Oh boy! The bao bun with barbeque brisket was deeeeeeeeeelicious! There were four of us and we all chose this from the menu. So good!

We shared a large seedy great salad with tahini dressing (a must for sure), a BLT on Kaslo sourdough and the soup of the day (mango, coconut, corn) So incredibly delicious. Service was great! Kaslo, being a hamlet, really gave me and my partner many surprises--good ones--including this bistro. We would recommend this place for their food and service. Had only one night to try their dinner; our food was delicious (salad was really good) and had beer to go with that. The waiting time was tolerable since we weren't starving, luckily. To be fair, it seemed like a busy night for them; I'm unsure if that is the usual case. Our server was warm and personal. She mentioned that most of their ingredients are local and organic which was good to hear. If it isn't raining, you have to get a table at their lovely patio located at the back of the restaurant. read more

Terrific place. We were there the other night and they had live music, young musician from Toronto playing and it was magical We had salads, they were delicious and large portions. I had the house red wine , fantastic, my husband went on to have Ribs, outstanding Be sure to visit the entire patio at the back. This little place is conveniently located right on Main Street one block from the beach The staff were busy, but they took good care of us Back during our Covid summer New owner and she's fantastic You have to try the quinoa salad, absolutely delicious. Kaslo, BC in general seems like a sleepy hamlet, it is located on western side of Kootenay Lake. The BlueBelle Bistro looked inviting enough from the outside, big windows faced the street on what seemed like the busiest corner in town. We sat inside, on a slightly sloped wooden floor instead of sitting in the beautiful garden area out the back. The staff were polite and willing to engage in conversation, many smiles were shared and they had no problem with me stealing their power to charge my phone. The bistro seemed popular with the locals, who were hanging at the small bar while drinking pints and waiting for pizzas. This slowed down the service a little bit but not to any point of complaint. In fact, it's nice to see people enjoying their work life. The food has a homemade type flair with an edge of rustic hippy crunchy granola. Healthy and fresh ingredients, simply done and not overpowered by flash. I could totally see myself (and most of the locals) dipping into food after a long sesh at the beach. We tried the salmon burger and one of the bistro bowls. They had Nelson Brewing Company beer on tap and it was a treat to try some local suds. Just down the street (within view) is the Moyie Sternwheelwer, a paddle steamer that was built like 120 years ago. Tasty (and slightly expensive) beer on a muggy summer afternoon. We got the Bistro Ribs and Enchilada. The ribs we're very tasty, although only lukewarm, while the enchilada was also one of the better one's I've had, but definitely not the best. All in all it was a very satisfying lunch, one that I'd recommend. I think we'll come back tomorrow morn for bottomless Oso Negro coffee. :D read more

Great coffee, warm fresh muffins. And a creative menu of fresh ingredients for lunch and dinner too! We stopped here for dinner after a day of hiking and loved our baked enchilada and burrito bowl. Mexican fusion is only one of the choices. A neighbouring table's Bistro Ribs looked appetizing and generously heaped. Burgers, Thai bowls, gourmet sandwiches and more... Week long brunch as well. Great place to eat any time of the day! They have the best coffee and the warm muffins in the morning are really good. My fave muffin was the Harvest variety... carrot and apple. I was impressed with the variety of items on the menu for a small town. The quality and taste of the dishes I tried on numerous occasions was excellent. We ate a breakfast (eggs, sausage, pesto home fries) and a dinner here (elk lasagna with house salad; a cold mango soup; BLT) and were very impressed. This is not pub food, it is locavore gourmet cooking. We ate on the back deck which does not have a view of the lake but is very nice with sun sails overhead. One star. Didn't get to eat. Have Been here before and enjoyed the food. The service is scetchy at times. Walked in and asked to be seated on the patio to wich the women behind the service counter responded with I will bring you menus. There were two tables with people at them out there and only a handful of dinners inside. After about 20 minutes another server came out to bring a boxed item to a table leaving and on her way back said do you want a menu? We replied yes please and then waited while they dealt with several other parties arriving after us seating and serving them. We left 30 minutes in and took our dinner over to Mountain King. A must-visit during your stay in Kaslo. We stopped at a Pizzeria close by a few nights earlier, and the ambience and food left something to be desired. This Bistro is an entirely different story. It has a hip pub feel with a welcoming vibe. The music is modern but not overbearing. The tables are simple and plain, but comfortable. The service is simple - just the right amount of check-ins and fill ups without making you feel micro managed. And now for the food.. The corn chowder soup has spices and veggies to die for, and the multi grain sourdough roll comes fresh from the oven still steaming when it gets to the table. The Caesar salad is covered in dressing and has the perfect amount of bacon, parmesan, and croutons. The lemon Caesar dressing has a zing that makes you pucker in the best way, and there is a local beer for the dark ale and the summer ale lover. Best place we've eaten in town so far. Best food in BC! The prices are reasonable, and the food is incredible. This is a destination location with dead to rights best coconut cream pie and cheese cake I've ever eaten. I can't believe there aren't more reviews, but I'd definitely make this a necessary stopover on your way around the lake. They always seem to be open, and they're great with larger groups as well. read more
