Huge MISS for Blue Olive. We had a reservation at 7:30pm- waited a while to be seated and it wasn't that busy in the restaurant. Lady that sat us down wasn't so welcoming and it was our first time there. She just sat us down and put menus downs and left. Then we were ignored by her and everyone else for the next 25 minutes. We couldn't fathom giving them any of our money being treated this way, and as we were deciding where we were going to go instead, she shows up with water and abruptly asks if we are ready to order.. The whole time we were waiting and looking around and literally nobody could bother to lock eyes with us, and it wasn't that busy. We saw several door dash orders getting prepared while we were there. So clearly online customers are far more valuable to them than sit down customers. As we got up to leave, and before walking out, my husband let a man near the cash know that we waited far too long and aren't impressed and that we don't have anymore time to give them, and his answer was "ok". We will not be given them another chance, ever. read more

Love this place! It's is a central downtown location, convenient to my commute. The decor is warm & intimate indoors with a seating area outside. Although the outside seating is on a busier street, it is a nice feature that is enclosed, and some patrons were enjoying it when I arrived. I had take out Seafood Indian Curry with Fattouche Salad, both of which were rich in flavor. The salad had a lovely flavor blend, the perfect hint of mint, a nice crunch to the topping and a well balanced tang to the dressing. The curry was on a flavorful bed of rice, tasting fresh. The seafood was included in generous portion with mussels, shrimp & scallops all tender within the sauce, which itself tasted like a family recipe. Delish! The service was friendly, even for take out, which can sometimes feel like you are an afterthought. It was ready within a couple of minutes of arrival, which was perfect. During my occasional business trip to PEI and NB, i was always less than impressed with dinner options.... until today. Blue Olive's Mediterranean cuisine was great. I had the lamb chops, rice, potatoes, cuke/beet/tomato salad with pita and garlic spread. The positive reviews were spot on. Despite no beer or wine, it did not matter... can't wait until my visit. read more

Excellent Tunisian and Mediterranean cuisine. Very fresh and flavourful. If they have it, you must try any of their homemade soups. Prices are very reasonable. It's given me a whole new understanding of Mediterranean food. read more

Well this turned out to be a gem - we just happened upon the Blue Olive and decided to giver a go. It did not disappoint! The restaurant has a store front in which it sells different foods from the Mediterranean etc. Causal restaurant inside the store. Open concept with a good amount of seating. The staff were very friendly. Everyone in our party ordered 'from the grill' For my platter I ordered chicken kebab, couscous, Greek salad, beet salad, potatoes and pita with tzatziki. You get TWO side salads. I was surprised. When our platters came out they were all a little mixed up. I ended up with chick shawarma instead of kebab. Another person got chicken kebab instead of beef. We all kept our platters anyway. Everything was delicious!!!! I was not disappointed with my chicken shawarma. The couscous has cinnamon on it, which I wasn't aware of when ordering. I have an allergy so I couldn't eat that but I ate everything else. The tzatziki was yummy. I do wish it came with more pita tho. All 4 people were happy with their food. We all raved about it throughout the meal. Huge portion, lots of flavour, all under 15$ for the platter. Lots of bang for your buck. Would definitely eat here again! read more

Fantastic Restaurant. This restaurant has extremely nice service. We went here for dinner and I had an excellent lamb burger. My friend had a problem with his meal containing something he's allergic to and they handled this mistake very proffesionally where he got a replacement and they offered a discount. This was beyond what was expected and rhe staff was very kind and friendly overall. The food was absolutely incredible for this price point which amazed us. Would definitely come back to this restaurant when I'm around again. Lovely place! read more

Blue Olive - Lamb Buger (without included side dishes) - Mediterranean Near Me - Dieppe, New Brunswick

I am a frequent visitor at Blue Olive and have frequented this establishment several times during the last 4-5 years. I would consider myself a fan of their food, having tried nearly every item found on the menu. That being said, the food quality has gone down within the last year. I found the letus used in their salads to be sometimes slimy, old looking and odd tasting at times. On atleast three occasions my food was nearly cold, albeit still being edible and delicious. My last five visits were beyond dismal and disappointing. This was within the last three months. On two seperate occasions I have food debris in my food. The first being a toonie sized piece of saran wrap (which I assume originated from the top of their containers. I immediately expressed myself to the waiter (whom by now knows me well from my frequent visitations) and he immediately replaced the meal and did not charge me. He was very sincerely apologetic and is over all a nice guy. The second occasion of random debris in my food was just three days ago. As I was enjoying my Shistaouk chicken (really good, you gotta try it) I found myself chewing on what i believed was a small piece of charred chicken. However, upon further inspection it was not the case. What I found in my mouth was a sticker, a large round one like you would find on a watermelon, or large plaintain of somesort. This sticker was stuck to a piece of unknown material that was rather hard, which made me notice it in the first place. I immediately advise the waiter (same one as the last incident) which was beyond sympathetic and even baffled it would or could happen to me again. Initially he did not want to replace the meal, nor would he want to wave the bill. I mmediately demand to speak to the chef, which coincidentally was being replaced by the owner. The owner heard me out and waved my bill, though did not replace my meal. Overall, these experiences may or may not lead to me not visiting again. I would say that blue olive is an excellent restaurant, I am just very disappointed that one of my favorite restaurants would allow such negligence in their food handling. read more

On a Monday evening at 6:30, we were the only diners in the restaurant. We were immediately impressed by the beautiful decor and lovely Moroccan ambiance. My husband had the lamb chops and I the lamb burger. We had both of the salads offered, which were delicious, though the fattoush was a little short on the fried pita chips and pomegranates. The beet salad looked like a better deal. Both our meals were excellent: both lamb dishes came with a yogurt garlic sauce and the burger also had beets inside the bun, which was a welcome surprise. read more

When you enter this establishment, you arrive into a mixed area, on one side you have the specialty food, supplied with a variety of international products (Oriental, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean), and then you have the eating area. I like the idea, but it can be somewhat confusing when you go there for the first time. They would almost need to use separators to create two distinct spaces, but I imagine the open concept is to keep an eye on the shop. Their menu is simple, offering three types of plates for each entrée, a wrap, a wrap with salads and the full plate. I have had their Moroccan chicken and their merguez entrees. They both came with 4 types of salad and a delicious garlic sauce. I am not a fan of beets, but their beet salad was amazing. All the salads went well with the dish (couscous, Greek salad). The vegetables were fresh and crisp and the dressings were well balanced, not covering the salad to a point of not being able to identify the different flavors. I also tried the falafels as an appetizer. I believe they were deep fried, making them crispy, but so full of flavor and well-seasoned. I can't wait to eat more of these. I was however a little disappointed in their tea selection, hoping to try something different. The waitress didn't seem to enjoy her work or simply lacked interest in the clients, she wasn't warm or friendly. Both times I have been there, the food was wonderful and the price is reasonable. Do take the time to have a glimpse at their shop; they carry spices and international products at good prices. Next time I have to try their baklava as their Turkish delights were so good. read more

I live in Amherst NS which is basically a cultural waste land when it comes to food ( except for Bella's) . I was raised in an Armenian/Jewish household on my Dads side. I like to say we got the food without the hassle! Coming from Denver, which has multicultural restaurants/food everywhere, to Nova Scotia where foreign food is canadianized Chinese food... Finding Blue Olive is like finding a diamond in a pile of ash! The food was flavourful, service was quick, place is clean. Let me get back to the food.... Mezza plate had all the good stuff, and all were done well! The lamb burger was flavourful, with delicate hints of lemon, cinnamon and cardamom the lemon potata that came with it were amazing! A friend and I dined in. We ordered two apps to start with (which we confirmed would come before the meal) and then both ordered chicken schwarma, I asked for hummus on it instead of garlic sauce; rice instead of potatoes and soup instead of salad - she said this would cost an extra 3 dollars which I said was fine. The apps never showed until we asked for them after the meal was served. Mine had garlic sauce on it and not hummus, thus I pointed this out. She said no, it's hummus. I tasted it and said no it's garlic sauce - plus it's easy to tell by looking at it. I then said - since he has to remake this, could I also get it with no onion, she said - no onion as well sure. Got the dish back in 60 seconds, had hummus but still had onions. I said don't worry about it, it's fine. No apology for anything, also my friend had hummus on hers but a side of garlic sauce. (mine had nothing on the side). The soup was bland and disgusting (looked like there were lots of congealed orange fatty spherical bits throughout) and the rice was old, as was the pita. One of the apps was some sort of meat and cheese rolls for $7, when those arrived and they were two of the smallest looking spring rolls I've ever seen. My club soda was a half of a short glass which cost $3.50. The tabouli on my friends plate was big pieces and not finely chopped at all as tabouli should be. This restaurant is in a grocery store in a strip mall. It has really really slow service, even though the food is mostly prepared in advance. I found the prices high for the portion size. I do not recommend this restaurant. read more
