This city, also serves as a major Polish college town and ranks as the 4th largest city in Poland (population 632,000). Situated prominently in a very old building in the center of the historic Market Square, Spitz has both a casual bar-cafe and a more elegant restaurant situated one flight down from ground level. Despite not having a reservation, our group of four snagged a great table in the stylish dining room with cove-shaped ceilings and centuries-old oil paintings. We quickly ordered a bottle of a nice 2015 Chilean red and got down to enjoying the ambience while perusing the menu. We ordered a delicious appetizer of Grilled Shrimp with, of all things, a Mexican mojo sauce. Two of us also chose a pair of their soup offerings. For entrees, two of us ordered the popular Baked Breaded Sole while another chose another fish alternative...the Grilled Zander w/ potatoes and veggies. Our fourth colleague picked the Rolled Turkey with asparagus and roasted potatoes. Our meals were right on the mark and were crafted with noticeably fresh ingredients.
