As a former resident, I can attest to the following review as factual and concise. While the campground may look appealing and to first-timers, as a "magical place," the new wears off very quickly. The real problems don't surface until you get to know the owners better, and you see how run-down the property really is. They call it "rustic," but in this case, "rustic" is an excuse to be cheap, lazy, and do very little in terms of upkeep or improvements. The roads are potholed and washed out. The property is eroding off the mountain, weed riddled, snake infested and over run by ringworm, rats, fleas, ticks, and mice--but the owners call it, "rustic." Cabins are rarely supplied with even the basic necessities, such as light bulbs, but vermin are abundant. Twice, I had guests come to me for mouse traps and light bulbs because they had mice, but NO light in their cabin and the owners were apathetic and unresponsive. I actually had one guest come to my camper, this last September, to use the shower because the bathhouse was nasty and the water was brown. There are several exposed electrical outlets on the property, including at the pool. Fourthly, residents dump their black water onto the property--that is their raw sewage (with #1 and #2 in it).
In all honesty, the place is run like a third-world country. First of all, for several years there was very little potable water available. We'd go days without water at all, and when questioning the owners, they were oblivious to the problem--often blaming everyone and everything, except for their own incompetency. While they have a new well online, the old well still pumps sludge from a shallow aquifer with commercial farms hundreds of feet away and private septic tank only fifty to sixty feet away from the well.
Secondly, the owners and residents let their mongrel dogs run free to defecate, bark, snap, and snarl at anyone and everyone. I only ever saw two guys pick up after their dogs and one of them walked his little dog on a leash. New visitors are stalked and berated by one of the owner's brindle colored dogs-- nicknamed, "Sybil." The owners never take responsibility for their dogs, saying, "it's the dogs' home." Several visitors or residents' dogs have been mauled by "Sybil" (Actually "Butch"), requiring stitches or surgeries, but the Tim (one of the owners) refuse to acknowledge anything happened.

Oh, yea, one more thing, while I think about it: don't worry about theft--you won't be able to report it to law enforcement, because you have to talk to owners first and they will blow you off. Furthermore, 911 emergency? Forget it. We were forbidden to call 911. We had to call the owners first--the caveat to this is they turn off their phones at night. You are on your own.
Finally, if you still want to visit, you better bring cash because otherwise you'll be up-charged on a credit/debit card. With cash, you won't get a receipt, because they "don't keep record of cash transactions--you know why--taxes." I regret ever staying there and warn you to stay away. It is a third-world-country. read more
