Excellent service & help! The Dr helped me find just the right eyeglasses after searching everywhere for over a year!

My wife and I both had appointments almost at the same time. Bluffton Total Eye Care is one of the only eye doctors covered by my VBA benefits. We both had Dr. Jessica Sirak-Smith who was excellent. Very caring and thorough. We both learned that our eyes haven't changed too much from last year. While she wrote 2 new prescriptions, it wasn't urgent that we get new glasses. They also have a very nice selection of glasses. I don't believe this office provides and specialized services such as surgery, lasik or botox. If you need glasses or an eye exam, this is the place to go. read more

Absolute worst eye clinic in Bluffton and worst I have ever been to!!! They are completely clueless, the receptionist is so rude. The facility is outdated, they hand write prescriptions and have issued me a hand written prescription wrong, 2 times! I have had nothing but issue after issue with this place. The initial contact prescription didn't work, the right eye was very blurry and the "Dr" yelled at me and was very condescending. The receptionist is rude. I will never again visit this place. read more

I love Bluffton total eye care. They are extremely professional and offer beautiful glasses and stand behind their product to provide replacement lenses when there are scratched. read more

Best eye appointment I've ever had. They were so pleasant, and their building is super inviting. I will be recommending this business to others. read more

Terrible communication and customer service. I had an initial eye exam and contact fitting done in June and it is now September and I have yet to get my trial contacts to get my correct final prescription. I am normally very understanding in waiting for extended shipping times, etc. especially during this time, however combined with the lack of communication and this being drawn out over the course of 3 months all to get a renewed prescription is insane. Safe to say I will not be returning here for any future eye exams because I paid for practically nothing ! read more

So I was recently on vacation in the Hilton Head area, and I had lost my contacts... and I had no spares and I had forgotten my glasses at home!!! Oh goodness, could this situation get any worse? My family and I had gone to multiple eye care places before we came to Bluffton Total Eye Care, and all the ones we had gone to beforehand didn't carry the contacts I had... and they were super rude too. (Definitely do NOT go to the eye care place in the Hardeeville Wal-Mart; the staff there is incredibly impolite and think they are above you.) Anyway, so my family and I go to Bluffton Total Eye Care, and they have my contacts! Yay! And the bonus: they were very, very, VERY polite & made us feel welcomed the second we walked through the door. They even gave me a free contact case and bottle of contact solution. I know that if I ever lose my contacts on vacation again (I hope that doesn't happen but you never know!), this will definitely be the place I go to. If you live in the Bluffton area, I highly recommend that you go here for your eye appointments. I promise that you will be treated like royalty because the staff is just that amazing and caring. Did I mention how awesome they are yet? I would talk about their eyeglass frame selection... but I couldn't see it... But I'm sure they're great, haha. Thank you Bluffton Total Eye Care for saving me from negative 4.75 blindness for the rest of my vacation! :) read more

I had an Eye exam in Feb 2020, and the day of the exam Dr. Jessica Smith informed me to come back after I met with the Retina Dr., because I had an appointment with him in the next few week. She reported that she did not want to give me a prescription for glasses until I saw him. Once I had my appointment with the Retina Dr. a week later everything closed down due to COVID 19. At that time I was not working in the Bluffton area and had to work from home and it was hard to get there for an exam. In June once back in the office I went to Bluffton Total Eye care to see if I could make an appointment because I know that I was in need of new glasses. I was told that Thursday was the only day I could be seen and I informed both of the people in the front that I could not take an appointment on a Thursday because of my work schedule and my appointments are scheduled for months in advance. I was told than just come back when you can it does not matter you will be seen at that time. I then asked can I have my prescription from the original eye exam. I was told that she did not want to give me that prescription because it would not be correct, therefore you will get one when you come back. I went back to make another appointment which was in November and was told that I had to have a complete eye exam. When i asked how is that to be paid for I was told well just wait and come back in Feb 2021 when you are eligible for another eye exam. At that time I asked what about my prescription because I need new glasses I am a diabetic. I was told hold on and then told we have a prescription from Feb 2020 and you can get that . My question to them was I could not get a prescription back in June but I can get that prescription now. What changed were they upset because I asked who was paying for another eye exam, most people only have one exam a year. The last time I checked an eye exam is done once a year and paid for once a year. I don't trust the prescription I was given and I am in the process of having my eyes re-exam. I am in the process of contacting my insurance company about this matter . I just felt that this practice needs to be looked into so that it does not happen to others. I will ask if possible that they refund what ever payment they received from my insurance so that the new eye exam is paid for. I have never experience anything like this and just wonder is this is how they operate. I find it very troubling that the prescription that was not good enough to order glasses in June of 2020 is reliable in November 2020. read more
