Grilled shrimp dinner
Jennifer B.

This place was recommended to us by a local police officer, so thank you sir! We ordered fried green tomatoes to start. And they were served lava hot! The tomatoes were nice and firm but there was little to no seasoning. Fortunately there was a ranch dip and some hot sauce. That made them delicious! The grilled shrimp dinner was absolutely delicious. Shrimp were seasoned well. The coleslaw was cold and creamy, a little sweet for me but went well with the shrimp. There was only two servers and they worked very hard for the entire time we were there. We would definitely go back.

The food was delicious, the server, Vanessa, was friendly and attentive. The ambiance had changed, since the remodel and name change. The interior is beautiful and the booths are comfortable. I had the Turkey Panini and it was delicious with real roasted turkey. My brother Jonathan had the Turkey with gravy and mashed potatoes sandwich. He loved it and said it was very succulent. My Mom and my brother Bill shared the chicken Parmesan with angel hair pasta. They are real particular about their chicken Parmesan, but they loved it! They said it was very flavorful and liked the provolone cheese and the tender chicken. We also had the chocolate mousse cake for dessert. It was very good. Overall, it was a very good experience and we will be back.

The old "Mike's Grill" under new ownership. Our party of six came here for dinner the day after Thanksgiving. Menu was about the same, interior got slightly upgraded. Friendly staff and owner. Portions were huge and we had a lot of leftover. Friend oyster was really good, fish in the fried seafood basket is unfortunately not cooked. Other than that, we were all quite happy.

Mike's is a great place for some "home cooked" type meals. It's big, so there's plenty of seating. And they have an enormous menu so there's probably something for everyone. Service is always great; really friendly folks. We've been several times but this last time, I tried the fried chicken. That is some seriously good fried chicken. No knocks on the chicken at all! The only reason I took a star off is because it's a bit pricey. Not terrible, but everything is a bit high there. Everything else is just dandy! We're always happy when we leave Mike's!

Good food, excellent service and a comfortable atmosphere. What more need I say? I'd go back if/when I am in Bartow again.

Richard was coming to Bartow to meet up with his cousin and do some antiquing. It was Sunday after church and none of us were on a schedule. We were told the wait was 10 minutes. We were seated in 15. Again, no schedule as I caught up with my BFF and got to know his cousin. We were seated and Cindy, our server immediately took our drink order. Simple waters, iced tea and coffee. The restaurant was busy and Cindy disappeared after our drink order was delivered. No worries, the conversation kept us busy and we wanted to take in the place. Our orders were taken; I had the Ruben, BFF had the skillet, and the cuz had a patty melt. I couldn't tell you how long as we were so enthralled in conversation. Both sammies were served with fries and cole slaw. I was so psyched upon the food arrival. The bread on my Ruben was crunchy, perfect amount of corned beef, sauerkraut, and 1000 island dressing, I devoured it! The crinkled fries were crispy and when I asked for honey mustard for dipping, it was brought out immediately! The patty melt looked equally amazing as did the skillet. I was told the biscuit my BFF ordered was fresh and tasted homemade. He could have eaten 5 more. When I write reviews, I am not in a rush. I am more about the experience than Cindy or any server trying to turn a table. Outside of hanging with my BFF and his cousin, it was so worth the 30+ mile drive! THANK YOU for a wonderful experience at your little diner.

Like I would've loved to order fried okra as a side and get a smaller portion that having to order the whole app just to have okra as a side. My only hang up was indeed not having more variety for sides, especially when they already have the item on their menu. Other than that, the food was fantastic, service was great, and it was a great experience. I did see some non-fried options, but YOLO. Definitely recommend the grits. Okra was perfectly cooked. I had the clam strips and they were delicious. Gator bites were tasty as well. Highly recommend everything I had and can't wait to explore more. Service was fast and very friendly. Checked in often and refilled consistently. Plenty of parking out front and easy to spot off 98. I've driven by it many times, so it was great to finally come in and try it.

Found this restaurant as a convenient stop enroute. We entered right when they opened and there were already a few tables occupied. We were greeted by friendly Madison, our server, who could not have been cuter or nicer. The meal started out with warm biscuits and cinnamon butter. So good you could just eat these. We each chose a different fish dish from their lunch menu. Since they are named "catfish" country, I decided to get that. My husband ordered the cod. We chose the fish to be fried -- and they were lightly battered pieces and perfectly cooked. Each basket came with two sides. I got green beans and a baked potato. He had collards and cheesy grits. We both loved our fish choices. The only thing that I didn't care for were the green beans -- more like pole beans and peppery southern style (as in mushy). He thought his collards and grits were wonderful. I think we've found a new favorite place to stop mid-state.
