Chirashi
Susan H.

Spacious, clean, and friendly knowledgeable staff. My Chirashi order was impressive and positively delicious! Husband's order of Eel Roll, Salmon Skin Roll and Spicy Salmon hand roll was equally delicious and satisfying. Even the green tea was refreshing. Definitely give this place a try when you're in the mood for fresh, delicious and expertly prepared sushi!

We came here on a Sunday night for dinner. It was not too busy and we were seated right away. We started with the Philadelphia roll, which was fresh and delicious. For my meal I had one of the specialty rolls and it was one of the best rolls I have ever had. I wish I would have remembered the name. My spouse has the ramen which he enjoyed, especially since it was so cold outside. The waitress was friendly, and the food came out very fast.

It breaks my heart knowing one day i will have to move away from wichita and no longer get to dine at blue fin for their delicious sushi. I will continue to claim blue fin as the best sushi place in all of wichita bar none. Ambiance, price, service, quality? nothing beats it. I can write for hours on how much i love this place and show them endless amounts of pictures taken on countless dates. If you love Raw sushi this place is for you. If you like cooked sushi, this place is for you. If you love sushi but everyone else in your family doesn't, this place is for you!

The sauce on chicken katsu bento was literally BBQ sauce with sesame seeds sprinkled on top, which is not authentic at all. The sushi rolls and nigiri was pretty good. The rest of the food was decent. The inside is nothing special and has plenty of seating. On the bright side, it was not busy and the food arrived relatively quickly after ordering off the menu. Overall, this place earns 3 and a half stars.

Stopped by for dinner after seeing the wichita thunder play. Took a few minutes for someone to seat us as we were standing there staring at the staff while they were all busy. I feel like they need a wall divider to block the view of the restaurant when you in, to hide and section off the restaurant Someone stated this was the best sushi place in wichita and I would beg to differ. The sushi was good, but the best. There is a bar hidden out of sight until you get seated. There's also a private room available for rent. Our waitress was very sweet and nice and attentive. That makes any dining experience so much better! 3/5 - gyoza 3/5 - mixed tempura 2/5 - Combo C 3/5 - sexy roll 3/5 - spider roll 3/5 - salmon volcano 3/5 - Spider-Man I think there are other places that have better sushi.

Went with my girlfriend a couple weeks ago and love this place! The food, service, and ambiance is great!

One of the best places in wichita to get sushi. The rice to fish ratio is always perfect while the fish is always fresh and rice never dry. They have a great selection of rolls and a good happy hour. If you are wanting some fresh sushi in wichita is with great service I would recommend blue fin.

Udon Snack Size

The service was great and no wait time when we went. The atmosphere was average with plenty of seating. The food was good. The higher priced sushi tend to have more in them. This place was more of a 3.5 stars but I rounded up. The appetizers were great and the udon was only available in snack size.

New in town and since we are from CA decided to check out the sake bar! Our server was really nice and conversational. She went over her favorites there and what was popular. We ended up going with a few of their rolls and some nigiri. It was all pretty good! The drinks were unique and went well with the food. Try the fruity sake flight! Will return!

Downtown already with my boys, I brought them here for early dinner. Walking in, the host told us it would be a 30-minute wait. He told the people behind us the same thing, but yet we were still seated within five minutes. SCORE. With an impressive selection of rolls to choose from, my kids went nuts...and ordered California Rolls. Oh well, I'll teach them culture eventually. As for me, I went with Eel and Avocado, Spicy Tuna, and Spicy Salmon. I've had Sushi all around the world and simply know what I like. This was very good. Service was good, food was stellar, and my kids were happy. Is there a better experience?

The sushi here is prob the best I've found in Wichita so far. My last visit we had a long wait time for our food but I'm sure it's due to a staff shortage. Our waitress seemed to be having to wait on the whole dining room floor. Please show your servers grace during this time as they can't help what's going on in the world right now. Once our food arrived it was delicious. Check out my photos I took there of our tables food. We will definitely go back.

Hibachi Chicken the veggies were perfectly cooked. Rice had great flavor as did the chicken.

This place is amazing. We just flew into town and looked it up. Did not disappoint. The food is amazing. Quaint place. The service was beyond so quick and on top of everything! Can't wait to come back!

Waited an hour and a half for our food that never came before we walked out. No apologies from the staff. Just kept saying 2 more minutes.

I'm a regular at this restaurant because the food is consistently delicious and the service is…read moregreat--but tonight, I left disappointed enough to write this review. We came in as a party of five at 8:30pm, fully aware they close at 9. We ordered quickly and respectfully, excited to enjoy one of my favorite dishes: the chicken katsu. I've raved about it to friends, especially the generous portions--normally two large, pounded-out chicken breasts per order. But tonight was a different story. We ordered a bibimbap, 10 wings, a roll, gyoza, a child's katsu, tempura and two chicken katsu meals (close to $20 each). For our katsus instead of full portions, it was obvious the kitchen split one order between both plates--then handed the scraps to the child's meal, which we were told would be "half" an adult size. It wasn't even close. Not only was the portion insulting, but the food wasn't fresh. The chicken was dry, overcooked, and hard as a rock. I couldn't even bite through one piece--I had to spit it out. When we brought it up, they offered 10% off. Honestly, that felt like a slap in the face. I had just convinced people to come here based on how good this meal used to be, and instead I ended up apologizing to my guests for bringing them here and still paid for meals we weren't fully served. If you were low on chicken, in a rush to close, or just had a lazy cook that night--own it. Don't try to pass off a single meal as two. That's not just disappointing--it's dishonest. This experience was a joke. And if that's how regulars get treated, I will regular no more.

The sushi was wrapped really loosely and fell apart while I picked it up with chopsticks. My husband's beef teriyaki was good and he had no qualms on the flavor but again presentation was a little messy. Service was good. They refilled our waters and soda without issue. The food came out sporadically and was not sent out together, which left my husband waiting to eat while my food got cold (crispy rice) and then warm (sushi), respectively. Ambiance was dark and moody. Like hard to see dark; there was not enough light from the tiny candle on the table to make up for it. I get the vibe but I would opt for more light overall. The decorations on the walls were tasteful. The overhead lighting felt like they raided the outdoor patio light section of Lowe's when it was clearance in the seasonal garden section. The Tiber on the walls was nice but again felt a bit DIY. My biggest issue was with the tableware. I understand that disposable chopsticks are easier than reusable ones but honestly it would have elevated the meal a lot for me. I know it's picky but for the vibe and location it seems like it would have been an easy add.

The decor and ambiance of the place is very nice, and makes you want to stay and just look at the work they put in to decorate the place. I really do love the aesthetics. The staff are very nice and pleasant, they check in a lot and it seems as though they do know the menu well. I think they go above and beyond if you tell them it's your first time there. I have tried their Takoyaki, Steamed pork AND chicken rice buns, Omurice, Kyushu Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen, and Matcha Tiramisu. Takoyaki: Good, the takoyaki is fresh and hot when it comes out, crispy exterior, smooth/creamy interior with the octopus. The octopus are decent sized chunks as well and taste good. I do wish that it had more of the takoyaki sauce and Japanese mayo. It's kind of expensive for what it is, Mirai Ramen has a better deal for takoyaki and tastewise I would say it's on the same level or slightly better. Steamed pork/chicken Rice Buns: I thought these were great, both meats tasted good and I liked the rice buns. Good portions of meat, good meat to bun ratio as well. I think they are a little overpriced, but I don't think you can find anything similar elsewhere in Wichita so for what it is, its good. Omurice: Honestly a bit of a let down, it's okay I've had better (not in Wichita), but I don't think you can get this dish anywhere else here. The rice is kind of bland, but the omelet on top is made nicely, I liked the curry over the demiglace but both are solid choices. I personally like it without the tonkatsu, but it is still good with it. If you're in Wichita and have never tried omurice before or are really craving it, it's worth getting. I wouldn't come here just for this. Kyushu Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen: It's mid. Overpriced bowl of ramen, especially when there are actually decent bowls in Wichita already. The noodles felt soft, and I was not impressed by the broth either. Toppings themselves were okay. Portion size is good for one person, they could have added more noodles. I did not win the "prize" at the bottom for completing the bowl, but it's fun to try! I wouldn't come here for the ramen itself however. Matcha Tiramisu: I LOVED the matcha tiramisu here, perfect bite and balances sweetness with the earthiness of matcha very well. I think that anyone who likes matcha will like this dessert, my only suggestion would be to make the matcha taste stronger? But that's a personal preference of mine. It would also be nice if the portion was slightly larger. Overall, I would come back here for a date night or for the appetizers and dessert, but if I'm looking for a good bowl of ramen or another Japanese entree, I'm definitely going elsewhere.

You used to be able to sit just a bit an enjoy your food. Not anymore. It's understandable that you need to get customers in and out in a reasonable time. However, even 30 extra minutes would be good. Just as soon as all the meats were done and put on our plates, the waiter came and told us we'd have a little bit of time to eat, and he'd be bring out the sorbet. The taste of the food itself is not the same either. It was okay but not anything to rave about or drive to the west side of town for. Also, there is no attention to cross contamination. The same utensils are used for seafood, poultry, and the meat. Our chef decided to keep the cooked shrimp pieces for the shrimp toss off to the side and they sat until all the other food was done. A piece of shrimp had fell on a piece of paper and he put it back on the grill before throwing it someone. Not the most sanitary there. Our chef and waiter were friendly. Overall, this would be a great 6/10 experience.

When we first got to the restaurant, we were seated fairly quickly, but it took a while for the waitress to come over to take our food order and even give us our drinks. And then when she did take our order, she had to come back multiple times to ask questions that we had already answered. So the service started out on the low side. However, then things started to get better. When they found out I had a seafood allergy, they came over to the table about 3 - 4 times to make sure that the food I was ordering was not going to give me a negative reaction which I really appreciated. And after I got my food, they came back again to make sure everything was enjoyable. We also got a different waiter, about half way through because our waitress was getting off, which may have impacted the initial service we got. The waiter who helped us on the second half of our visit was very attentive and checked on us continuously. The food was also really good. I got fried oysters which were very large and flavorful. My husband got wings and my daughter got pot stickers. We enjoyed all of the food. I ended up getting the salmon teriyaki bowl that was tasty and my husband and daughter both got fried rice, which they also enjoyed.
