Avoid using this company at all costs. I'm posting this review because Matt, also known as Richard…read moreMatthew Shane, is completely unprofessional. When he first came to my business to close a deal, he was incredibly cocky and arrogant. He flaunted his Rolex and boasted about his wealth, showing me pictures of his expensive house. He bragged about his connections and claimed he could quickly sell my business. During our conversation, he showed me pictures of high-profile clients at boat parties with prostitutes and talked about his lavish lifestyle, including wanted to buy a ring for his girlfriend but she would need to accept his lifestyle. Despite these red flags, I was willing to work with him if he could sell my business quickly. I had an active business I wanted to sell discreetly, with no name or address disclosed until a potential buyer was found. Matt agreed to keep it quiet and share it only with his network. However, the next morning, I received multiple calls about my business. He had listed it on MLS with all the details, business name, address, phone number and pictures. Outraged, I demanded he take down the listing immediately. Instead, he sent a withdrawal form stating he would only remove the listing if I agreed to keep the commission contract in place for ten months. This was outrageous, as he lied and then tried to secure his commission within 12 hours. His assistant, Diane Keegan, handled the follow-up communications and supported his actions, showing she was complicit in his unethical behavior. I have since retained a lawyer and sent a demand letter to remove the listing. Despite this, Matt and his team insist on keeping the commission contract in place if the business sells. I'm now pursuing legal action, regardless of the cost, because he thinks he can bully others due to his wealth. He chose the wrong fight, and I am prepared to see this through out of principle. It was my mistake not to research his firm thoroughly. He has a history of litigation involving unprofessional and corrupt practices. He may close deals, but he lacks business integrity. If this review prevents even one person from using his services, it will be worth it. I hope many others choose to avoid him after reading this. Stay far away from this company. This is one star to many that he even gets. It should be a zero star rating.

I saw an apartment listing on CL by one of the agents, Frances Owen. The listing said to text or…read morecall her. After a week of no response I decided to call her when I saw she had updated the listing. She hung up on me after being extremely rude on the phone and told me to go live on a "farm" because of the kind of pet I have (it is a teacup pig which is the size of a cat, fully grown. I have been living in other apartments for the past 2 years without a problem). I called her back because she didn't even ask the owners of the apartment if it was ok (she told me at the beginning of the phone call that she doesn't know if pets are allowed). She then threatened to call the police on me and report me for harassment. I want to add that this listing has been on CL for about a month, and it is obvious why it hasn't been rented out yet- because this agent has no clue how to do her job. Clearly she doesn't know how to represent the company she works for. I would not recommend this group to anyone after my experience.

Google "The truth about teacup pigs" I quote - "There really is no such thing as a teacup pig" they can grow to be 100 pounds. Having said that, we have been working with Fran to find two apartments for the past three weeks. There has never been a time when she hasn't called us back. She has been amazing! Never wasting our time with things we didn't want to see and advocating for us to have our dog. I see now that the world has truly gone nuts. Get a grip lady. Pigs need space not apartments - try not to take that out on somebody's career - Bad Karma!!

I hired Dan Adams of Real Living Innovations of Wantagh to sell the home of my elderly parents in…read moreMerrick. I had seen his stellar Zillow reviews, although I was a bit skeptical upon meeting him (he showed up significantly late for a first meeting that I flew in from Chicago for and was on a tight schedule). I can't imagine that I could have had a worse experience with Dan. I have since learned that Zillow picks and chooses which reviews it will publish so it is not an independent source. It makes me wonder if the other reviews on Zillow are truly real reviews and if many poor reviews of Dan were purposely excluded by Zillow as mine has been.. As a positive for Dan, I will say that he represented the home while my dad was ill and my mom was with him at their home in FL and that my brother and I both live out of state. Dan was helpful in ensuring the house was maintained during the 7 - 8 months he had the listing while no one was living there. He helped us get a leak in the radiator fixed and also alerted us and fixed a gas smell created by an extinguished pilot light. With that said, the list of negative issues is long: 1) In the first meeting we discussed pricing the home. I told Dan what I felt was a fair selling price for the home. He told me at the price I suggested that I would be leaving money on the table and that I should price the home for $30K - $40K more than what I thought. We listed for about $30K above my initial thoughts. In 8 months Dan did not bring me one offer within $65K of the price he thought we should list it at. 2) On 3 - 4 occasions Dan told me he had an offer on the table. Each time the offer was far lower than expected. Each time Dan told me he would go back and negotiate the deal up. Each time I never heard about the offer again. There was no back and forth, nothing in writing to prove there was an offer and ultimately nothing got done. 3) Dan extended the MLS listing three months beyond our contractual date without written permission from my mom, the home owner. While I was content to continue working with Dan at the time, I had no idea that the extension was for three months and not just month to month. When I was considering making a change and called other brokers they had concerns that they would be stepping on Dan's toes if they came to our home to take the listing from him. 4) Dan never called to strategize about pricing or to give detailed updates about activity levels on the listing. I had to call Dan myself and two times ask him to lower the price to see if that would help sell the home. 5) Dan (or he claims his office) lowered the price on the MLS listing without any approval. It was a small incremental reduction likely to send out information to the market to increase activity. He never complied with my request to change the price back to where it had been. When I brought this to his attention he told me that I had never asked him to change it back. 6) Dan's original summary description for the MLS was poorly written and I had to rewrite it myself. 7) After several months with the listing Dan phoned me and asked if he could slightly change the wording of the description. After he explained to me what he wanted to do I told him I had no problem with the change. He never made the change after we had that conversation. 8) Dan's ReMax office must have changed its affiliation to RealLiving during the course of our agreement. Dan never reached out to let us know of this change. A friend of my mom's drove by the house and told her that the sign in front had seemed to changed and asked if we had changed brokers. 9) In mid April 2014 I let Dan know that my mom was coming back to Merrick from Florida during the last week of April. Dan nicely offered to have the house cleaned. Dan failed to notify his office that my mom would be in the house and that they should contact her for all showings. In early May, to my mom's surprise, a buyer and broker showed up at the house and let themselves in while my mom was there. When I mentioned this to Dan all he could say was that he didn't know what day my mom was coming home. I had told him on several occasions, the last week of April. 10) Generally, throughout the term of our contract with Dan I found him to be less than communicative. I believe that Dan grossly took advantage of our family all being out of town during the course of this listing arrangement. I strongly recommend that anyone considering using Dan as a broker should closely monitor him as perhaps he can be successful if he is well managed.
