Two days before i was scheduled to move I checked my bank account and saw Direct TV had taken 500 hundred dollars that I Did not authorize, I then called to find out why they had taken my money being that the temporary cancelation was free because when i moved in my new place the service was going to be turned back on. When i called them i spoke to several different people and no one could answer why 500 hundred dollars was missing from my account, they tried saying it was not showing up on their end so i had to have my bank fax over a statement showing that they in fact took the money. one woman i spoke to was very nasty to me and told me i would have to wait 5-7 days so it could be reviewed..i was furious about waiting because i needed the money to move, i then demanded to speak to someone else and eventually she hung up on me. My bank said they would then take the situation over a gave me the money back. After I Got settled in my new place i then called to have service turned back on(against my better judgement) they sent a guy out to my house and when he arrived he looked around and said he did not have a ladder or the proper tools to install the equipment....I again was furious and called his manager and he said he would come out to install it and he never showed up. I called Direct tv again a few days later and had my service terminated. The way i was treated throughout this whole experience was unbelievable i will never deal with this company again!

She has dementia and will never understand why her elderly remote (with up/down channel, volume) just don't f'n work anymore when it's worked fine for the last decade! And I don't get it either...     I had ADT installed in my home because I am a disabled vet on a fixed income with a traumatic brain…read moreinjury and PTSD so feeling secure is important for me and my family. We had nothing but issues from the start and the panel on the wall would constantly have to be reset over and over, multiple times a day because of issues with the wifi which was NOT ADTs fault. Verizon told us they service our area which ended up being false so we had no wifi coverage or very spotty coverage at best. I really wanted to have the system and when I spoke to a representative he said we only had 3 days to cancel the contract under buyers remorse but if the service doesn't work through no fault of my own that I could cancel without penalties and even get a refund. Since I supposedly had 6 months I decided to try an find an internet service provider so that we could keep the system. We weren't able to find an ISP that was actually dependable and would keep the system going without having to reset it so eventually we had to request to cancel and we were under the impression that everything was canceled and we were just disappointed but what can we do? I didn't even ask for the refund because I felt that it wasn't their fault about the wifi but they can't provide service so I can't use them and don't see how any reputable company would try and force someone to be bound to a contract they can't even keep their part of. About a month ago I received a call from a debt collection agency saying that I owe ADT over $4000 for service they can't even provide and they keep going back to the contract saying I had to hold up my end but they can not hold up theirs yet they still are trying to force a disabled veteran to come up with money to pay them basically for absolutely nothing. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and even spoke to a collection agent yesterday and I explained the whole situation and even she said that was messed up and that she wouldn't pay either and they have the call recorded (as do I!). I called the lady who left me message from the corporate offices and she hasn't returned my call. Guess I will have to speak to an attorney because I know one thing that is certain and that is ADT will never see a dime of my limited funds. I would include pics of the panel that always needs to be reset but that doesn't even work anymore. Funny because the system is still relatively new. So buyer beware!!! They will do whatever it takes to get you past the 3 day point so you CAN'T cancel and then you're no longer a valued customer. You're just someone who is on the hook for a 4 YEAR CONTRACT and they do not care, they just want their money. I'm sorry but even under contract if you signed up with a cell phone company and then found out they don't even have service in your area but they kept you going past 3 days so it doesn't matter that your service doesn't work. It doesn't matter that you are paying for something you are not getting. YOU do not matter to them. You are just another account and they just want their money no matter if it is ethical, moral or justified. They want me to pay them and not even have their service. Please please please consider your options carefully! It's like buying a new car but the engine goes bad and they won't or can't fix it BUT you're on a contract so pay up! They have no empathy, sympathy or couth. I guess I fought for my country so companies like this have the freedom to screw Americans over. Just look through reviews on ANY platform and you will see customer after customer being taken advantage of and some of the horror stories people have gone through with them. I strongly recommend that you stay away from this company as you can find other (more) reputable companies that aren't predatory or force you into a contract. In fact for the next at least 4 years of my "contract" I will be reviewing them EVERYWHERE, speaking out and warning people about their predatory practices and even looking for other companies to help other people have a choice in who they decide to go with. I will obviously be pointing out every con and highlighting the pros of any other companies, doing the research and making the choice easier for people to choose companies that actually care about their customers and don't try to take advantage of people when they are down or in a position they don't want to be in. I apologize for the lengthy review but there are a lot of things that need to be said and made known and I will continue to do it until about 2029. As I said, I am a disabled vet with plenty of time and energy to focus on making people aware of ADT practices and what they try to enforce, etc.

    This is merely notification. Three years ago I purchased a security system for a $99 installation…read morespecial (it was more by the time it was finished). Key Words: STARTING AT... The two installers were very kind, helpful & personable. It took at least an hour to complete. After taking a closer look at their work I was surprised to see magnets on my windows and door. I admit, I was ignorant to what was involved. This evening I cancelled my service and was told an installer would have to return to disconnect my transformer (unless I had an Electrician to do the job). This will cost me $169 for the first half hour then $43 every half hour after. I was on the phone for 1 hour and spoke with three people. All whom were VERY PATIENT & HELPFUL but 1 HOUR?! Ask immediately how much it cost to uninstall your equipment & what are the ADD ONs that are NOT INCLUDED in your initial sale. Don't get surprised like I was once they started to install the sustem. Stay safe.
