They are not like other growers that will sell you just anything. His plants are all Native to our area. I value him and his knowledge so much he always takes time with me. Beautiful gardens, the two same friendly dogs still in residence, lots of herbs & native plants for sale, & informed owners more than willing to share their knowledge. Came away with a lovely native aster & a culinary sage this time. Last year's purchased native aster morphed from a one-footer when planted last fall into a 3-foot tall x 4-foot spread gorgeous cloud of tiny lavender blossoms a couple of weeks ago (& still going strong!), so am looking forward to planting another slightly different variety next to it for an additional show next fall. And the six different columbines I purchased last year also put on a glorious show this past spring, & their reseeded seedlings are popping up everywhere, which I love to see. All in all, a lovely little spot to pick up nice native or culturally-positive-to-the-area plants, as well as enthusiasm from the owners.

I moved to a mountain home ten years ago where I knew no one. My lucky stars found Josh at Blue…read moreRibbon Nursery to maintain my large sloped yard. Over the last decade, he's mowed, weeded, trimmed, planted flowers, shrubs and trees, relocated a Japanese maple twice until it got to its 'happy place', cut down a 20-foot messy cedar tree by himself, and most recently designed, built, and planted a 70+ foot long border. Blue Ribbon has made my yard look like a park. The border is gorgeous and the varying heights of ornamental trees, shrubs, and plants seems to give passersby a clearer perspective of how fast the sharp downhill curve is coming their way. What I've learned about Josh and Chad at Blue Ribbon Nursery is that they care about their customers and doing great work at a fair price. They are both very well informed about the items they sell and have a large selection. I highly recommend them for your landscaping and outdoor/indoor decor.

So, let me tell you about Merrifield Garden centers. I have been to many many landscape and garden…read morecenters over the years. I know quite a few that have been put out of business because of the chain home improvement stores. When you go to Merrifield, you will be bathed in the amazing living variety that can be brought to your home, for indoors and outdoors. The selection is beyond anything I've ever seen, and the staff clearly loves the business. You can browse hundreds of plant and flower options indoors And they also have an amazing selection of patio adornments. The best was my experience today. I needed a garden hose adapter. Sounds simple enough, but this is so uncommon that all of the local chains didn't have anything, and one young man in an orange apron Ron suggested I just get it on Amazon. I stopped here at Merrifield, and they also did not have it in stock. But the gentleman at the counter Suggested that he'd be happy to make one for me if I wouldn't mind waiting for a few minutes. And he jumped into action, grabbing the hose and fittings that he needed and manufactured what I needed for me on the spot. That his old-fashioned service deserves a lot more than just five stars. Please bring them your business!

I've heard great things about Merrifield and though I've visited before, I hadn't bought anything. I took some pics of my lawn, some of the current grass/weeds/plants growing and went to their help desk. It was mid-week, so not too busy. Craig was working the desk and so I don't bury the lead... he was AMAZING. I explained what I was trying to do, that I really knew nothing, and though I had done a little research, I didn't want to trust everything I had read/watched. He walked me through my options. I don't care much about what is growing, just that we have good coverage. Clover was something I was interested in. He explained the clover options as well as some low-maintenance grass options. He even spent a lot of time helping me understand about aerating since it was something I wanted to know more about. I decided to go with grass and clover, hoping a mix might balance between lawn and something for the pollinators. As the spots were relatively small, he said I could just hand spread, especially with the clover seeds being so tiny. While prices are a little higher than the big box stores, looking into this, the products seem to be of a higher quality. Luckily my issue was sort of small to start with so I felt it was a good investment.
