Once you gain an understanding of the schedules and stop routines, the experience is straightforward and comfortable. It makes a difference to have someone else doing the driving and is often more socially rewarding, at least for me, to interact with those on the bus or others you may run into around town due to the bus routine. However, the VTA really only works best if you are heading to main roads or town centers. Up-Island service is inconsistent especially in the off season. This is OK for me at present, but I can understand how it could cause problems for others. Another current issue is a shortage of qualified drivers. The summer season schedule, with greater frequency on some runs, abruptly ended a few weeks sooner than planned this year because of this. Conversely and confusingly, one or two routes that usually have low ridership were dropped for the summer and then put back onto the year round schedule. Watch out for the differences in cash fares during the year, if going for single rides. The purchase of a pass can quickly pay itself off for shorter or longer term increments and is worth researching.

Melaney ensured that taxis were ready and waiting for our guests. One of my favorite moments though is when I thought folks forgot about taking me to the church once I was ready for the ceremony. So, what did I do? Call Melaney at Stagecoach to get a ride to my own wedding. They were there in a flash and the driver was super patient while we waited to for all the guests to get inside before I got out and went into the church. Turns out they didn't forget me, yet I love that Stagecoach delivered me to my own wedding! Thank you Melaney and team!!!

The other refused to turn the ac on because 'they aren't paid enough and gas is too expensive'. It was shocking (and frankly embarrassing as the person who made the reservation) that our Girl Scout troop was treated this way and that no care was given. The vans were dirty and no help was given in loading the vans. Opportunity given to them to make it right. Head to another company when making reservations. We certainly will next time.

I purchased mattresses for my home on Martha's Vineyard and the contracted home delivery company was unable to secure a ferry for over a month. As my patience wore thin I decided to pay to have the company drop them to CCE and within a day they were at my home. I called just yesterday morning after they arrived on island and they accommodated my requested afternoon delivery slot between 1-4. When they called around 2 pm to say they were 10 minutes out and I was 10 minutes from my home the driver, Steven, offered to make another delivery first and they were at my home just a few minutes after I arrived. Home Depot provided free delivery via CCE for my kitchen appliances and washer/dryer, and also at a later date for my vanity countertops. Another seamless, positive experience. Most important, when my home renovation was sadly upended by a contractor who abandoned my job and my kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities arrived shortly thereafter, CCE kindly housed them for close to 9 months as I scrambled to restart the job. The storage fees were extremely fair and the items have since been delivered. I was grateful that there was zero damage during that extended period. Each call to dispatch was met with someone helpful as well as a kind woman at their office. I will undoubtedly use CCE for future delivery needs.
