Dr. James has the highest credentials with many years experience and good bedside manners. State-of-the-art equipment used with complete examination performed. Let's just say that the one star reviews here are very accurate. Over the years I have gone to this eye doctor for my exams and the lady was a good doctor and very professional. I forgot her name. However I recently contacted them asking for my prescription info and the First Lady I spoke with told me that she wasn't aloud to give me that info because it was expired. After getting legal advice I called back and another lady answered the phone. She was very unpleasant over the phone and kept cutting me off but once they realized that I knew what I was talking about they gave me what I asked for. I am a professional myself and would never lie to one of my customers and that is exactly why I was so thrown off. I was given false info. Very unprofessional staff and an office administrative system stuck in the dark ages. Would not recommend. Among many, many other bad experiences I've had, I several times had the same experience as reviewer K B., showing up for an appointment a few minutes early and finding a dark office with a locked door, then upon staff arriving (late), made to feel like I somehow did something wrong or had inconvenienced them. I was once also met with a flat refusal to give me a written eyeglass prescription unless I committed to buying the frames from them (but their prices were way out of my price range and the styles were unappealing). This was after I had already had the exam and they'd run my insurance, so I was backed into a corner and unable to go somewhere else. It's truly.... wild how they run the place. read more

I have been seeing Dr. James since 2004. She is a very personable and knowledgeable doctor. She explains things very well and is very easy to talk with. I have received written prescriptions for my eyeglasses to take elsewhere and over the years I have done both; bought from her and bought other places. I usually have my appointments in the late afternoon after my work hours and I have had no issues with being seen. The office staff are professional and I have never had any issues. I personally have worked in the healthcare field for over 40 years myself and have not noticed anything unprofessional about this office. I have recommended people in the past and my 89 year old mother now sees Dr. James and loves her. I highly recommend. read more

They have the most up to date testing equipment and Nicole knows the ins and outs of using it properly. Joy and Shari are great at helping you find just the right glasses and fitting them properly. Dr. James is very nice and appears to know her stuff. However, when I arrived for my 1 p.m. appointment at 12:54, the office was locked and dark, nobody inside and no sign on the door. I walked home and called the office, leaving a message saying that I had been there and wondering if I had the wrong day (I knew I didn't, because I had the appointment card in my hand). At 1:11 Dr. James' receptionist called, saying that yes, my appointment was at 1:00, and that they close the office for lunch every day between noon and 1 p.m. When I asked if the doctor could still see me (I live less than a block away from the office), the receptionist replied "Oh no, she couldn't possibly, it's already almost 1:15!" Wow. I've dealt with other doctors and dentists who 'close' their offices for lunch and do not accept appointments during that hour...HOWEVER, they have someone on site and still let patients into the waiting room when they arrive a few minutes early for their scheduled post-lunch appointments! I'm flabbergasted at the lack of consideration for patients' time. I have to schedule sick leave from work to attend appointments (as most people do), and this office does not have the forethought or consideration to leave a sign on the door saying that they'll be back shortly, or see me 15 minutes later than scheduled? This is not an office with which I want to have an ongoing relationship, despite the pleasantness of the doctor. read more

I've been waiting for 30 days for my eyeglasses. A month is a long time to wait. Last week, after repeated calls from me, I was told they came in with a scratch on the left lens and were reordered.Will I have to wait another three weeks for my glasses? Or maybe they came in yesterday.I'd be the last to know. This office is very poor at communication. I could have ordered these from China myself and gotten them faster. And I am having balance problemsand double vision. I need new glasses to help me determine a possible cause for these problems. You'd think Blvd Eyes could rush this order through. Or show that they are concerned PS. My husband is also discontent with his service. His glasses are cock-eyed, the lenses don't have polished edges and the reordered lenses still haven't arrived.Now he's out of the country for 4 months. What incompetency. read more

This office staff and their service do not even deserve one star. This is the most incompetent, unprofessional and poorly run office I have ever been to. On one occasion, I ordered new glasses. I received them with the frame dented, scratched and crooked with one lens popping out from the side. A few months later when I ordered contacts, I did not receive the order after waiting the customary two weeks. When I called to check on their status, I was notified they never placed the order. Two weeks later, I called back and was told my credit card had been charged for them and they were delivered overnight... but I wasn't charged and they had definitely not been delivered overnight. It has been two more weeks and I still haven't received them. You better believe I will NEVER be coming back to this office. read more

Dr. James owns this office. She is an excellent doctor. She is extremely well versed in her field and will work with you until she is totally satisfied with your results. I saw her to get a new Rx for my contacts and, being a contact wearer for over 10 yrs, I've never had a doctor share so much information with me. I'd feel very confident having her personally handle any eye health issue I encounter. read more
