My sweet 16 year old teeny chihuahua hurt herself last week. We took her to a 24/7 vet hospital two days ago and it was a terrible experience without adequate care for Gigi. I called Blue Cross first thing Monday morning and they were able to see us in the afternoon. The front desk ladies were so kind and empathetic. We got back in the room very soon after we arrived. The intake tech was also really great. Dr Whittaker was phenomenal. So caring, kind and empathetic. Taking time to talk with us and gather information about what we thought happened (tweaking her neck by jumping onto the couch out of our arms). He did an exam and agreed based on his professional assessment. He then took time to discuss all of the three medications they suggest and what he thought about each. He also let the ultimate decision be up to us to choose based on his explanation. I really appreciated that as well as not pushing a ton of expensive tests on us. Tonight she is a tad bit more mobile and ate out of a bowl as I held it tonight instead of the syringe we had to do it with when it first happened. We will be returning when needed for sure. Thank you so much for a pleasant experience!

Thank you for a stress free visit. I appreciate you. Especially grooming my lady parts.

My sweet little Widdle

Absolutely love these people! The entire staff is friendly and helpful. The veterinarians are thorough, honest and informative. Dr. Vasquez has been amazing at knowing exactly what my little one needs and doesn't need. I've been bringing my dog here for ever and a few family pets also. My dog is a little pain and typically does not enjoy going but always leaves happy and well taken care of. They work around his biting and being a jerk so kindly since they have had so many years to get to know him. I trust this clinic and recommend them to anyone who really loves there pet.

I wanted to try out a new place for my son and I read a lot about Blue Cross Pet Hospital and WOW! I could not be more impressed. I felt so safe and cared for. Doctor Roberta Raymond was absolutely amazing and so kind and just PHENOMENAL! I felt supported and loved. I will definitely come here again when needed, and not have to worry about a single thing! My son is in such great hands. And Michael Raymond was so incredibly kind as well! My son went to go get x-rays so I had to remove his harness and leash, and when returning him to me he would not hand him over until he had his harness and leash properly on! He held him and was gently calming him throughout the process since my baby gets so excited when he sees his harness and leash. Thank you so much Michael for your act of kindness for my boy! Thank you Doctors, Receptionists, and all those working for the hospital. I truly appreciate it!

I rate them five stars for their service and availability for what I needed at the time. It was a very unfortunate circumstance where I had to euthanize my cat who was riddled with cancer. I was glad they were able to make time for me that day, and even gave me a little keepsake of her hair in a small heart shaped jar free of charge. It seems like going through this journey of healthcare and hospice for my cat, that nothing was free of charge so it meant a lot to me. They even waved my first visit fee. I would definitely suggest them.

There a lot of things that worry you when taking your kitten to another country. Even when using a…read morepet relocation service you just end up with a lot of questions. So let me explain. The service and warmth that every member of the staff delivered was above every vet I've been to. Front desk was kind and straight forward. Even with the complications of traveling with my cat overseas I wasn't overwhelmed by paperwork. I was seen as soon as possible even though I was there possibly an hour early. Nothing but smiles out of the first person I met that inspected my little girl. She explained everything that was going to happen and was genuine when she asked "is that OK?". Even when you, yourself go to the Dr there isn't much debate when it comes to shots. They simply tell you what to do and suddenly you're getting jabs of something in your arm. This was completely different. They wanted to know if I was OK with what was about to happen and let me know every step of the way what they were doing. Absolutely love this. When you're over protective of your animal this makes a big deal mentally. I didn't think anything strange was going to happen and knew, thanks to them telling me, exactly what my girl was about to go through. This means a lot. In the end my poor kitten did have some gum issues. Dr. Chloe told me this directly and then expanded on what I can do about it. That's something hard to tell a pet guardian. I think my mouth dropped. None the less I needed to know and she somehow delivered it to me without me freaking out. It's the balance of "this is what's going on" and then "this is how you handle it". Can't thank her enough. It's a 10 of 10 when it comes to veterinarian hospitals. They are simply the best. Also without spoiling anything, your wait in the lobby might just make you double take. The moment I felt slightly bored I just went WOW. It's surprise, I won't spoil it for you. It's just another detail that makes taking your little (or big) animal to the vet a much nicer experience. They really are the best.

I am unfortunately looking for a new vet after my recent experiences at VCA…read more Over my last two visits, I became increasingly concerned about the quality of care and the apparent lack of organization within the clinic. On multiple occasions, I received calls asking whether my dog was on flea and heartworm medication--even though those medications are prescribed and refilled directly through VCA. I was later told there had been confusion because the clinic was short-staffed and records had not been updated. As a pet owner, it was very concerning to hear that my dog's medical records were not being properly maintained. During my dog's first Lepto vaccine appt, the vet tech appeared very nervous and skipped basic assessment steps. She was unable to take his temperature and simply said, "Oh, you said he's been fine anyway," before moving on. That did not inspire confidence. Unfortunately, the second vaccine appt was not much better. When I requested to accompany my dog to the exam area, the same tech seemed irritated and stopped me from going back, saying she needed to find a room first. This was confusing, as I assumed a room would already be available if my dog was being taken back. The interaction felt rushed, dismissive and extremely uncomfortable. The appt itself lasted only a few moments. No wellness questions were asked, no discussion took place about how my dog had responded to the first vaccine, and the shot was administered immediately. The front desk experience was also frustrating. When I politely asked whether my dog's records had been updated, the staff seemed annoyed by the question. They also asked me to place my dog on the scale three separate times because no one was paying attention or recording his weight. I understand that veterinary clinics can be busy and short-staffed, and I truly try to be understanding. However, accurate medical records, basic communication, and thorough patient care are fundamental expectations. My dog means everything to me, and after these experiences, I no longer feel comfortable trusting his care to this clinic.

My mom was shot when the vet told her as soon as he came in the room with that she has glaucoma, she is in severe pain and needs to get her eyes taken out immediately. My mom instantly started crying as she received this message from him. We both had a hard time accepting this was for future because I couldn't bear to see my dog with her eyes taken and sewn shut!? knew it was gonna be best to put her out of her misery. Thank God, we got a second opinion and didn't make a euthanizing appointment then, I could imagine other people that don't have the money probably would've. The office made us an appointment for my dog to go into the eye surgery place and I told her just to see what they say. Sure enough the doctor there said she did not have glaucoma, she was not in pain, and she looks great. As relieving as that news was, there is so many other questions that raise regarding this veterinary. What kind of testing is being done and how is it completely inaccurate? Had my mom and I in tears and scared I was going to lose my dog. A truly disappointing "service". I hope the best for the people that go here and look into also getting a second opinion for their babies as well.

This was due to another veterinary practice where I had a number of his teeth extracted that had become abscessed. This vet practice did not prescribe antibiotics even though I asked for them, and three days later he almost died. However, the doctor at Sunset was amazing and went to work immediately with IV fluids and antibiotics and in a couple days my Schnauzer was almost back to his old self. Fast forward a couple years and we now have a female mini Schnauzer that just had puppies. We needed to have the tails cut and the dewclaws removed and so a call was place to Sunset and a message was left. There is a time frame that is the best for doing this and it is within 5 days of birth. The problem is that it took two days to hear back from Sunset and then it was to tell us that they do not have anyone at the practice who does this kind of simple procedure. I am very irritated that I am left with no options and only a few days left (two of these days being Saturday and Sunday) before the best window of opportunity to perform the procedure closes. 1. If a business does not provide an asked for service, they should call back immediately to say so and... 2. Any veterinary practice should have actually veterinarians working there in the practice, and if they do, any and every veterinarian should be capable of preforming this very simple procedure. And if they can't or won't, then they should be prepared to offer a referral to a practice that does. I am not saying this is a bad or terrible place to take you pets - I'm sure everyone who works there loves animals and they did a wonderful job of saving my little male mini Schnauzer's life - but it sure would be nice if they were a bit more full service and a bit more caring in situations where time is a factor. Unfortunately yesterday everything was going fine until he had a bowel movement, shortly after he started to whine, cry and show signs of severe uncomfortableness, lethargy, it was gut wrenching to see this tiny helpless thing I already love so much be so uncomfortable. I called the vet we are meant to see and they could not fit us in but recommended veterinary urgent care and Surgery in Cameron Park. I immediately just started driving there scared for my puppies well-being. While driving I called and they were able to get me an appointment right away, basically the time it took for me to drive there. They tested us from the car for parvo (thank god is was negative) so we were brought into a room. The vet tech was extremely nice, thorough, endearing, empathetic (as I was a blubbering mess worried about my tiny 4lbs puppy) she got her report ready and brought the dr in. He was even kind and empathetic to my worry and concern. We went over everything. From the day I got him to what possibilities it could be. They gave me options, information and we picked a treatment plan after an exam of my puppy. I was sent home with medications, directions and feeling so much relief that they cared for my dogs wellbeing and how I felt as an owner. Upon leaving and check out and the girls at the front came together to chat with us, and say goodbye. We talked a little about how cute he is his breed type and then reassured us to call if we need anything or have any questions. I will absolutely be a returning customer should an emergency come up again. Completely unrelated but when I went to grab my dog from the techs arms after they took him in back to give him a couple shots I could smell her subtle perfume(it smelt amazing) as we had to be shoulder to shoulder. I politely asked her what it was and she told me. Not vet related but something small / important to me. I've put off leaving this review because I didn't want to do it without being able to give the full story, but it's so painful to relive. I brought my senior dog in because he was vomiting repeatedly. No signs of pain, but the vomiting was very unusual. After testing, they told us he had pancreatitis, which is apparently very uncomfortable for dogs, but not deadly. They examined him and they gave him a shot of Panoquel (sorry if this is not spelled correctly) and when they brought him back from the medication they gave him, he seemed to be visibly in pain. He was whining and breathing weird. They said it was normal and a sign of the medication they gave him and that it would wear off in 6-8 hours. We brought him home and we were instructed to come back the following 2 days for 2 more injections of panoquel. He was completely out of it and seemed in pain, but we were made to believe it was from the medicine and that he would be okay after it wore off. 6 hours passes and he is still in pain, not even really conscious. Then 8 hours and by this time the urgent care center is closed. I called the nearest 24 hour emergency vet and was instructed to bring him in by a certain time if he was still not alert. He was not able to eat or drink or pee at all during this whole time and I knew something was wrong and that it was not just the medicine they gave him. We took him into the emergency vet where he was immediately admitted and ultimately where he spent his final day. He ended up passing there that night because the pain was far too much to get under control and despite their efforts, he was suffering. We said goodbye to him after him being completely fine and normal almost 1.5 days earlier. I was shocked and couldn't believe what had happened. I ended up sending an email to this Cameron Park Urgent Care and Surgery center because it was not sitting right with me that my dog spent his last day in pain in a hospital because of what I am calling a bad judgment call. Champ was 17 years old and had been seen here before. His records were on file for his heart condition and previous visits. He was old and his body had had enough which is why I am not holding them responsible for the fact that he is not here, but I do blame them for the fact that he died in pain in a hospital surrounded by strangers and hooked up to machines. His last day will haunt me forever. They responded to my email very kindly wanting to help me with my original request which was to refund the treatment because the treatment did not work. The assistant manager actually called me immediately to say how sorry she was and that they would definitely refund the amount I requested or a full refund, whatever I was comfortable with and so I did request a full refund at that point. No amount of money would bring my boy back, but an $1800 bill from this place on top of the ER bill was astronomical. They did refund me ~$620 for the treatment which I was and am still very grateful for. They didn't try to fight me, they agreed immediately. Where it gets weird is when the assistant offered the full refund, that must have just been her kindness speaking because the owner did not agree to it and neither did the dr, Dr. Natt. The owner flat out said he was not speaking to me because he "wasn't involved" and only was going to have the assistant deal with me. Dr. Natt was willing to speak with me, but requested that I return to the vet to speak with him so he could explain why they wouldn't agree to the refund, but there was no amount of money that was going to get me back inside that place that I had experienced that level of trauma. It wasn't worth it. I sent one final email to settle this without needing to leave this review, but they declined my request for a refund. I ended up disputing it with my bank and winning so I got my money back anyway. DO NOT COME HERE. Save yourself and your dog the pain. Go to a 24 hour vet! They sent us home and then closed for the evening and we were forced to go somewhere else anyway. Go somewhere else from the beginning!
