TLDR/ Would go again tomorrow that's how good this spot is! Really tasty and affordable wok style food! Food: 5/5 Food was tasty and spiced well. Bam bam chicken was good but next time we will get the extra chicken for the up charge as the portion was slightly small. The tofu is fried really well! I loved the drunken noodles and would get them again. The spicy basil beef was also flavorful and fried up in a good crispy kind of way. I loved the spicy chili oil, so worth the $.50 cent charge. Service: 5/5 The customer service was good. They even checked in after bringing our food to the table. It's a weird mix of fast casual and sit down. Not sure what to make of it but they seem to care. Ambience: 3/5 The fixtures and some of the plants were dusty. It is a pet peeve of mine to keep dust to a minimum, as that is basically human skin that is just floating around and could end up on my food. Other than that and the floor not being too clean the place lacks a certain polish and could be a little nicer. There was just a few thing that were out of place, it made it feel like maybe there was some deferred maintenance that should be addressed. read more

this location is so slow! i would advise anyone to not go here any day of the week past 5pm.. they also treat uber eats drivers and doordash drivers like shit and will complain when they have a few orders to fulfill.. if your gonna go expect atleast 30 minute wait, rude service, and complaining workers read more

Food is decent. Not the best sushi. If you plan on ordering online expect it to be over an hour regardless of posted wait time. Granted this is a Sunday evening before Christmas week. Either way, the online time estimator needs adjusting based on staff available, total number of orders, etc. read more

Hibachi Boy - Chicken Pad Thai Noodles - Japanese Near Me - Derby, Kansas

Everyone has a smile and the food is good. Prices are, imho, just a tad high. Kids might still be hungry, very small kid portions. Adults portions are average. My husband is picky about his Pad Thai, and this is the only other place besides Thai House he'll order it. So if that's your thing, be sure to give it a try. I'm a hibachi + any meat kid of girl. Like their Habatchi Shrimp and fried rice the most. They give you real glasses, so if you like water with your meal like I do, you'll have a full size glass! Fellow water lovers will understand most places give you a thimble-equivalent for water. We like to come here occasionally when in the area. read more

I am disappointed in this location. I am a regular at this store and every time I want sushi for dinner I am denied. This time I caught the boys name, Taylor. The hours on the door and google are the same so there is no reason I should be getting turned away 30-45 min before close so he can leave early and not because the store is having problems or out of most inventory. I know multiple other people in derby that have experienced this and it is truly unacceptable and have definitely lost multiple customers because of it. read more

I am from Dallas and I came up here to visit my boyfriend. I was craving sushi and Hibachi Boy popped up. I ordered the WSU Roll, Hibachi Boy Entree with Beef, and Volcano Fried Rice. I was truly amazed. The cooks know what they're doing. The hibachi beef was amazingly seasoned. I finished the whole plate. Wsu roll was 6/10. It wasn't terrible but I've had better rolls. Will try a different roll next time. Volcano fried rice was so good. Me and my boyfriend ended up going to the Wichita location too since it's so good. Please open one up in Dallas. We are addicted. read more

Hibachi Boy - Combo Teriyaki Bowl - Japanese Near Me - Derby, Kansas

We ordered through Uber eats delivery and did not receive one of our meals and another was not made correctly. When we called the restaurant to explain the situation, we were told to contact Uber eats to get the food remade and they would not assist us. As well when explaining the situation at the end they hung up on us. The food that was delivered was ok at best. The sushi was warm not cold and the rice tasted old. Will not be ordering from them again. read more

Third strike, y'all continue to fail. They cant follow simple instructions, recently missed half our order and acted like I was inconveniencing them by asking for the rest of my food. They refused to do anything about the order. Thanks for wasting my money read more

The food is great and fresh every time I get it! I can eat the leftovers for 2 days they give that much food! The service is good they are just pretty slow every time I go there I always expect a 20 minute wait read more

It's dusty, and the bathroom is dirty. The girl and boy at the front were dropping the F word, and I'm their with my child.

Portion size was great and food tasted excellent. 2nd time here and definitely coming back.

Tried to place a to go order and after 5 tries my call finally went through, just to be placed on hold for 20 minutes. Arrived and was still on hold, the restaurant wasn't even busy. Server was unapologetic about it all and made for a poor experience from the start. Decided to go elsewhere. read more

The place was extremely clean, food and service was excellent. We ordered sweet and sour chicken as well as hibachi beef and it was delicious! Despite the "bad reviews" we decided to give it a try and I'm so glad we did! Highly recommend! read more

As somebody who greatly enjoys Asian inspired cuisine, I definitely recommend Hibachi Boy. Like many, I've had my fair share of bad hibachi experiences and poor quality grocery store sushi, but fortunately this was not the case here. We both ordered items from the hibachi (meals range between $7-$9, with steamed/fried rice, noodles, grilled vegetables, and choice of meat), their "Big Boy" platter (3x Crab Rangoon, Vietnamese style spring rolls, fried dumplings), and sushi. All of which tasted great. TheSushi, didn't have the ill fated fishy smell or soft mushy texture plaguing many other sushi joints, instead it was freshly made to order and firm. On the subject of sushi, they come in three different tiers. The more premium ingredients, obviously more expensive than the more common. All of which come in a range of 6-10 pieces for a more than fair price, $6-$11 depending on tier and quantity. The floors were very clean until somebody with muddy boots walked in, carpets cleaned. The booths very comfortable, even as I've been sitting for thirty minutes eating, and writing this review. The seat backs offer optimal support to myself and my girlfriend with scoliosis. The over all aesthetic brings a dark open ceiling, with lightly decorated traditionally colored walls. For those who enjoy it, the tables come furnished with the typical sriracha, soy sauce, and even hot chili oil. All in all, I believe Hibachi Boy's only negative is that they're located on the corner of a strip mall, behind trees, in Derby, KS, making it easy to drive past. So, if you've made it this far into my review, why aren't you driving there now? read more

If you like heat/jalepeno, try the volcano rice. Add meat to veggies to combo it. My favorite. Delish.

This restaurant isn't consistent but when it's on target, it's delicious. I've ordered the fried rice with tofu 6+ times. 3/4 of the time, it's delicious. The other times the rice had hard pieces--either not cooked or dried out and inedible; tofu was overcooked; had none of the usual seasoning. Last night I ordered Crunchy Crab which was delicious and 2 wontons. The wontons were poorly constructed and ice cold. Not cooled, but actually chilled. I gave them 4 stars because when good, it's great. But management needs to work on "chef" consistency read more

I ordered 3 dishes from here yesterday. ALL were disappointing to both me and my mother. 1) the "spicy" basil chicken- if it was seasoned with black pepper it would have been spicier. I ordered it special with no mushrooms, came with mushrooms. 2) I ordered the big boy platter, it came with only with one spring roll instead of three. 3) I ordered a side of mixed veggies and they were overcooked. The price is not worth it. read more

Not a great experience for takeout we ordered potstickers and they didn't come with any dipping sauce. The food was too salty for my taste and value just wasn't there read more

I called to place a pickup order at 3pm. It rang and rang until it went to voicemail. I called back and placed my order. I picked up the order and the bag was tied up. I assumed silverware, chop sticks, soy sauce, etc would be in the bag. Nope! We ate our combo fried rice with our fingers and a plastic lid from a Sonic cup. I also had an Alaska roll which was really good, but both the rice and roll would've been so much better with soy sauce. Food - 5 stars. Service - 1 star. read more

The food and service is not too bad if you dine in..reason for the 1 star is for the little kids that takes the orders because the past few times we have ordered to go they forget stuff. I know I should of checked our order before we left, but thought it be common sense. I ordered some sushi and other stuff. I made sure to tell them don't forget the wassabi, soy sauce etc. Because they forgot the other times. So what do have nothing, no wassabi, soy sauce, chop sticks, forks, napkins, shit. How dumb u gotta be? Wassabi and soy sauce is like burger and fries with ketchup to dip. I had shit to dip!!! read more

Amazing food. Seriously, top of the line quality food but it takes FOREVER if you order in person. I've been waiting over 45 minutes for my food, and people who have ordered after me have received their food before me. I'm not a Karen, and I try to never leave bad reviews but it's absurd. This is the best asian fast food orientated restaurant has to offer around the derby area. From your stirred fried noodles to hibachi style entree and even a sushi menu. I come here and can always get different items without having my taste buds being bored. This restaurant is definitely oriented to middle to low class offering single digit price for QUALITY asian-style food. DO NOT compare this to a high end asian dining restaurant. The price and quality can compared to that of chipotle. I would give hibachi boy a try if you're need a quick fix for asian food without denting your wallet. My recommendation is the Hibachi Chicken, Teriyaki bowls, and my all time favorite the Drunken Noodle. You can also never go wrong with their fried rice. read more

Sushi...great Noodles...great Rice...great Selection...great Price...great If you have a craving for really good Japanese (Asian) food without the pomp and circumstance (and price) of a table show at a traditional hibachi grill, this is the place for you. Good staff, quick service and affordable price combine to make this a great change from the typical Chinese takeout option when you want a taste of the Far East. I'm a huge fan of the noodles, and there is always an assortment of sushi rolls on the table, courtesy of my wife and kids. Eating with only chopsticks makes it taste the best...so practice! read more

Recommend getting the big boy appetizer (3 crab rangoons, 3 spring rolls, 3 pot stickers). All three were really good. We had hibachi jalapeño chicken that was good, but will order something else different next time. We tried the sushi as well. Eel roll and crispy spicy tuna roll. They were tasty. Of course I've had better, but those places costed twice as much. Good food. Good value. read more
