Excellent instruction and overall wonderful experience. Would love to fly again with same instructor.
My wife gave me this towed hang-gliding initiation as a birthday gift, but we could not schedule for months due to young children, move, and projects on new house. Business owner had to dig up receipt and sounded a bit short on phone when we called to schedule, but was very straight-forward and accommodating. I imagine he deals with a lot of weather disappointment...
Facilities on-site are sufficient, campground quality rather than spa (of course), but class was run efficiently. My group was relatively large with a single instructor, but we lucked into excellent weather (one week after Hurricane Sandy) until light wind reversed ~ 11AM. Each student got a couple of rounds of 2-3 flight attempts. Most did not get a third round because of tail-wind and continued uncertainty that kept operator from reversing tow setup. Instructor waited beyond normal end time because there was no afternoon group, but wind did not come back around.
Beyond time in the air, the best part was constructive and clear tips on every attempt. We truly got to learn from other students examples and the instructor's decades of experience. I was fortunate to get several longish flights, but positive group of other students seemed to appreciate the tow experience as well.
Tips: in cool weather bring some layers, gloves, a water bottle, and use the port-a-potty before donning your harness in the morning (no breaks if the wind is right and you are towing from middle of field). Website also gives realistic expectations: first flights are generally only a few seconds each, longer if you are lucky. Worth it. read more
