your opinion is yours. It was understandable, but I hope this doesn't become a trend in the future. (I'm sure if the doors were kept open, the last order would not be completed until about 9pm). The parking lot is shared with two other businesses right on the corner of a very busy intersection (Maryland Ave. and Arcade St.). Parking may be a hassle if business continues to boom for this shop. Perhaps park around the neighbor hood and walk about 2-3 minutes. I do recommend that you try this out and see if it's for you. Personally, I've had better Boba tea, but Saint Paul definitely needed this little shop. I'm all for local businesses but it has to be good enough for me to want to go back. I'm hoping they'll work their quirks out once they're opening phase settles down. I'll give their other signature drinks a try definitely in the future but not anytime soon. The seating area is limited but still not a bad spot to meet up and socialize with anyone (lounge area is narrow). There are also two huge chalkboards (for scribbling/drawing/etc.). Both are along the same side. The other side/wall of the building is plain and may see potential decorations in the future. You may be wondering about prices. If you want the signature bottle, it is an additional $1.50 charge. If you're paying by debit/credit card, there will be an additional charge of 2.7~% or so. I recommend bringing cash. read more
