We had a nice experience. The food was tasty and the waitress was friendly. There is a large outdoor seating option which we enjoyed. I can highly recommend the beet root options on the menu. I have been to this restaurant once a week for the past several weeks I have been in town. Great cozy atmosphere. They do have an English menu. Can be quite busy at times, though I have never had to wait for a table. Everything is freshly prepared (did not see any microwaves back in kitchen) and very flavorful. They have a decent beverage menu as well. And they serve breakfast in the mornings. Service is decent. Only item to recommend is to bring cash, as their CC processor seems to be down a lot. read more

When I asked where can I get good food, a person at Hotel Piast recommended this place. I walked here. You have a choice of English or German menu. With the current 88 degree weather I started with cold sparkling water and sips from my beer. Outdoor seating was already taken, but this place had an opening, unfortunately not best seat. I was glad they had a front bay window open. My meal was dumplings with potato and cottage cheese, mushroom sauce on top. Not the best dumplings in Poland, so I think I should have ordered schnitzel for 5 star result. Good service. read more

Good food, reasonable prices, HORRIBLE service. I attempted to visit this place twice but only succeeded once. Turns out they close the kitchen an hour earlier than posted online. When I finally did make it, I waited for 10 minutes before being seated, not sure why because it wasn't busy and 4 servers walked by. Then came the 1 hour and a half of waiting to order, waiting for water that never came, and waiting for my check to be delivered and returned. The beef goulash was tasty but not worth the wait or time consuming experience. Reasonably priced Polish food - I chose Kurna Chata because I was looking for bigos. After two weeks in the country, I still had not had a taste of the traditional meal, and I wanted some before I left. I had hear that their bigos z chlebem was pretty good, so I banked on that and worked up an appetite as I walked there. On a rainy Monday afternoon, I was pleased to find Kurna Chata cozy and rustic. It was nice to come in and get out of the rain. As a solo diner, I was also glad to find small tables to sit at to lessen the pain of the stares of others wondering why that girl is eating alone. I ordered a small draught beer, the zurek, and of course the bigos. The zurek was a large portion worthy of the price and tasty. Plenty of meat, eggs, and potato to add some substance. The bigos was a little more tangy than I have had in the past, and had an orange hue to it. I'm not sure what made it that way, but nonetheless it was tasty. Oh my! Rarely write reviews but this place was worthy, first time in Poland but this was the real deal, we had the cheese soup with garlic bread, yummi!! The Polish gnocchi is a delicious twist with the goulash topping. If you are a big group you have to try the large dumpling sampler (18) both baked and potato with spinach and other flavors. For kids you can't go wrong with the fried cheese which is an insane deep fried Gouda? block with a nice lettuce salad. Decent local beer selection. Filip was an awesome waiter. This place was recommended by our tour guide for traditional Polish food. Perhaps the best menu I've seen in my two weeks of traveling the country to date. Nice old village / tavern like ambience. Our borscht was the most soup I've ever been served - coming not on a cup, not in a bowl, but in a pot, oh and so good. I had the potato pancakes with forest mushrooms - a modest sized meal but tasty and just right with the addition of soup. My wife had the vegetarian gołamkis - really good and a healthy sized meal. Kurna Chata is a cosy and rustic restaurant decorated to feel like the Polish countryside. I was told by a few people, this is the place to find good traditional Polish cuisine in Wroclaw. They weren't wrong. The food is served in old white enamel pans to give it a more homey feel. I highly recommend the Barscz (beetroot soup) with dumplings (8.5 zl). The grzybowe or pierogi (13 zl) was also top notch. I had a bigos in bread bowl (19 zl). It was absolutely massive. read more

Very polish food, not necessarily the best. I think a little over priced compared to some places. I had the beef goulash which comes with polish gnocchi, and then the Bebci (spelling) soup which is basiclly cabbage and sausage in rye bread bowl. Tasty but too much of the same taste. The food was just barely okay. The service was the slowest I've experienced in Poland (was is over all quite slow). The Sour Rye Soup was excellent. Otherwise this would have been a 1 star. The fried meat perogies and mushroom sauce were marginal. The salmon was disappointing. They were out of the cheese soup. They were out of the zander. This was our first time back to Poland since living here for a year 17 years ago and we had been excited for what we remember as being tasty meals! We weren't disappointed! The food was great. Two of us had soup (barszcz with pierogami and źurek), pierogi for two, a large salad plate, and beers...all for under $20!
