The cupcakes have no name on them at the display so when I proceeded to ask the worker which ones were which, she directed me to the menu above and told me to read it. A menu with no pictures, just wording and the cupcakes below did not appear to follow the wording. For instance, root beer float infused cupcakes looked like a rainbow cupcake with a cherry on top. How am I supposed to know that's a root beer float? Common courtesy goes a long way. I did not receive that here and the worker was very annoyed by my questions. I kept it simple not to bother her and just got 4 cupcakes. I'll be back for sure because the cupcakes were so darn good but I hope I get better service next time. read more

Came across this little shop while walking the boardwalk and we decided to try it out, got the candy bar cupcake (chocolate cake, vanilla frosting with candy on top) moist cake but the frosting was too sweet for my liking, and too much of it. Coconut macaroon was delish. We decided to grab some more goodies before we left, cheesecake delicious, strawberries and cream couldn't try because the strawberry on top went bad after only a few days of having purchased it. Red velvet is delicious, love the cream cheese frosting that tastes like cream cheese more than other bake shops make it. TBH, I thought Boardwalk Cupcake was just another lame, gimmicky shop named after the boardwalk with a pretty storefront and nothing exciting to offer. Then I got curious and walked closer to check out their menu. Okay, these cupcakes have alcohol--and they're gorgeously decorated--I was sold. I'm not a cupcake fanatic, but I have to say that these are some of the most gorgeous cupcakes I've ever laid my eyes on. They're beautifully decorated and as the magic word goes for food Instagrammers, they're COLORFUL. The one thing I found difficult is that although the cupcakes all have catchy names, they don't list out the ingredients or what kind of cupcakes each of them are. I got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch (red velvet with Fireball, Whiskey, and Rumchata). I am obsessed with anything red velvet flavored, so naturally, I was so excited to try a red velvet cake with a spin on it. Maybe I was overwhelmed by the Fireball candies first, but I honestly could not taste the cocoa flavor in what was supposed to be the red velvet cupcake--it just didn't taste like anything but a cake soaked in red food dye. Since it's named the "Cinnamon Toast Crunch," I was also expecting some taste resemblance to live up to its name, but I guess the cinnamon part was really just the Fireball candies and the cupcake was soaked with whiskey and rumchata because the cupcake had no flavor. A little annoyed with this place. I won't comment on the food but I will say that a stop here did leave my wife and I feeling very ripped off. You see, there are two broad categories of cupcakes for sale - regular old crazy varieties and crazy varieties with booze in them. The first category goes for a bargain basement price of $19 for a six-pack. The alcohol imbued cakes are set at $19.50 for a six-pack. So what happened was that my wife purchased a six pack and included one of the boozey cupcakes - she didn't know it was one until the cashier asked, "This one has alcohol, is that okay?" My wife said yes, completed the transaction, and walked out. Once outside, she realized she had been charged $25 for six individual cupcakes. Apparently, you can't mix and match between the two categories to get a discount. The issue I have here is not the pricing but the fact that not even the slightest attempt was made to ensure we knew that we were about to take a 25% surcharge. I think these are pretty good as far as cupcakes go. I tried a death by chocolate (chocolate cake and whipped ganashe) and candy bomb (toffee bits, vanilla cake, Oreo filling, Reese's cup, Twix). Where did those descriptions come from? A picture of the board I took. Online they JUST list the names, and they aren't all self-explanatory. Why not just list everything online? You are a part of Caesar's and you have a page on their site, so it's not got to be that much effort to update a pdf. They are very rich, almost too rich, where you can't eat too much. At approximately $3 a pop, they are on the higher average of cupcake prices. They also have pretty limited hours outside of the summer. When I was there, the woman in front of me ordered about $100 worth of cupcakes and it took forever, but that's more the customer's fault than the employee's. It wouldn't make sense for them to have multiple employees if it usually isn't too busy. I'd say it's about a 3.5. It's decent, but thinking about it, if I go back to AC on the boardwalk and caught it when it was open, I wouldn't have a strong desire to come back. They were good to try once though. Also, the food counts towards the "spend $75 get free parking" but apparently they can only process that before the credit card, and even if you are holding both cards, they aren't going to let you know that first. read more

Delicious cupcakes. They even have some with alcohol. They dont keep a lot on hand so I highly recommend you place a special order ahead of time since this is their off peak season. I also like to bake with alcohol, but I cannot say I taste alcohol in their cupcakes which leaves me wondering how much they actually put in for what they are charging. The cupcakes are very good (and I do not consider myself to be a cake kinda gal). The cake itself is not overwhelmingly sweet and are fluffy and was still fluffy the next day. It's dusty, the supplies are not neatly displayed even though patrons can see them, the cupcake display windows were foggy, and it's not all that clean looking. Each time I have visiting Boardwalk Cupcakes, I have brought my cupcakes home to eat for dessert. They travel well and the icing on top does not melt. Boardwalk Cupcakes also offers sugar-free cupcakes like a vanilla base with a strawberry frosting. Boardwalk Cupcakes also offers boozy cupcakes, which are alcohol infused cupcakes. I have tried the butterscotch cupcake and a chocolate chip cookie cupcake. Both cupcakes tasted great however I do prefer the butterscotch cupcake. The butterscotch cupcake had a butterscotch crunch on top and the chocolate chip cupcake had a chocolate chip cookie on top. The cupcakes are decorated very well and this would be a great idea for a birthday party treat or a treat after walking on the boardwalk. The only recommendation that I would suggest to the shop would be adding a description for what each cupcake has in it in the display case. When you ask the employees at the shop they are short and very dismissive. The taste of the cupcake is why I keep coming back whenever I am in Atlantic City. 4 1/2 stars for taste and location however service and experience could be worked on further. read more

What a cute cupcake shop! They have all sorts of cupcakes for you to try...even ones with alcohol. Those were my favorite not only because I love alcohol but because they were so moist! My favorite was the Jack Daniels (very chocolatey and moist). Just to be warned...you do need to be at least 21 to try these delish alcohol cupcakes even though u can't even taste the liquor. Not 21? Don't you worry there are plenty of other cupcakes to try. I loved the banana cupcake...tasted just like the best banana bread. I had no idea there was a place where you can get alcohol infused desserts, but I was so happy I found this place! A group of my friends and I were celebrating my best friend's birthday at Caesars on a Saturday, and my friend and I wanted to give her something alternative to buying her a bottle. I looked up 'cake shops in AC' and Boardwalk Cupcakes was the first thing that popped up. I was even more excited to find out that they sold "intoxication" cupcakes. We bought a Margarita and Pina Colada cupcake, and they were the cutest! Our friend loved it, and was even more surprised to find out it actually tasted like the drink. Since I love cupcakes and travel a lot, whenever I see a new cupcake shop, Ive decided to always try out their Red Velvets to compare to my favorite shops! Boardwalk Cupcakes's red velvet was pretty perfect. I'm not a fan of whipped icing but this one was just right, the flavors were great and the cake was perfectly moist. The presentation of the red velvet was just plain, but I didn't mind. Plus, the cupcake was only $2.50 which is a steal because I pay $3.75 for a sprinkles cupcake in NYC. I also purchased the Velvet Elvis and Soda Pop and brought back home to NYC. My BF absolutely LOVED the Velvet Elvis! And I haven't tried soda pop yet but I had to buy a fancy cupcake because the presentation was too cute. It even had a small pink straw out the top! Loved this cupcake shop! There customers service- we walked in, and Bryan behind the counter, first words were " we have no boxes" not hello, as we waited to order he finished with another customer, and when it was our turn and we ordered, again he stated " we have no box if you order" I asked , if he at least had a bag, and he states yes "I guess I can give you a bag." Super moist, high quality cupcakes! This place seems to literally only be open 10% of the time I go down to Atlantic City. Do the bakers only work very specific days? We may never know. But I can say it was worth the wait. The Pina Colada cupcake, infused with alcohol, was ridiculously moist (perhaps the most moist cupcake I've ever had) and buttery with a perfect texture. Super fresh with good quality icing and toppings. All of the cupcakes on display had a solid presentation. Although it was an "intox" cupcake, the alcohol wasn't super noticeable as it wasn't overly strong which may be preferable anyway as it doesn't detract from the cupcake. They could prepare better since they were out of a majority of the intox cupcakes and the place seems to be closed more often than it's open. That probably contributes to the quality of the cupcakes but keep in mind going here it's a limited, rare treat only available sporadically. Also I haven't ever seen an employee look more disinterested than the one working here though I don't really blame her since I saw a few people come in, stare at the cupcakes for a while, ask questions, then leave without buying any so it probably does get tiresome. Even still, the employees' disinterest is probably costing this place sales. Overall I was happy paying $3.95 for an alcohol-infused cupcake (a fair price), and even happier this place was actually open and I was able to purchase the last Pina Colada cupcake. Walking down the board walk and noticed this little shop which happens to be at the entrance of the wild Wild West portion of ballys, upon entering we were greeted by a not so enthusiastic server..... however the cup cakes most definitely make up for the lack of customer service. The store is the only bright spot tucked away in that Twilight Zone between Caesars Palace and Bally's. When making a cupcake, the key ingredient is still cake. Unfortunately while a lot of attention went into the design and taste of the frosting, not much was applied to the cake. Like my fellow Yelper, I also went with the Banana Fudge cupcake. The cake portion was not moist, which probably dried up what little flavor was in there. Had it not been the frosting, the entire cupcake would have been my tongue's nightmare. I love this place! They have cupcakes with alcohol in them. The purple iced one has Chambord and Vanilla Vodka and is just delicious. I've also had the rum cupcake. It's good too, but the chambord is my favorite. My mother likes the carrot, and my daughter the chocolate and the red velvet. They are fresh and moist...and BIG! Boardwalk Cupcakes was the only cupcakery that showed up in my search, so of course this was a must. Located conveniently right off of the boardwalk and attached to Bally's, it's super easy to find. And the cupcakes are super good! I settled with a peanut butter cup one. It was DELICIOUS. Moist chocolate cake with a peanut butter frosting and peanut butter cups on top. Yum! My only regret is that when they asked if I wanted more than one, I said no.
