I hired Bob Sidoti Floors to refinish my hardwood floors that haven't been refinished since I built my house 31 years ago. A few things to note: 1) His website is excellent and has a ton of useful info. 2) His method is dustless and was the only dustless refinisher I could find that serves my area. 3) His price was by far the best of the 4 different companies that quoted the job. 4) His crew were very careful, meticulous and did an excellent job. Total jerk. Jacked me around for over a week and then didn't show up for the job. Learned later that his guys didn't want to do the job because I asked them to try their best to match the finish of the risers below the treads that they would be refinishing. Claimed our electrician walked on them when leaving &he had to go over them again. $460for that. $240 for the stairs to look like this. Said there was nothing he could do to make them better. Nothing but excuses. My floors looked better before. I am embarrassed to let anyone know I spent $3600 for my floors to look like this. After complaining, he knocked $60 off total. read more

They helped move furniture when I was unprepared and took all scraps and collected dust from their machinery outside. I had bob sidoti refinish my floors. The problems started when they arrived at my home with one stain. When I said I did not request that stain, I was told that's what I asked for which was not true. I asked to see other colors and was told to pick out 3. When I decided on another stain, I could tell that they didn't have it so I offered to go to the local store to get it to see if it would work on our floors. when I returned with the stain I was pleased with the color. Of course they did not offer to get it for us so I had to go to 2 different stores to get the product. when Bob gave me the price that I owed him I informed him that I had purchased the product and that should be deducted from my bill. He took off $30 which was far less than what I paid for it. So fast forward to yesterday. I noticed there were some issues with some areas around the railings where they did not finish it off properly. I called Bob and he said he would call me back. He didnt. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and called him today and got no response so I sent a notice through his site. No response. I would never recommend using them. read more

In April 2014, I contacted Bob Sidoti, Owner of Bob Sidoti Floors after having read his web site and his customer reviews on Yelp, Google and Angie's List. Based on the mostly positive reviews, yet a bit concerned about the negative ones, I moved forward and hired him and his crew to perform a relatively small wood floor refinishing project in our home. Specifically, to refinish the existing 14-yr. old, 128 sq. ft. area of maple wood strip flooring in the kitchen of our home. I sent to Bob an email with photos of our kitchen that helped him see the setup and the floor, that allowed him to provide me with a cost quote for the work, without his actually coming to our house. Since the kitchen wood flooring is maple that originally had a natural finish, we did not need any finish stain applied, just the polyurethane. I realize that this is a small project and the cost had to be sufficient to be worthwhile for a vendor to mobilize his crew for a full day job. We agreed that his crew would perform his 'PLATINUM' wood floor refinishing package for a fixed price of $725 plus 7% NJ sales tax, as specified below to be paid upon the completion of this one-day project. Three additional aspects that appealed to me was that Bob Sidoti uses the Dustless Floor Sanding technique, accepts payment via a major credit card and, as per his web site, that he guarantees his work for 10 years under normal household conditions, or he will recoat the floor at no cost to us. At 7:45 a.m. on the scheduled work day, I get a tel. call from Bob Sidoti and he tells me that he "is running late...". I said "OK, so when will you and your crew be arriving at my house?" He responded "probably around 1:00 p.m., and explained that he did not finish a project from the day prior and had to go their first. I was surprised and upset and told him that was unacceptable and not what we had agreed to and insisted that he needs to arrive and start my work this morning. He said he would call me back once he got to his other, unfinished job. At 10:30 a.m. he finally calls me to say that he still expects to arrive at my home with his crew by 1:00 p.m. I say ok, but that I anticipate that he will only be able to sand the floor and apply one, possibly two coats of the polyurethane today and will have to come back tomorrow with his crew to apply the third coat. I say that with the high humidity outside today, I did not think that the poly coats would have sufficient drying time to allow 3 applications with just a half day left. He said "we will see...and that he has another appointment scheduled for Friday morning". I told him that I did not want to be short changed due to his scheduling problems. So 1:00 p.m. comes and goes and he is still a "No Show". I call him at 1:30 p.m. and ask where is he and when does he expect to arrive. He said that he is still at the same job and that due to the high humidity, that I was right about the long drying time and that he will call me back. By 3:00 p.m. I had yet to hear back from him and placed calls and left v.m. messages at his office and on his cell tel. By 5:00 p.m. with no response, I realized that I have been screwed by Bob Sidoti and left out to dry since he obviously does not want my business. Hence, I made a very bad choice by attempting to work with him since he did not deliver what he said he would do and did not even have the courtesy to contact me before the end of the day to explain, let alone apologize or attempt to reschedule. With my now 20/20 hindsight, as some other reviewers have implied, he does have an attitude and comes across as "Used Car Salesman", totally unprofessional and unethical and he can be very defensive and dismissive of other ideas since he is the expert. My sense and speculation is that he just wants to get in and out of the project and collect his money. It is very frustrating and irritating, to say the least, that this guy is so cavalier about making assurances or commitments that he does not keep or come through for people to whom he has committed to, both verbally and in writing, (email). He just decided to sacrifice my small job in order to finish a previous job that he had underestimated the required time to complete, which is a sad commentary on his so-called expertise, let alone any sort of professional integrity. My advice to other consumers looking for wood floor refinishing work: DO NOT WASTE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME AND EFFORTS WITH BOB SIDOTI...! Go with someone else. read more

WARNING, DO NOT HIRE !! He screwed me, single mom, over a $725 job. No integrity, unprofessional, and lies!! My story: I have white oak floors with clear polyurethane, satin finish,through out my entire home and had 2 small bedrooms that needed hardwood floors refinished. I communicated with Bob Sidoti himself, over the phone, that I had white oak floors and wanted the floors refinished without stain and a with a satin finish. I even told him the polyurethane I wanted him to use (street shoe) as I know what they used on the rest of the house. Bob sent 3 guys a few days later to do the job. I came home just when they where finishing up, and the floors look pretty good for what I could see, as the floors were wet. Later that evening I went up to look at the floors, now dry enough to walk on, and I noticed that the floors were a different color than the hallway.( I hadn't noticed earlier, because they were wet.) I called Bob immediately and said the guys used a color on the floors. I even sent him pictures to show the line of the darker color in my doorway. He tried to tell me my other floors had oxidized and they used no color. While on the phone still, I looked at my new white molding I had installed and saw the color (they didn't apply) splattered all over them. When I told him about it, he then tried to tell me that all not all ployurenthenes dry clear. (it does unless it's tinted ) I said "your guys see the entire rest of the house is white oak with nothing on them, why would they use a poly that has a color?" he then proceeded to argue with me, saying that his floors look better and mine look yellow and said I asked for 'natural' and that's what he told them to put on. (natural is also a hardwood flooring color) So 1st Bob says "the older finished floors were oxidized " (they were refinished with clear poly last December) Then.. "Not all polys dry clear" (they do unless you tint the poly) Then... "I asked for natural and that's what I got." (I said, I'd wanted no stain, satin finish... Just keep them natural) He said he was at the beach and would stop by the following Wed. I said OK. I then texted him later on saying they needed to redone. The line of color demarcation at the doorway was very noticeable. He never responded. Never showed up on Wednesday either More notes: I ran my ex's hardwood flooring company for many years. I was recommended by a friend and we could not be happier with our results. We called Bob last Friday to discuss the work needed to be done - he was at our house Saturday morning and then started work Monday afternoon. We asked them to match the hallway floors and they look amazing. They even did inside the closet flawlessly and fixed a missing board! We had a horrible experience with this business. They refinished floors on the first and second floors of our house. The quality of the work was extremely poor. When we asked Bob, he said it was normal for the stain to be splattered allover the baseboards and the treads of the stairs. The stain was also unevenly applied on certain areas of the floor. The company that painted our house also commented that the sloppiness was unlike anything they had ever seen. Bob was not present to supervise most of the work and his crew did a very rush job. Two days later, we found the stain pool into puddles in certain areas. We emailed and called Bob and he never followed up. He also never delivered the saddles for two of the closets. He blamed it on his supplier. I still can't believe how much money we paid him and what inferior work and poor customer service we received. I wish that we had hired another company. read more

Stain was everywhere-walls, risers, etc. Dustless, but at the expense of the corners of the house, where the paint and spackle were rubbed off. No return of phone calls. Never again. We pulled up the carpet in the bedrooms of our new house and there were tons of scratches, black stains from the old nails and staples, and white paint splattered everywhere on the hardwood underneath. A friend recommended Bob Sidoti, so we reached out to him and were able to schedule an appointment to have them done within a week. His team came on time and did an amazing job, we couldn't believe how great the wood looked after they sanded it down and applied the stain. While the color is not an EXACT match to the rest of the hardwood on that level, we actually like the new look better than the existing color in the other rooms and are already saying we will probably give them a call to come back and do the rest of the floors in the future. Also want to note that the price was great and that Bob was very accessible during the process - we were able to text him to ask questions about when we can walk on the floors and move furniture into the rooms, and he was very responsive. When we purchased our new home we knew we wanted to refinish the floors. Bob Sidoti refinished and stained over 1000 sq ft of flooring in 2 days, and they look brand new! We could not believe our eyes when we walked into the house and saw what they were able to accomplish in such a short amount of time. With the water base finish we were able to have the painters there the next day, which was amazing! We recently had Sidoti Floors refinish 3 rooms in our house..living room, dining room and main hallway. We are repeat customers, as a few years ago they came and refinished the office and den. Their service and equipment are professional and it is amazing that there is no dust. We are just as amazed this second time around as to how well the job was done in an fast and efficient manner. We used the Platinum package both times and are very pleased with the finish. Both times the work was completed in 1 day and by evening we could walk on it with socks. ONE STAR IS ONE TOO MANY... As a highly productive real estate agent for the last twelve years, I tell my clients to ask me for a referral for contractors as many of them have to get their properties cleaned and or fixed up prior to my listing and marketing their homes. I tell them that, "after a dozen years in the business, I am able to tell you who to use and more over, I will tell you who to STAY AWAY FROM!" Bob Sidoti was actually referred to me by a trusted source. I told Sidoti that I needed the work completed ASAP, as my other floor guy failed to show up on Friday (this was Friday 01/22). When Sidoti quoted us almost TWICE THE PRICE =$5,000 for the job, I told him that my other guy was doing the same work for $2,700. He hemmed and hawed but eventually he said the lowest he could go was $3,700.. Desperate to complete within a specific timeframe, we agreed. He showed up within the hour to start the job. Keep in mind starting and finishing quickly was the only way he was getting the job. On Sunday I reached out to gage his schedule on completing the job, as I have other trades who needed to get back into the house... after not responding to an attempt to communicate on the schedule for the upcoming week, since we were all about the timing for getting this project completed. NO RESPONSE. When Sidoti finally responded, it was Monday morning to tell me his guys were at the job and could not get in. I gave him the code to get his guys in. That was 8:05 a.m., however when I showed up at noon, I come to find that he went into the house just to retrieve his belongings and left to go to another job. When I attempted to communicate with him to inquire as to what the heck happened to him and/or his crew, I received ZERO response. It's now four days later. Luckily he was not paid a dime in advance. In the end, Sidoti CHOSE to take the job while NOT getting his ridiculous price. What happened is he knew he had another job starting today and he must have realized over the weekend that my job wasn't as important as the one where we was probably getting twice the price, so he chose to cut out in the middle of my job. I have never experienced this kind of unprofessional behavior. I can only imagine after 30 years, how many people the guy has screwed over. As a professional who refers dozens of contractors every year, Bob Sidoti has managed to get on my CRAP LIST. Sidoti may do good work but so could a blind man - it's hard wood floors! He may do good work if he actually shows up and doesn't leave the job in the middle, or worse yet, just leaves the job altogether like he did on my job.
