I'm currently writing this review from another hotel down the street as I had to leave the Hampton Inn due to the dirty conditions. The first room I was in had roaches in front of the mini fridge. The second room they put me in was nice until I realized the carpet was soaking wet. I put down a towel/notified the front desk and this is the result (see picture below). I decided to find another hotel and inquire about a refund.

Some Fairfields are nice and some are not so it is always a risk of what you will get. The hotel was pricier than other Fairfields. One of the elevators was out of service. From other guests, I was told that was typical here. The room I was assigned was on the road end of the hotel and next to the stairwell. While there will always be some level of noise in a shared living space like a hotel, there are better room options. I figured a way to minimize the road noise with keeping the room fan on. My first night, a group of high schoolers were at the hotel and kept changing rooms and slamming the doors. The second night, a group of little leaguers and their families were there and they decided to race up the stairs on both ends of the hotel and run the halls. Then these same kids were holding the elevator button so that it would not operate properly for other guests to use. I had hoped the hotel would have dealt with the unsupervised kids but they didn't. Housekeeping was also loud in the hallway. I thought it was the high schoolers the first morning but it was a group from housekeeping complaining about stuff rather than working. There was a group of at least 4 on the end of the hall near my room. The walls are very thin here. The cable lineup is on the smaller side so don't expect too many options. The water pressure was ok at first then would go low then ok for a bit then low again so no steady water pressure. I did not have much interaction with the staff besides the breakfast attendant. She was friendly and kept the food well stocked. The front desk was to be staffed 24 hours a day but it was rare to see anyone there. I would look for another option when I am in that part of the state again.

So many issues...I think this is an older hotel & if not, they should claim that. The room's a just plain hotel room, no special bells or whistles but updates are needed & doesn't really meet the Marriott standard. I am in a 2 queen standard room & was glad I got a 2nd bed option - check pictures of Bed #1. Not sure who could sleep on that. Then I went to sit down to do some paperwork & the desk chair went almost to the ground & will not come back up - broke. The tub stopper is broke off - glad I only take showers. And then I was in the bathroom & the light kept blinking like a strobe light - I think when the guest in the room above walks around, the light flickers (possible elec issues). Positives - There is a hot breakfast (haven't tried yet) and this location is conveniently located to tons of dining & corp chain shopping (Walmart, TJMaxx, etc)

The morning staff on sun 8/6 were a bit rude and if o didn't know any better o would bet one was wearing a shower cap. I was confused?? Couldn't get of there fast enough. Steer clear!!! There are no hotels in the historic downtown area of Elizabeth City which is why we choice the B&B route (didn't want to drive). We did not stay in the main house but in the adjacent building. It turned out good for us. The building is nice, more private and the rooms have a private bathroom. You get access to the main house as well as the tavern. The tavern is very cool. Nice bar, seating area and a TV. You have to bring your own booze since they don't have a liquor license. Plenty of parking at the house for guest, all complimentary. You also get access to the pool in the back but it was not open when we were there (winter). The owners Mike and Holly were great and provided excellent information and recommendations on Elizabeth City.

I always…read morestay at Hilton hotels when I travel, but EC only has a Hampton Inn, aligned with the Hilton brand. Since I don't like Hampton Inn hotels, I decided to look into a B & B. I found the Foreman house and fell in love. The accommodations are perfect.. Large rooms and modern fixtures in a colonial style home. The owners and operators, Mel and Andy are everything you would want to find when you check in and more! Breakfast is tasty and served at whatever time you wake up. My favorite thing about staying at the Foreman House is pulling in. It feels like coming home. The Foreman House is the place to stay in Elizabeth City.
