Modern decor, very nicely done with high ceilings. Not what you would expect in a small town like Littleton--decor is more of what you would see in North Hills...Food overall was very good. Nice blueberry walnut salad and clam chowder. Pork chop was very tasty and served with awesome brussel sprouts and sweet potato. The highlight was their risotto, topped with tender beef and mushrooms, the risotto had a great texture and cheesy, garlicky flavor. Deserts were the disappointment, the creme brulee was soupy, and the buckeye was served with a nice ice cream and crisp underneath--but the chocolate roll was just OK. Great, no rushing service. read more

I love having a restaurant like the Blue Jay Bistro in our area! When I moved back to Roanoke Rapids from Maryland, I missed premier restaurants with great food, service, and ambiance. The Blue Jay has it all. read more

The Blue Jay Bistro is a great dining experience and unexpected for Littleton! It is classy and all of the staff is incredibly kind and attentive. I split the burger and jambalaya with a friend. Both were incredible. The jambalaya was noodles and not like anything I've had before. read more

We didn't know what to expect when we first walked by the restaurant. The employee from the business next door told us we had try it out. We ordered the ribs with the blackberry sauce, steak risotto, and shrimp with grits. Everything was phenomenal from the first bite to the last bite. Chef gave a nice spin on the traditional Shrimp with Grits. To top it off, we couldn't leave without out some dessert and cappuccino. Our waiter Devin, who was so amazing, recommended the peach cheesecake. It was the best cheesecake I've ever had. The flavors meld together beautifully and every bite was so delicious. If I wasn't so full, I would've ordered another cheesecake to go. read more

We were in Littleton to see our son play at The Acorn Center and found Blue Jay Bistro. We walked in and discovered a beautiful oasis in this little town. Our server explained everything was made from scratch and that dinner is a great experience. We only had about an hour and a half window. She went into the kitchen and explained the situation and everyone couldn't have been more accommodating. My son and I had the best pork chops we ever tasted, my wife had the homemade pappardelle, which was amazing. We started with two apps, the bread plate and a burrata, which were amazing. We had a gelato dessert and drinks with everything. The service was top notch, the food even better, and the nicest people in the world making sure we were happy and on time. Please make sure you visit here when you're in the area, you won't be disappointed! read more

The best food and service in the area by a huge margin. Blue Jay was lovely in all respects. We were welcomed and checked in on by the manager, the food was perfectly prepared and artfully plated, the wine list was good, and desserts delicious. We spent a week eating all over the Lake Gaston area and this is the only restaurant we'd return to. Highly recommended. read more

A lovely experience! The food, wine, ambience, and service were stellar. Made my bday celebration so special. A gem, for sure!

This place was great. We had the hanger steak, short ribs, and short rib empanadas. We also had the banana beignets and olive oil cake (which I had never heard of before). Everything was excellent, ... well prepared and lots of flavor. The manager came out to tell me that my hanger steak wasn't right so they had to prepare another one. Nice touch! The staff was on point and the ambiance inviting. We highly recommend this place in little Littleton. A real find and worth the drive from Raleigh ... part of our Foodie Trip series (food destinations within easy driving distance from the capital city). read more

Wife had the Scallops (pan seared) duck fat grits, molasses cured duck bacon, wilted greens and cherry pecan argodolce. Service was outstanding. The food was excellent... good variety, very tasty and beautiful presentation. The restaurant has three distinct dining areas - a dining room upfront, then a collection of more intimate booths, and lastly a bar area... all three spaces are great, and gives you the ability to have a date night, or drinks with friends... as each space provides a different persona. We will definitely be back. Loved it. read more

What an amazing pearl tucked away in Eastern North Carolina. Blue Jay punches above its weight in a major city, let alone a lake town. Apparently the owners are from the area and have done well for themselves. Time to give back, Blue Jays seems to be part of a regional non profit revitalization effort which involves a brewery, artist collective and even a charter school. As for the food, it is venture off 95 for 25 mins worthy. If you want high class food in the low country, this is your spot. We had amazing service, couldn't recommend more. read more

Came here last year for the first time for our wedding anniversary, and enjoyed it so much we had to do it again this year. Once again, the food was incredible, the service was fantastic, and the whole night was nothing short of phenomenal. We will return for sure. This year we had the Chicken Fried Oysters, Country Ham and Cheddar Biscuits, Barbecue Quail, Pork Chop.... Not Vindaloo, Campfire S'mores, and Grapefruit Panna Cotta (had a different name but I cannot remember), and Strawberry Coconut Mocktails. read more

We arrived for our reservation and were seated in the bar area. My husband and I started off a round of drinks, it was a beer for me and the sunset peach cocktail for him. I also tried a pour of the tempranillo and port. To start for food we chose the squash soup. Next it was the pork chop for me and the flounder for him and we split the hazelnut nutella for dessert. The drinks, food and service were great. It is expensive but Blue Jay Bistro is a must visit if you are in Littleton. read more

Nothing short of phenomenal! This was a 10/10 experience - food, service, ambiance, we had such a memorable meal for our first wedding anniversary while staying nearby. Our food was exceptionally seasoned, plated beautifully, and had such great flavor. In addition to the absolutely superb food, we enjoyed a few drinks - and the chocolate raspberry martini was the perfect way to end the meal. You won't regret an evening here and I hope to return when we are back in the area. read more

Great food, great service and the atmosphere was beautiful. We went for our wedding anniversary which was on NYE so they had a fixed menu. When we arrived to our table they had a Happy Anniversary card on the table which the employees had signed. We can't wait to go back and try out the entire menu. Highly recommend! read more

One of the few "fine dining" choices near Kerr & Gaston lakes. Food was better than average, if not spectacular. Service was friendly and helpful, if inexperienced. Nice outdoor patio area. Prices were high enough to expect the food to be spectacular and service experienced, but hopefully they'll survive a difficult environment long enough to kick it up to that level. read more

Great experience!! Limited menu but excellent food! Top notch service ! Just bring your wallet! $$$

My wife and I had dinner reservations for 630 and were immediately seated at our table. The restaurant had a nice anniversary card at the table for us. The drinks were plenty and the food offered was cooked to our taste. The selection was limited but we enjoyed everything including the drinks. I have included a picture of our dessert which we devoured. read more

Friends had raved to us for months about Blue Jay Bistro. So last night was our first time. The food was delicious and the flounder was seasoned and prepared with perfection. The ambiance is that of a five star restaurant with beautiful decor! And we would have given five stars except for their wait staff appearance. Our server was good but dressed like western attire while the other staff was a mismatch of clothing with no uniformity. The first young lady to greet us with water looked more like the dishwasher with a half apron and stood in the dinning room throughout the meal as if ready to bus the tables. Again the food was great but we expected a much more polished appearance to match the fine decor. read more

We came here for a nice dinner on our girls trip to Lake Gaston, and I cannot express how incredibly amazing this place is...the service was outstanding and Haley the bartender made us each a custom cocktail based on our tastes. The manager/owner was so friendly and kind and made sure we have an amazing experience. I can barely find the words to use to describe the food and how beyond delicious everything we had was. From the apps to the entrees to the desserts, there a few places that I have tasted better food. Do not miss an opportunity to come here if you can, you will not be disappointed! read more

I have eaten across the globe at Michelin starred restaurants, and I am astounded at the quality of the food, service and ambiance at this restaurant in the middle of small town USA. When I say five stars hands down!! I love love love this place it was phenomenal. The service the drinks the dishes! The ambience. I've been eyeing this place since we moved here in September and I'm so happy we finally went. It's reservation only and I was thankful we were able to get our booth for two. We came in and we were seated immediately. It was a bit of a wait before we were asked what we wanted to drink but we had time to peruse the menu. I think the bartenders name was Sarah. She was phenomenal. She gave my baby daddy a drink called blue lagoon I think and she made a drink up for me that was phenomenal. All of her recommendations were on point. My baby daddy doesn't even drink but he enjoyed all of the drinks we had. We ordered the oysters and the duck for our appetizers, all of the sauces were great and perfect compliments and the dishes were fried and seasoned to perfection. For our entrees we got the short rib and the hangar steak but we swapped the sides out for the sides of the chicken. And then we ordered another appetizer of oysters and another bartender creation of a drink. I would come here again and again. I plan to whenever I visit my baby dad and his family. FIVE STARS! Compliments to the chef, staff and bartender! read more

Ok the food here was amazing I had the Duck which was cooked to perfection and the side that came with it was just the cherry on top. The service was also good the waiter was always so helpful and it's options and the manager was so good to us he tried to make a drink I didn't even know and I thankful for his help trying to recreate it. The ambiance of the place is so nice but not to nice that you feel like you need to come to it's a suit and tie. I loved their outdoor space it had an amazing fire pit where me and my girl just relaxed. read more

We had the pleasure of enjoying the food at Blue Jay Bistro over the summer. Food was excellent! Service was excellent! I wish the prices were more reflective of the area for those that live in/near Littleton. And not based on those that have vacation homes that are rented out. read more

They told us we had a reservation and when we arrived said they didn't have any space. Just don't bother. 313 Franklin is amazing. Go there.

Can't review the food because we didn't even get seated. Made a reservation and arrived at the restaurant. It was 41 degrees outside and they wanted to seat us outside with my 80 year old mom. We asked for a table inside (reservation did NOT specify outdoor seating) and they said there was nothing else available even with plenty of open seats inside. We left as we could not sit outside in 41 degrees with an elderly person. Very disappointed. read more

Worth traveling to dine here. Scallop dish was phenomenal. Had flavor, texture, and presentation. Hams and Jams was also a real winner. We sat on the patio which was very comfortable. Fantastic experience last night at Blue Jay Bistro. We arrived 15 minutes early and were immediately escorted outside to their delightful covered patio to sit by the fire pit. We all ordered delicious cocktails and thoroughly enjoyed our wait. They seated us at our table after about 20 minutes. Our group decided to start with the Hams and Jams and the veggie fries. Both were delicious. For dinner we had a couple of the kale salads to share for the table. For entrees we did the short ribs and the catfish. We finished up the evening with the s'mores, cheesecake and sorbet desserts. It was all excellent. We will definitely return often. read more
