When you first arrive there are two parts to the restaurant. One part is just for food and the other is for cake and desserts. We knew we wanted food so we went to the entrance on the right. The menu is quite simple and they specialize on French pastries/breakfast items. I got the Westcoast Montreal Bagel. They really nailed it. I love the smoke salmon in it along with the alfalfa. The bagel was made the Montreal way. It was nice and chewy. It had the right texture. I loved it. B had the large poutine. It was a bit peppery but that was very tasty. They were very generous on the cheese curd which was really nice. Seating can be hard to find given the restaurant isn't very big. There are seatings outside as well. Most people eat and then leave. We ended up sitting on the sofa with the fireplace which was not bad. We do prefer a normal table that was ok for us. I tried a piece of my friend's sticky bun and that was very tasty as well. It is kind of messy to eat. So far the items I tried were tasty. They do have street parking and parking lot dedicated to their customer.

If you get the BLT make sure you get it all dressed as the tangy from the pickle elevates the Sandwhich. Services was good, staff were friendly and prompt. They have a nice patio outside along with lots of inside seating.

Review Visit: July 14th, 2015…read more Yes, it's called a Drive Inn. No, you can't park your car inside nor rent a room for the evening. Nakusp, BC. Our target destination after what seemed like endless hours of driving. Rolling up at 2am, we quickly headed inside and crashed hard. As soon as we were all awake, we needed some food to help refuel after that wild drive. Doing what I do best, I convinced everyone to head in to town to see what it offered. We hopped back in to the van and hit the town. Seeing as my cousin's wife was from here, she suggested a few places. The Hut was the one that sounded promising to all of us. The van was ushered in to a parking spot and we piled out with our empty bellies. Pouring over the menu, all of our mouths watered at the tasty-sounding goodies offered. I was heavily in to chicken sandwiches around this time so that is what I grabbed. I'm not sure what everyone else ordered but I do know the price was pretty consistent with other places like this. Since it was 5 people ordering food, plus the other customers there, the wait was a bit longer than I expected, but these places tend to make their food whenever it's ordered, so that's not always a bad thing. Once the food came out, we quickly headed to a table with an umbrella as we were roasting in the summer sun. Everyone immediately dived in to their food without hesitation. I had slight trepidation as I was in unfamiliar territory with different cultural viewpoints in how to make food and what toppings to put on it. As I sunk my teeth into that first bite, I knew there was nothing else to worry about. That chicken sandwich was full of big flavor. It may look unassuming in the photo below but I loved that thing and wanted another after finishing it. The menu for The Hut was rather large for the size of the town. The food options were a combination of what you can get at an Ice Cream Shack and a place like diner. Burgers, fish and chips, wraps, ice cream, shakes, breakfast, poutine, etc. There is surely something here that would interest most people. As for the building itself, it is in the shape of a triangle and looks to be a house as well? Or maybe previously a house? The peculiar design definitely catches your eye while driving down the road. Luckily after visiting it this one time, we hit up the Hut a few more times for food during our stay in Nakusp. While we did try other places, as you will see in coming blogs posts, none compared to my instant love for the chicken sandwich at The Hut. Years later, I still want another one.

What a great little place to stop by and have some great food!…read more This is a family run drive in that serves all the basic goodies, Hot Dogs, Burgers, Milkshakes, Fish & Chips and Fried Chicken!! Oh let me tell you about their Fried Chicken!! They are the honest home style fried chicken that is void of any gimmick or extra flavourings you would put on. The chicken are large pieces, I am sure they use local farm raised chicken as the meat has a firm texture and is very flavourful, I do not detect a lot of spices being used but they do have some in the batter ( by the way the batter is almost non-existent ) as the crust is very light and not overbearing. Anyways, this is one of the best Fried Chicken I had in a long time, and I had to find it here in Nakusp, BC!!

The coleslaw was just purple cabbage with some sort of sauce in it, but it really had no flavor. The fish tacos and fish and chips were very good. Washed down with a nice cold beer. Love this area and would definitely recommend topping by for a quick bite or slow down and enjoy a drink outside.

Dry Rub Chicken…read moreWings were great but Greek Pizza needed lots of help.. hardly any sign of toppings, tasteless, mostly crust for a princely sum of $28 for a Small/Med. Person who shared pizza with me agreed. Someone else across from me ordered a Wrap & said that too was tasteless, only ate half. There was even a comment about the yam fries being tasteless as well. If you are going to charge high prices for food, you should make it tasty & a good bang for the buck. This was absolutely terrible eats. I won' t be back anytime soon. As comparable on my last visit to area, I had a LARGE Greek Pizza vs your Small/Med, from Boston Pizza & it was loaded & I mean loaded with Greek toppings for around $30.. and it was to die for delicious. There is no excuse for poor food, get a better cook or train the one you have better or you will loose customers that come for eats vs just the beer. Waitress was Nice though.
