She then sent us pictures of her garden. Later, she sent us a questionnaire in which my (then) fiancé--Misselle--and I had the opportunity to answer questions about each other. Leading up to our engagement photo session, we were a bit nervous. (We didn't know what to expect.) But when the session started, Galaxie quickly eased our nerves by prompting us with our questionnaire answers. She brought us back to the present moment and began capturing our raw affection for each other, making sure not to overlook any of the surrounding details. Galaxie led the way from beginning to end, and the experience was more enjoyable and seamless than we could have imagined. As our wedding date neared, Galaxie carefully studied our venue. She, and her very capable assistant, surveyed the area. Galaxie took note of the natural light and found the ideal locations for pictures. The day of our wedding, Galaxie captured virtually every decisive moment--and a handful of spontaneous ones too! From when Misselle put on her dress and shoes to when I fixed my bow tie and cufflinks to when we exchanged an "I do," Galaxie was there to encapsulate the moment. When we were down to our final four, it was hard for us to make a firm decision, as we were cautious due to the previous bad experience that we had just gone through with the other photographer. Then my fiancé told me "so no to JoJo or did you like her stuff"? I was like. "Who is JoJo? I've never seen Jojo's photos". It gets a little confusing when you're looking at several images, to keep them all straight. Immediately after seeing Joanna's photos, our top 4 got tossed to the side and we knew at that moment we found our photographer :) We spoke on the phone with Joanna and she was super friendly and had answers to all of our questions, and had more to share with us that we didn't think of. We met Joanna at Knights Ferry for our engagement shoot, which is a must (very cool place that she suggested). Joanna was the sweetest person and, this time It felt to us like we were with a real professional. She was constantly helping us get into position, making sure hair wasn't in my fiancé's face. Making sure the lighting was just right before snapping shots. She was in her element, and we couldn't be happier with how this session went! After we parted ways. We were biting our nails waiting to see what we would get in our gallery (after the last disaster with the previous photographer) lol but when that email hit, we stopped what we were doing and went through every image and a huge weight was lifted. We were given the most beautiful pictures and couldn't be happier. We will FINALLY have good pictures of us hanging in our house that weren't taken from an iPhone lol. I took an intro to photography class here and it was great. Dean took us through all the basics of…read morethe settings on each camera, ranging from Program to aperature and shutter priority to white balance to discussing lenses, flash, and equipment like tripods. The class is quite long so be prepared - and eat before because I didn't and I was starving! There were about 12 people in my class so it does take some time since he helps each person find each thing on their prospective camera and everyone has different settings. I wasn't a beginner beginner taking this class (have already been shooting on Aperture priority) but it definitely helped me understand more about settings I was already using. This is a good class if you're brand new to a camera, but also if you've been shooting for a while but mostly on auto.
