Southwest omelet without cheese upon my request
    Misty J.

Food and service was great. Nothing better than subbing across a hole in the wall and enjoying every bite.

We were passing through town on Sunday afternoon and went off the beaten path for this meal. It has a cool divey country diner vibe. Clean table and dining area - we sat in the back dining room. Clean single stall for a ladies' room. The initial server interaction was a bit strange. My husband had a few questions about the menu and the server seemed reluctant to participate in the conversation. It wasn't overly busy, so it was an awkward exchange. The 2nd server that took our actual order was more engaging. I ordered a bacon and cheese omelette and received a cheese omelette. It was a mistake in the kitchen. At my request, the server promptly cured it with a side of bacon that looked like a descent pieces of bacon, but microwaved on a small side plate. My husband ordered french toast and it looked great. Unfortunately, all pieces were room temp on the outside and refrigerator cold on the inside, so he didn't finish it. I tried my side of pancakes and had the exact same issue, so I did not finish them. In hindsight, our food was served very quickly. Which I would not usually complain about, but it is evident that they have precooked meals and not cooked to order. Maybe if they were heated thoroughly we would not have known that they were not fresh off the griddle. Honestly, I would rather wait a little longer for a quality meal cooked to order than to be served cold food fast. While we were waiting for the check, we heard another patron say, "it's not hot at all, but it has good flavor." Having already corrected the omelette, we did not report our concern over the cold food. Our server promptly bussed our table, but after waiting 10 mins for the check, my husband had to walk to the front to inquire about the process to pay. We didn't realize we needed to pay up front without an actual check issued at the table. We paid and we left. We really wanted to like the place, but unfortunately it fell short today. I don't usually like to leave a negative review, but this place earned the constructive remarks. Maybe it was an off day, but we were passing through so we have no idea if this is a consistent service.

Good service, clean environment, friendly staff, reasonable prices. We are traveling through town and glad we stopped here for breakfast.

Service was great! Food was delicious!! Both the Corn Beef Hash and the Italian sausage with eggs were to die for! Found this cute little hidden gem traveling from Clayton, NM to Pagosa Springs, Co in beautiful Trinidad, CO. Will definitely come back whenever we pass through again.

Delightful staff and a solid breakfast - portions are large so plan accordingly. It's a really cute place as well - cosy and welcoming.

And while there were several really great looking restaurants in the area, it was even too much effort to order delivery. So we pulled up the menu for Gagliardi's and ordered Fried Green Tomatoes, Chicken Fried Elk, and Chicken Piccata. All three items were amazing. No regrets, no notes, other than I feel like the packaging could be a little different. Something that retains heat a bit better or some kind of package that doesn't feel like our fried items will melt the package would be better. But obviously as you can see, that didn't affect my rating at all because everything was so yummy. Yes, the meal was pricey, but I feel like it was worth it.

Came out without onion or pickles and completely dry. No Mayo, mustard, ketchup, aioli, thousand island, nothing. Just dry. Burger was overcooked to beyond recognition and had zero flavor. Really it was the only thing to taste since nothing else was available, and surprisingly there was zero flavor. Just dry and a reminder that a trip to Burger King would have been 100x better and I hate BK. In fairness, I will say they generally do a better job. But tonight I left disappointed and mad at such a crappy meal. Service was pretty good overall but the waitress made no effort to discount the meal, offer another item that the check was prepared to make, like a PB&J sandwich, etc. I ate it so I would have paid regardless, but at least make an effort in a difficult situation. Overall I blame the management for not stocking the kitchen or training the staff how to handle their failures.

Elk sausage, mushrooms, green chile, ooey gooey cheese, and oh my, my tastebuds came alive! The crust had just the right amount of crisp on the bottom, while the sauce had a delicious complimentary exchange with the ingredients. I ate way more than what I'd normally eat for lunch! Then to top that off, I was offered hot honey to finish off the crust that was absolutely fantabulous on it's own. This was the perfect way to complete an amazing pie! It was so good, that we ate the leftovers for dinner, and we were just as pleased, minus the great company that the restaurant offers with their local vibe and interest in your experience. Super cool folks! I also, out of curiosity, ordered a single slice with my go-to favorite... hamburger, pineapple, jalapeno, and extra cheese. It was tantalizing! On a hot Spring day, you can't go wrong with a cool drink and an amazing pie at the new Las Animas Pizza!

Been around about 30 years and from what I learned Trinidad and surrounding farms have a good sized Italian population. Not surprised. Had a nice conversation with the owner and her daughter about their Chicago relatives they barely know snd those I know with the same surname Monteleone. As for the good it was good. I'm spoiled and used to neighborhood homemade and other specialities in Chicago so I'm picky but I have to say the special SW Hatch Chili Italian sausage patty sandwich was right on time and pretty large. It's a nice take on their SW New Mexico heritage. Their owner was nice to. A sweeter but spicy sauce. A great contrast. They have all the standard neighborhood imported specialties for sale. Saw a few return tourists drop in while bead there. On a side note, if you're in Trinidad looking fir breakfast you best get in any place that might be open before 11am or you got nothing coming. These folks stop the eggs and bacon on the dot! I missed out at three places before I fortunately made it into Monteleone's deli for a bite. I'm still stuffed at 830 pm. I will be in Trinidad again and will stop in.

It is full of locally produced meats and cheeses that you would find in specialty stores. I purchased some of the spicy peperoni and mixed olives. Sandwiches are good too. Unfortunately, the fresh goat cheese was not in season, but they have quite the selection. A bit pricy, however, this is a small operation and they different economies of scale than the big players. When in town, I will always buy my deli products here.
