Unfortunately, this is probably the roughest Hampton Inn we've ever stayed in. I want to be fair because the staff were all friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. We have absolutely no complaints about the people working here. The property itself, however, is in desperate need of a refresh. The carpets were stained, the bathroom felt dirty and worn, the soap dispenser wasn't even full, the walls were scratched and scuffed throughout the room, and the overall condition made the hotel feel tired and neglected. It simply doesn't reflect the standard we've come to expect from Hampton Inn. To make matters worse, the room rate was nearly $200 for a Sunday night including taxes and fees, and that didn't even include the additional pet fee. This was just for a basic king room. We regularly stay at a comparable Hampton Inn in Virginia Beach for about the same price, and that property is in an entirely different league. Based on the condition of this hotel, the value just isn't there. I sincerely hope the owners invest in renovating this property because the staff deserve a hotel that matches the quality of the service they provide. With some updates and better upkeep, this could once again be the kind of Hampton Inn travelers expect and appreciate.

There are no hotels in the historic downtown area of Elizabeth City which is why we choice the B&B route (didn't want to drive). We did not stay in the main house but in the adjacent building. It turned out good for us. The building is nice, more private and the rooms have a private bathroom. You get access to the main house as well as the tavern. The tavern is very cool. Nice bar, seating area and a TV. You have to bring your own booze since they don't have a liquor license. Plenty of parking at the house for guest, all complimentary. You also get access to the pool in the back but it was not open when we were there (winter). The owners Mike and Holly were great and provided excellent information and recommendations on Elizabeth City.

I found the Foreman house and fell in love. The accommodations are perfect.. Large rooms and modern fixtures in a colonial style home. The owners and operators, Mel and Andy are everything you would want to find when you check in and more! Breakfast is tasty and served at whatever time you wake up. My favorite thing about staying at the Foreman House is pulling in. It feels like coming home. The Foreman House is the place to stay in Elizabeth City.

Eddie ran to the hotel next door after three attempts of calling to see if the reservation was scheduled for the wrong "choice hotel" apparently this happens with Booking.com often. Still nothing. I then called the Booking.com customer service and after sitting on hold for almost 20 minutes, Eddie assisted while I canceled the online reservation and he was able to get me into the room. Customer service is a rough field, however, this man went above and beyond to assure my family was taken care of. We also visited the attached bar and grille. The burgers were amazing!! We came in right before 9:00 and Casey was happy to help us and made every effort to accommodate my children's requests as well!
