My experience with this Michaels was pretty strange, but at the end of the day I got the item that…read moreI had ordered online so I think a solid 3-stars is fair for this location. In preparation for my family's first Mother's Day in Florida (my parents relocated this January) my sisters and I decided we would put our gift together there, instead of trying to travel with it. When it comes to crafty gifts and creations, Michaels is my go-to spot. We decided to get a photo enlarged and printed and had to find a frame that would perfectly match my mom's decor. After some serious searching through the inventory of items available for in-store pickup at this Michaels location, we found the one. Imagine my surprise when (while still physically in Philly) I get an email that my online order had been picked up! This was a bit alarming, as I had already paid for the item and I was not sure if there was another in the specific size and color that we needed in stock. I decided to chat online with the support team to get some answers. They instructed me to call the store directly, so that's what I did. When they answered the phone, I shared what had happened but did not share my personal information or order number yet. Immediately, I was met with a "that was a mistake, your order is still here". I asked how they knew that for sure, and how they knew which order was mine. Apparently they have caller ID. Fast forward a few days, my sisters and I arrive to pick up our frame. They can't find it. I'm sure it does not help that the order was marked as picked up so it's likely closed out in their system. It took about 10-15 minutes and the help of another staff member to locate my item. Overall, this was not the experience I expected and it was strangely off putting. I did get the item I paid for and that is what really matters. However, I think that I would have trust issues with online orders from this location in the future.

At Palmetto Patch Nature Store you'll find carefully curated items for the whole family. They had t-shirts, hats, bags, accessories, tumblers, toys, books, sunglasses, mugs, figurines, postcards, glass art, and prints by local artists. I especially loved the nature themed earrings made from cereal box paper board from Jabebo Studio. They also had magic t-shirts that were black and white but when exposed to the sun turned into color. They had a number of interesting Florida themed books on the topics of history and nature including what just might be Florida's favorite book, A Land Remembered which covers 114 years of Florida history. Most importantly they sell sunscreen, bug repellent, and water if you plan on hiking any of the trails at the Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center. Water was only $1 so make sure you stay hydrated. Items from the store can be shipped free to your home by emailing naturestore@rookerybay.org, Volunteers of Rookery Bay get 10 percent off purchases.
