Meal was average and nothing to write home about. Fried artichokes were meh, would have been better if they were fried without any batter, the batter took over the flavor. Fried cauliflower on the other hand was delicious with a buffalo sauce. Fried pickles were really good, order was huge but the batter was crispy & perfect, the pickles were not homemade. Shrimp Rangoon was good but tasted like it was out of a bag previously frozen. Artichoke bisque was good, crostini with blue cheese was in the soup and overpowering, we thought it was gonna be on the side & there would be more than just one. Also, it came out at the end of the meal with an apology but also stayed on the bill. Flatbread was good, crispy crust & cheese up to the edge but skimpy on toppings. The mini dessert trio was a disappointment. Limoncello cake cup thing didn't taste like limoncello & was really pasty & thick. Chocolate and peanut butter trifle just tasted like chocolate pudding with maybe a hint of peanut butter. Probably would not return, unless no other options. read more

I came into town for work and many people suggested this restaurant so I decided to try it. I sat at the bar for HH and ordered the house Chardonnay off the menu, to my surprise it was only $3. That's awesome! The bartenders, Jordan and Steve, were fantastic, very attentive. I then ordered the HH wings which were ok, nothing very special BUT the margarita pizza was so delicious. The crust on the pizza is the best part. I would definitely suggest this restaurant to others if they come into town. read more

AWESOME service during our dinner meeting!! Thank you Jeanne Costigan for helping put this meeitng together. Thank you Marsha and Laurie for taking such great care of us...service, drinks, appetitzers, and food was outstanding. You all are the BEST!! read more

Wonderful ambiance. Food is reasonably priced, at least my salad was. Wait staff was slightly inattentive, but that might have been because we came in just before closing. The chocolate torte was good, although a little dry. I will come here again. read more

We decided to go out for dinner tonight after a movie. We usually really love the blue moose. But tonight service was horrible slow and no personality. And they weren't busy. That's what made it worse. The server took our plates away and asked if we wanted anything else. We said no...... And poof she was gone I guess we should have said we would like our check. We actually had to get up and find someone to get our check. We paid in cash. Someone needs to teach these young servers when someone pays in cash.....it's in your best interest to break down the big bills if you want a good tip. Tonight our change was 27 and some change. She brought us 7 1's and a 20. So her tip was 7 1's. I would have left a little more but I wasn't going to leave the 20. It wasn't worth that read more

Went here for a later dinner and drinks on a Sunday night with co-workers. Ordered KC strip that was tough and a tad over cooked, it wasn't the best steak I have ever had. For the price, I was left disappointed. My drink was not good, and the service was a little slow. It was almost like they were annoyed we were in there eating (we got there at 8, they don't close until 1030). They were vacuuming and cleaning while we were trying to eat, so that was kind of an appetite killer. With so many places to choose from, this won't be at the top of the list to return. read more

The big downside to the restaurant is that it is a very echoey noisy place, not because of loud music, but just because of so many hard surfaces that bounce the sound around and make it hard to have a conversation with someone sitting across the table from you. Sometimes we go somewhere else just because this is such a hard place to talk. But the food itself is nice, with some creative touches. My favorite by far is the fig and proscuitto pizza which come with a little argula on top and is so delicious. A much more interesting menu than anything else you'll find on the Wanamaker corrider. read more

A disappointing night at the Blue Moose. This is one of our favorites and I promise to rate higher when they earn it back. We made reservations and were quickly seated. But after waiting for 45 minutes, the waitress told me they had run out of the side item I was really looking forward to. So I changed my order, bit asked them to bring the rest of the tables meals. The meals were served over 20 minutes later. So well over an hour wait for our food. Half of the table's food was cold and very all portions for one plate (unusually small as this is a typical menu item we order). The manager was extremely apologetic and brought out another meal for the tiny one. He also offered dessert and an adjustment, but we just really wanted a nice meal out with the family. read more

Ashley L. was a very nice and attentive waitress. We were seated immediately and had no issues! The food was good as always.

Went on a Tuesday night for a pharmaceutical presentation and they apparently had pre "seared" our steaks so we all kind of felt bad not ordering them so we did. They came out a VERY long time later and they were so over done I didn't even eat mine. They were so dry I could tell just by looking at it. I ordered a medium rare, not over done. It was my first time eating there and it will be my last. read more

Great atmosphere, great food, delicious cocktails and amazing service - thanks Summer, Shane, Dakota, Alexandra! Warning: the hummus platter, Wedge Salad, Mac & Cheese w/ Bacon--can become an addiction! The best Happy Hour around. Fun times!! read more

Ok Blue Moose you became the "Blew it Moose". True a party of 18 at 4:30 on a Tuesday is dicey, but you were told several days ago that we would be there. So the first wave got some service but after the second wave got there we waited 30 minutes and no service. We went to the bar and ordered our drimks and complained. Manager offered free apps, but that wasn't really related to wait staff. Then before we could order food one of our tables was taken from us, causing 4 people to leave. In addition 3 others decided to leave without placing good orders. Those of us who stayed received our food in stages. So what has happened is that 10 people or so will never come back and those of us who might will wait a long time before we return. read more

We went today for the Sunday brunch ($14.95 each). It was the worst breakfast we have had in years. All of the food was cold, dried out, and tasteless. Coffee was cold as well. Service was non-existent. Avoid!!! BTW - Yelp seems to think I'm in San Francisco. This was the Topeka, KS restaurant. read more

Between Kansas City and Topeka, this is definitely the best Blue Moose location. They changed their menu about a year ago, and I definitely miss the chicken madeira pasta, which was my go to item on the menu. The other food is good though, portion sizes are nice, and the place if full of nice, large booths which are excellent for a date night or a private conversation. read more

Great lunch and we definitely came on the right day. Came in on Friday September 4th. They had a all you eat special for fish and chips. That with a beer made for a great lunch. Really nice "bar and grill/sports bar" had a bunch of TV's that can be seen from any seat. The waitress (Bartender) was very attentive, gave great recommendations, and didn't let her bar duties take away from the great service! Would definitely go back! read more

I really like their food, miss the old petit sirloin with the cauliflower mash and squash

Great happy hour! We had the humans plate and shrimp....sooo good! Desi is a fantastic waitress!!!!

Incredibly salty unfresh food. People, you deserve better. Demand better. It's not all about portion sizes.

I really so like this place, but am continuously disappointed by the service. I have a regular order: Veggie Burger with cheddar and the fries. Always good food. However, the service is ever changing. I have waited for meals for over an hour and this is really unrealistic when a family is dining out. Maybe they don't want to be a family place, but then why have a kids menu? On my most recent trip, I went with two friends and my young daughter. I was so glad we ordered an appetizer otherwise it was over 45 minutes to get our entrees. Then they brought everyone's food out except my daughter saying her fries needed longer. Well I had fries too, and seriously a restaurant should know to ALWAYS bring the kids food first. When I mentioned that we didn't get her food and it was the most important meal, the person bringing out the food rolled her eyes at me and told me the fry story. Then I watched as she went back to our waitress and complained about me. I could see her calling me names. This bothered me and I made a comment to my friends about not leaving a tip. I later decided against that because it wasn't the waitress' fault that the other person was rude. In previous visits, I have experienced long wait times and our order being lost. I am, however, always thankful they seem to be up on refilling my drinks. read more

Overrated. They were out of several items at 5pm on a Sunday. Pizza crust is nothing to write home about. Zero flavor. Left feeling unsatisfied read more

Everything looks fine. Its newly remodeled. The menu has plenty. Everything was cooked fine. But there really was no taste. Quinoa, nothing. Chipotle dip nothing. There was nothing wrong, but it wasn't as flavorful as say an Applebee's. This is a good place to go with in laws for a forgettable evening. It's a solid B evening. Great place to watch the game without taste interesting your evening. read more

Our server and food were great! I'm stuffed! ***** Desi our server was the best! She went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. read more

Great job Desi! Definitely coming back. 7 of us for lunch and everyone loved the meal and the service.

Belated review. I had a smoked pork tenderloin. The very center was raw. The waiter tried to tell me it was the "smoke" that made it pink... in the dead center of the sliced tenderloin. I almost laughed him away from the table. I should have taken a picture. I could tell we weren't generally welcome after that. Wife's meal was OK, but nothing special. I don't think it has been worth it to go back since. read more

The Blue Moose Bar & Grill is not a regular "go to" restaurant for me, not my first choice for dining out. But many of my girl friends really like this place, so I am meeting them here for lunch or dinner every other month or so. Half price appetizers every day from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. Half price bottles of wine every Tuesday night. Ladies Night every Wednesday night beginning at 7:00pm, which means half price glasses of wine. Hamburger specials and $2 beer every Thursday night. We started dinner with the artichoke, spinach dip served with slices of pita bread and corn chips. This is a favorite with my friends, but I don't quite understand the attraction. Yes, the taste is very good, but it is a big glob of melted cheese. The first person to dip a chip gets a big glob of stringy cheese. Some else has to come to the rescue with a knife and fork to cut the cheese. The serving is really not big enough to be shared by 4 people - barely enough for 3 to share except for the big pile of corn chips. I like the slices of pita bread, but I don't like the chips. Why chips Blue Moose? Stick with the pita bread and get rid of the chips. The yucky part of our serving of appetizer was that 2 spoonfuls of some type of seasoned rice had dropped onto the chips and pita from another plate. We weren't sure where the rice came from. I ordered shrimp and chicken curry for dinner. My girl friends ordered the petite fillet with mashed cauliflower and steamed vegetables, and grilled salmon with black beans and vegetables. They reported that their meals were very good. The shrimp and chicken curry was good, but for $13.99 I thought it was a little skimpy on the shrimp and chicken. There were 4 shrimp a little on the smallish side and about 6 chunks of chicken. The curry was not as flavorful as I had anticipated. The curry is poured over a large mound of white rice. The plate presentation was lovely, but the taste, not so much. The pleasant surprise was that the manager came to our table before our dinners were served. We had placed our orders, dined on the appetizer, and then waited and waited for our meals. The manager explained that my shrimp and chicken curry had burned, delaying everyone's dinner as they had to prepare a new meal for me. (Maybe that was why there wasn't much shrimp and chicken in my meal and why it was a little on the bland side?) To compensate us for the wait, the manager gave us the appetizer at no charge, plus free desserts for all 3 of us. We hadn't planned on purchasing desserts, but for free, we ordered ~ 1 crème brule, 1 chocolate swirl cheese cake and 1 flour-less chocolate torte. My cheese cake was good, but I recommend the flour-less chocolate torte. The serving was HUGE, big enough for 3 people to share and perfect for a chocoholic. Our waiter, Bryon was great. He greeted us at our table as soon as we were seated, brought water and Sprite beverages immediately, refilled our glasses often, including the Sprite. We arrived at 6:45pm, so a few minutes before Ladies Night began. We told Bryan that we would wait to order wine at 7pm for the 1/2 price special. Promptly at 7pm, Bryan returned to our table to tell us that Ladies Night had started and to take our wine orders. He was very apologetic about the delay in our dining and encouraged us to take advantage of the free desserts by bringing extra boxes for us to take left-overs home. Good Job, Bryan. read more

I ate there near christmas at noon with a group. I ordered the very menu item pictured. This was completely unappetising in appearance with the gray gravy having melted the instant mashed potatoes in was a sort of thick soup with overdone beef on top. I ate very little and the staff didn't inquire or offer to make this right in any way. I complained at check out, but no remedy was ever offered. I will never give this restaurant another try. Considering the poor food the prices were unreasonable. read more

Blue Moose is a great place to go if you want a fun and lively environment! It has a great vibe and the servers are always attentive and offer great suggestions on the menu. I was boring and ordered a chicken caesar salad, but my friends ordered the Mac and cheese and chicken strips and ate every bite. Ask for Ashley L or Lorie G and you will have the best service! We will be back for all the above reasons. read more

It started out ok...the waiter did think i said tea when i ordered white zinfandel, but that was straightened out. The appetizer(fried pickles) was piping hot, but our party of 3 did not get small plates with the appetizer, so that was awkward. My wine (not tea) finally showed up. When dinner came out my pasta and husband's burger were dine...my Girl's chicken tenders were rubbery, like they had been under a heat lamp waaayyy to long. When we told the waiter, he said he'd have a manager come over. About 10 minutes later, anager fi ally showed up. Replacement came was fine, and they offered free dessert. Chocolate cheesecake was gritty! I think they served us the one that was on display! Blech! read more

Awesome dinner. Tried finding a good place for dinner before a concert. I enjoyed the mahi tacos and my husband loved the salmon. The service was ok. To be fair, we eat at Blue Moose in Lawrence and have never had a bad experience. That said, our trip to the Topeka version for Father's Day brunch was significantly less than impressive. Prices on select holidays are jacked up ($9 bucks more per plate than standard Sunday brunch there). You have to have reservations, which we did. When we arrived, the host staff seemed overwhelmed. It wasn't even 11:30 a.m. yet! Reservations were backed up. Staff kept apologizing. There were clearly plenty of tables, but no one to bus them. Three people around host station. Guy struck us as hilarious because he literally could not possibly move any slower without looking like he was trying to recreate a slow motion movie. Two gals were hustling, but flustered. Finally got seated. Several items on the buffet were completely empty. Did appear to be getting staff attention for that, which was good. Everyone can understand when things get busy. But really, there just weren't that many people going through the lines. Nowhere for them to sit yet. The entire time we were there, almost half the restaurant had empty, dirty tables. It was not impressive. By the way, stay away from the biscuits and gravy. Two in our party tried them and found the gravy absolutely unedible. Watery thin and very weird tasting, like maybe they forgot any flavoring or essence of sausage. read more
