If you're the world's greatest gigolo, you could take them home and make the kind of movie their parents warned them about. If you're me, you say, "I'm taking y'all to the punkest bar in Munich." This place is unadulterated rock and roll. It hits you before you even make it down the smokey stairs. The smell of piss, beer, and puke, I mean. But that is also the smell of rock and roll. Most folks here wear a lot of black, but I somehow always to find my way here when I'm wearing something like a pink t-shirt or a white button-down. No big deal. Everyone is too cool busy minding their own business to give a rat's ass. Foosball, darts, and pool are in the back and around the corner. Tables are everywhere. Everyone is friendly and perpetually in a good mood. Must be something in the leather and spikes. Or maybe the hair dye. Or maybe the great prices on shots of liquor. Beer prices are average, but the liquor prices are great. If you really love your punk and metal, and you're nice, you'll probably eventually get into a cool conversation with the bartenders about their first viewing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, comparing scuba diving notes, or debating the merits of early versus later albums from Bad Religion. Oh, and if you're really, really nice, you might even end up staying here until 5:30 AM with two hot girls.

Flex is one of the very few Munich pubs/music places that is not trying to adapt to every mainstream or Schicki-Micki (.yeah that how we call the snobby upper-class heros and their chicks here in Munich ( @ all the ladies here who might think this is ment to be chauvinistic. I reflected quite some minutes before it wrote down that word. but sorry, there is nothing really close to it ;-) .. you will understand.) who drive the cars paid by their dads, wearing pink Polos with some CK or whatever logos. hej I should get back to the Flex: good music (focus on Indie, Gothic, Punk, Rock. depending on the DJ and weekday), an awesome beer menu and cocktails, fruit juices Drinks are ordered at the bar :-) for details just have a look at: http://www.flex-muenchen.de How to get there: Underground station Sendlinger Tor will bring you close enough just a five minutes walk from there P.S.: yessss, one star is missing: absolute catastrophic situation about parking. (but its anyhow not a good idea to come by car ;-) NO NO NO: DUI

Beer culture is deeply entrenched in Germany, complete with a 500-year old beer purity law,…read moreReinheitsgebot, that strictly limits a beer's composition to only water, barley, and hops, beer's most basic ingredients. Its continuing legacy manifests as an astonishing German loyalty to their own beers, the scarcity of foreign beers, and the long shadow it casts on any domestic craft brewing. Still, if you look, microbrews exist and Tap House is a great place to find some. Modeled after American craft beer pubs, it captures the style in a dark wood look, with an impressively long bar alongside a row of bar-high tables with benches. The nearly two dozen taps heavily feature Camba Bavaria beers, a prolific domestic craft brewer that not only experiments with innovative and decidedly un-German styles, but also brews classic German styles consistent with Reinheitsgebot. Other taps and the extensive bottle list feature European microbrews, offering a wide range of styles, including sours. There's a good Belgian classics section, and a few Mikkeller's from neighboring Denmark. All served in appropriate glassware. Food and snacks are basic and unremarkable. The "tapas" platter is a bread/pretzel basket and six jars of accompaniments: prosciutto, pepperoni, slaw, diced tomatoes/onions, and two dips. Pizza was light, essentially thin flatbread. Peanuts, in a generous portion, came in a paper cone. Chips are a bag of chips, balsamic vinegar-flavored. Well worth visiting for a break from classic German beer styles to try some German microbrews, but aside from a snack, plan on eating elsewhere.
