Pod Fredra has a great location right on the Square in center city Warclaw and offers an excellent selection of traditional Polish dishes in an old world atmosphere. Had an enjoyable business dinner with six co-workers here on a brisk November evening. We ordered a selection of a half dozen polish appetizers for the table including the marinated slippery jack mushrooms, the pickled cucumbers, the thin cut slices of dried Lithuanian sausage, the pickled herring with onions and the salted smoked sheep milk cheese. Wow...the flavors were bold, sharp, smokey at the same time as we nursed our steins of local Polish brewski (Tyskie). While several in our group opted to go for the daily special of sliced pork sirloin dressed out with a sweet cranberry relish, for my main course, I jumped at the baked trout with garlic and parsley along with boiled potatoes. My trout was enormous by US standards and pan fried to perfection. Great experience and recommended for a high quality, traditional polish dinner in a building probably built 200 plus years ago. Dinner and drinks will set you back around 50 Euros a head before tip. Gotta throw Fredra the quarto.

My partner and I just finished lunch here and it was special....as in, really good! We ordered the duck with apples and cranberries as well as the chicken Brest with spinach and garlic...so let me tell you, every bite was better than the last. It would have to be in the top 2 oven roasted ducks I've ever eaten and I'm a huge duck fan. The apple and cranberry worked so well together and the meat just fell off the bone! The chicken was perfectly cooked, succulent and crispy. I have nothing bad to say about any of it and want to come back for dinner haha. Could not fault the service either...simply a brilliant lunch and a must visit!!

    Bigos.... Mmmm

Amazing. The Bigos is a must. Definitely pair with boiled potatoes and dill (just add a bit of salt). Pierogis were amazing! Peirogi Ruskie was so good. We asked for a side of fried onions and it made it even better. Homemade pickles, cucumbers and cream and polish vodka! You can not go wrong here. Ambiance was great as was service. A Wrocaw favorite!

I decided to go as traditional as possible and had the sour soup with egg and sausage. it is on the salty side but having had it a couple times have always found this to be the case. It was tasty and I'd recommend it. This with an ice cold beer is a delight! We got the dumplings to share with what i assume was stuffed with pork and served with bacon lardons. It was tasty enough. Not memorable but by no means unpleasant. I then tried the pork knuckle. the meat was very tender, served with cabbage, horseradish and bread. The bread was plain and not needed. Some fried potatoes with onion and herbs would have been much better with it and made the dish. Ask for this instead. my other half who was less adventurous had basically a pan fried piece of chicken and fries with cabbage. pretty much a chicken escalope and fries or if in germany a schnitzel mit pommes. it was what it was. Tasty bit nothing new or interesting unless you have never had one before. Still it was correctly cooked and if you are in the mood for this its not a bad thing to order. I'll still give it 4 stars as the service was good and everything was cooked right. It just didn't wow me but then this could just be the polish cuisine in general (although again I haven't had enough to make this judgement wither) so I wouldn't knock them as everything was done well.

Chatka przy Jatkach - Front of the restaurant. Friendly staff And good food. Not a large place. Maybe nine tables although they can split them.

This city, also serves as a major Polish college town and ranks as the 4th largest city in Poland (population 632,000). Situated prominently in a very old building in the center of the historic Market Square, Spitz has both a casual bar-cafe and a more elegant restaurant situated one flight down from ground level. Despite not having a reservation, our group of four snagged a great table in the stylish dining room with cove-shaped ceilings and centuries-old oil paintings. We quickly ordered a bottle of a nice 2015 Chilean red and got down to enjoying the ambience while perusing the menu. We ordered a delicious appetizer of Grilled Shrimp with, of all things, a Mexican mojo sauce. Two of us also chose a pair of their soup offerings. For entrees, two of us ordered the popular Baked Breaded Sole while another chose another fish alternative...the Grilled Zander w/ potatoes and veggies. Our fourth colleague picked the Rolled Turkey with asparagus and roasted potatoes. Our meals were right on the mark and were crafted with noticeably fresh ingredients. The only thing dragging the rating down to 3.5 stars was the difficulty we had in flagging down our waiter when we noticed a small crack in one of our wine glasses. Sometimes you just have to bite your tongue and remember you are a guest in another's country...3 Stars.

I ordered the "Ukrainian pierogi" and she the "Green salad with camembert, fresh seasonal fruit and dressing." Both were absolutely amazing. Our waiter was ever so friendly and completely fluent in English. He got my beer to the table quickly, and upon hearing we had tickets to an event an hour later, made sure our meals were prepared and served quickly. Side note: There was seating available both inside and out. The restrooms were clean and well stocked. We would not hesitate to go back!

The Wroclaw Bigos was a stew of red cabbage, beef, pork, veal, raisins, apples, and red wine, and served with baguette slices on the side; compared to a traditional Polish Bigos, this stew had a much sweeter flavor from the fruit used in its preparation. Next, the Silesian Heaven was a dish of cured pork belly and a slice of pork loin in a sauce made of dried fruit (including apricots, plums, and peaches) along with five round, chewy Wroclavian dumplings made with potatoes. Both of the dishes we had were on the sweet side and expensive for what they were, but the service and the experience made eating at this gastropub a memorable stop!
