The water was a bit chilly in the low 60s but it was refreshing to swim in when the outside temperature hit 80s. The water was crystal clear on the day we went but I read it could be murky after the rain. It's much bigger than Ponce de Leon which is about 8 minute drive from there so you can even kayak or paddle board. I would highly recommend if you're visiting Panama City area if you need a slight change of scenery.

When we went, we did the boat tour as well, it was pretty cheap for an hour tour and we got to experience the beautiful nature and wildlife. We decided to take an excursion north of the emerald coast and found this charming little lake. It is first come first serve based on the parking situation. We were fortunate to arrive there around noon and allowed in for $4 per car to go into the parking lot and then walked about 200 feet to a small beach with a few benches, a couple of tables on the beach (state park style) and also a covered picnic area. The small beach had a walkway to another area which was the jump in/dive in area of the spring fed lake. The water was cool, but definitely swimmable as there were warm currents mixed with the cold currents from the spring. Reportedly, the water is too cool for alligators which are found more at the mouth of the river feeding this area. We spent around an hour just floating around in the area. Didn't feel cold while in the water (outside temp 84 degrees). People had floaties, tubes, and even paddle boards. There were a few scuba divers as well! Bring your snorkels and other floatation equipment if you want to spend time just floating and looking a the bottom for some interesting scenery under water.

This review is about the tubing. I can't really say I had a…read moregreat time. There were so many trees down in the water we had to constantly get out and figure out how to get our tubes free. I mean, I get it. You can't control where trees fall, but a warning would've been pretty helpful. The guy who gave us instructions in the beginning told us to go a certain way when we got to the bridge, directions which got us trapped in a huge tree in very fast moving water. In the end, we did sign the form saying they weren't responsible for us getting hurt, we just didn't expect how much hurt we were in for. As far as front desk customer service goes... helpful information, not so helpful attitudes.

He gave us parking instructions and a waiver and said, "sign this about all that COVID bull crap." Our car group was not assumed. Most of the other staff seemed friendly enough and most wore masks, but they didn't not require masks worn inside the building. Then on the tubing ride a local started screaming at as from her house because "I find too much litter down there!!" We weren't doing anything wrong so I don't know why she felt the need to scream at us. The people who live on the river clearly resent the tubers.

Quite out of the way from south of the Intercoastal waterway but well worth the trip. Steve and Kathleen are lovely people. We are locals so we booked a two hour ride in early February. The weather was perfect and the horses were great. I rode Jimbo and my son rode Elvis. Elvis was perfect for beginner riders. Very gentle and easy going. Jimbo was cute and had a touch of a teen ager attitude which was fine with me. The two hour ride through the local forest and wetlands protected Forrest. The vista were breathtaking white sand and local flatland. Their website makes great recommendations for water, hats etc. very accommodating and all around pleasant experience. P.S. Jimbo tried to follow me home because I brought him carrots. *wink
