As a matter of fact, I will take the First To Review a place that I grew up going to. With my mom…read moreand older sister highly involved in theater when I was a kid, many times of rehearsals and shows I spent in the audience. My mom even worked for the local theater company... which adds to those nights of doing homework in the seats of the Dothan Opera House. As I got older, I also participated in a few shows here. But most of my time spent here was in the audience. If you compared this theater to some of the great ones in big cities, it might come up a little short. But if you throw in to consideration that it is in a semi small town in south Alabama, it is truly a historic icon that is a great place to watch a show. It has been years since I have come here. But even if they haven't done many updates, everything I remember was pretty good. Comfortable seats with a good view from every seat in the house. The lobby area is a little small. But again, that is if you compare to some of the bigger theaters I have been too. The fact that this theater has withstood the test of time when almost all of entertainment aspect of downtown was non-existent in the 80s and 90s is amazing. Great theater that is a nostalgic icon for me.

The staff was so kind and helpful, they were fun to talk to. Yes, the bridge is locked off from all foot traffic by iron gates. I'm guessing that this was done to prevent the neer-do-wells from filling the interior with graffiti, something I've seen done to other covered bridges. There is access to the bridge from both sides of the creek, but the far side has better parking and even a few picnic benches. The view from there is way better too. This…read moreparticular Angel of Hope is in Dothan, Alabama and was the 120th bronze statue that has been erected in the United States of America and around the world to help with those who mourn the loss of a child. The angel's face is looking upwards towards Heaven and the angel's arms are reaching out to welcome home all who come to her. It gives a place for someone to grieve and process such a loss. The Angel of Hope is a very moving spot and I found it therapeutic to sit at a bench and allow myself to think and allow my soul to seek solace. If you are in the Dothan, Alabama area, I would definitely recommend a visit here, especially if you have suffered such a devastating loss. There is solace here, there is peace. I give here five stars.
