A perfect sailing day, according to Captain Jim M, and I couldn't agree more! My husband and I had…read moresigned up for a two hour sailing excursion at the Milwaukee Community Sailing Center through AARP. We didn't know what to expect, but we were in good hands with experienced Captain Jim M, who said he learned to sail with his father on Lake Champlain. Captain Jim M gave us basic sailboat terminology, so we understood what was going on when he gave us our tasks. He let us use the tiller to help steer the sailboat and taught us how to tack. He made sure we were always aware of what was going on around us and made sure we always felt comfortable in the boat. Communication was number one with him and it made us feel comfortable, confident and safe. This experience was so much fun and way beyond my expectations! Captain Jim M is such an incredible asset to the organization, as he is a volunteer here. I highly recommend visiting this organization. Captain Jim M is there volunteering on Friday mornings and Sunday mornings. What an amazing day!

A great exercise that doesn't feel like one because of the continually changing landscape and beautiful scenery. There's also a paved walkway for those who want a easier route. There is also a skateboarding area, a dog park, picnic tables throughout... everything you need in a park! Oh, and how can I not mention the Biergarten. Great spot with lots of open space. And it's really well maintained. I see volunteers out all the time, painting, picking up things, surveying. Thank you Estabrook!

At a Milkmen game, and the weather could not be more perfect for this occasion!…read moreI grabbed a cheeseburger for some eats with the family and had quite a few bourbon sours. Be prepared to wait in line for a while to grab drinks and food, and look for shorter lines. Sounds somewhat obvious to look for shorter lines, but you may not know that multiple lines are available. Also, some of them split when you get closer to the checkout area for booze, so take advantage! I will say that the only negative experience I had was being charged for four drinks instead of three when I ordered them on my second time up there. This was a learning experience for me, and I will suggest that you grab receipts or have them texted to you since most transactions will be electronic. I went back and sat down, and it hit me that I just paid more money for fewer drinks, so I checked my credit card app, and sure enough, incorrect charge. I skipped the line and asked to speak with a manager. They made it right and gave me one drink credit back. In the end, I should have caught this, and mistakes do get made. This took up a bit of time, and I missed portions of the game as a result, though they made it right. The seats we got were excellent, and it was great to see the Greendale Cheer Team! Additionally, they launched the best fireworks I have ever heard or seen, probably in my entire life. We were able to bring in water in a container, and they handed out all sorts of swag. This was our first time here, but we'll be back again!

From Atwater park to bradford beach to veterans park, lake shore state park, seven bridges...i could go on and on. I don't care what anyone says about the lake, those trails in front of the water front will always be what I think of when summer comes to mind. while there's the occasional business/restaurant to enjoy (colectivo, northpoint, harbor house come to mind) most of the lake frontage in Milwaukee county is accessible to all. Sure it's not *really* the ocean, but on a summer day when the sun's hitting the surface just right to give off that aquamarine hue, and you can't see over to the foreign nation of Michigan, who's to say differently? So now you'll have to excuse me.. I'd write more, but it's midday on a summer weekend, so it's off to the lakefront for me!
