Rewind back 4 years, I adopted a seal point ragdoll kitten from the Purebred Cat Rescue in Davis and she came with some digestive issues, things coming out from both ends and excessive thirst. Luckily working in the pet business for many years, I had knowledge on what to do. I slowly started to switch her diet over to a grain free canned food, freeze dried raw and gave her raw goats milk and canned pumpkin for pets, this helped tremendously with her digestive issues and she hasn't had problems since. She still eats grain free canned cat food and I added frozen raw cat food since it's what cats eat naturally in the wild. She is doing well, including her visit on Saturday, the vet mentioned she gained a healthy amount of weight since her last appointment. My cat is on the small side for her usually large breed, tho quite fluffy, so this was great news! ..Moving on After seeing how well the company does with their clinics, I knew this was the place I wanted to take my kitty. When it came time to choosing a veterinarian to book an appointment, after reading about their doctors online, I chose Dr. Birdsall, she's been working here since 1979, so I knew she knew her stuff. My fur baby which I'm very attached to, I call her my first born, so her health is very important to me. She has been seeing her veterinarian since she was was a kitten and I couldn't be happier. From advice over the phone, health concerns, routine shots, she's always been gentle and honest and I uphold her for that. On Saturday my usually well-behaved cat was nervous and went into attack mode, when we took her to the vets, since I didn't take her last year for a check-up like I usually do on her birthday, my fault. So we had to get her shots that weren't due for some months, early. What I like about Dr. birdsall is that she talks very calmly and scruffs her which is the best way to gently calm a cat like a mother would to carry their young to a safe place or to discipline them. I use this same technique to trim my ragdoll's nails every couple weeks, bathe her or to apply her brushless toothpaste once a day, since her breed is prone to Gingivitis. If this method doesn't work I'll go behind her and hold her body firm, but gently down or I'll do the purrito "aka" swaddle her in a blanket or towel like a burrito so she feels secure and often cover her eyes so she isn't afraid. Every cat is different, it takes a lot of trial and error, demonstration videos on YouTube helped me, but the main thing is to not hurt your cat and to keep them calm and make then feel secure. I would definitely recommend booking an appointment for your fur baby, they'll take the best care of your pet, making sure they are calm and comfortable and even do a follow-up call after shots, to make sure your pet hasn't had any side effects! I wouldn't take her anywhere else!

Hazelridge is the best vet we have been to. They are very professional and caring. We especially like Dr Dial. She is the best we have had in 20 years. My dog had lots of problems and she took care of all of them

When my 12 yo pittie cried when scratching her ear, I knew she needed medical care. VCA, despite having treated her since she was a puppy, told me the soonest I could get her in was in 3 weeks. That was the end for me. I contacted Old Towne and got an appointment within 10 days with the promise that if something came up sooner, they'd call me. And they did! She was seen the next week, put on antibiotics and ear drops, and was back to her old self. Fast forward a year... my dogs have been cared for with compassion by Dr. Caballero and Dr. Ava. From teeth cleaning to arthritis pain management to the tragic diagnosis of colorectal cancer leading to euthanasia to the new puppy exam, I have developed a great respect and appreciation for all of the staff we've encountered over the last 2 years. Dr. Ava and Lily were wonderful when it came time to say goodbye to our Oliver, giving us time and space with him, allowing us to bring in our other dog so she could be there too, snipping off some of his fur to put in a little sachet bag, bringing treats for him and Kleenex for us. I love that there is a candle on the front desk informing patrons that someone is saying goodbye to a loved one and asking for quiet in the waiting room. Old Towne Animal Hospital is a Fair Oaks gem and I am so very grateful for the staff there!

I don't usually leave reviews like this, but future customers deserve honesty…read more My experience with this veterinary office was extremely disappointing from start to finish. Concerns I raised about my pet's care were not met with urgency, accountability, or meaningful communication. Instead of addressing issues directly, the response felt dismissive and focused more on conflict than resolution. I also had to repeatedly request basic information and records that should have been provided without delay. Even a simple request took hours to be acknowledged, which is unacceptable when you're dealing with a living animal and trying to make responsible medical decisions. What stood out most was the lack of professionalism when concerns were raised. Instead of working toward restoring trust or clarifying what happened, the relationship was essentially discarded. That is not what clients expect when they are trusting a clinic with their pet's health and wellbeing. Every pet owner should be able to expect transparency, communication, and care that feels collaborative. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I'm sharing this so other pet owners are fully aware and can make informed decisions about where they choose to take their animals for care. PLEASE DRIVE PAST THIS OFFICE I DON'T CARE HOW LONG THEY BEEN IN THE AREA!!!! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR PET AT ALL , all THEY CARE ABOUT IS YOUR MONEY AND WAYS THEY CAN CHARGE YOU!! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR PET !!!! And please I'm not even giving it a one star I had to give it a star just to leave this review but they get zero stars theres NOT A star in that office FROM VDMS TO ASSOCIATES !!!

We have always felt grateful for the staff and the extra mile by all of the doctors we've seen over the years. When our baby girl had to have ankle surgery and needed weekly bandage changes for about two months, she grew a fan club there so that all the techs (including ones I had never met) would come to greet her by name and get excited to see her and wrote cute little love notes on her bandages. Several years later she still has techs that get excited to come see her and say hi when she's on the schedule and it makes me so happy to know she is loved when she is there. The reason I am now writing a review is because they worked so hard to get my girl healthy again when I thought I was about to lose her forever with a new diabetes diagnosis and how seriously sick she got. They went out of their way to try and find the most reasonable priced hospital for us and when that wasn't possible, came up with a "hail mary" plan that got her the treatment she needed in a range we could afford. Again, I knew she was being loved on and in the best hands each day that I was scared having to leave her behind and so worried about when or if her condition was going to improve. Because of them, my princess is feeling much better and almost back to her spunky sassy self again and I will forever be grateful to them. Especially Dr. Herman, Dr. Julian, Regina, Courtney, and all the others up front and behind the scenes whose names I don't know but who I know care about my babies and work hard to keep them healthy.

I called Crossroads and they had me bring him in right away, saving me an emergency visit to MarQueen. Dr Sidhu saw right away what the problem was and attempted to extract a large acorn shell imbedded over his tooth in the back of his mouth. It ultimately required that he be put under anesthesia which was risky due to his age. He has not been able to have any dental work for this very reason for the last few years. I knew when I left him there, that he may not be coming home. Dr Sidhu performed the "operation", extracted the shell, along with 9 infected teeth, gave him a full cleaning of the remaining teeth and he is good as new. He was sent home with some meds and getting lots of rest. I know Dr Sidhu had a busy schedule today with several other dentals and I am forever grateful for the time he took to not only squeeze Buster in, but to perform all that was necessary and safely put him under anesthesia. The cost for all of this was beyond reasonable. I couldn't believe it. I'm so happy to have Crossroads with Dr Sidhu and Dr Sullivan and their fantastic staff.

While I've only had two experiences with them so far, I have been impressed none the less. When you come to GRPH you get seen fairly quickly, and one thing I like is that they actually take time to check various things that VCM apparently can't be bothered to check. For example, breathing and heart rate. GRPH is more communicative about what they discover and what they propose. Also, they are quite honest when discussing dental issues and where you might need to go for more advanced dental analysis and care. The ONLY thing I don't like is that their exam rooms smell like old dirty mop water. I don't know if it's just the old building, or because they don't want to use any kind of bleach or sanitizer on the floors for animal safety. I just find that odor quite nauseating so I wish they could figure out how to get that one thing under control. If not for that, I would give 5 stars based on my recent visits.

The entire team at Fair Oaks cares deeply about all animals and their owners. The vets are knowledgeable and patient and take time to explain things and help owners work through difficult decisions. They have supported end of life care and release for two of my pets. Dr. Lennon worked with me to help me make the best choice for my 18 year old cat when I wasn't sure if I was doing the right thing for her. My primary vets are Lennon, Kian, Linnet, and Woodson. All fantastic. Claudia at the front desk is a gem. Emily the vet tech is amazing. They all are. This is one of the most compassionate teams I've ever encountered. I am a terrible patient mom, when my pets are sick I become anxious aaaand often short and frustrated. I try not to, but it happens and the team still supports me and helps me get through it. In terms of pricing, I have found it to be very reasonable. They recently modified their dental and care plan options to make treatment more affordable and manageable. Estimates are always provided prior to treatment so you know what to plan for. Discounted pricing for cash payments, and they are speedy when providing information to insurance companies. When I can afford it I absolutely buy the team coffee for vet tech day (the WHOLE team) because they deserve it. I often hear people complain about the cost of vet care. I don't think folks understand the base costs of operating an animal hospital, from paying employees a livable wage (do you want the people caring for your animals having a chip on their shoulder because they can't afford rent?), insurance for the business, equipment and materials for lab, X-Ray, surgery, etc. etc., the cost of leasing the property and more than I'll list. It's incredibly expensive. Mercy Pet Hospital does its absolute best to keep costs down. I don't trust anyone else with my fur babies. If you have had a different experience with Mercy Pet Hospital Fair Oaks, I would give them a second chance.

I MENTIONED THIS CLEARLY TO EVERYONE I SPOKE TO. - Initial nurse was a total sweetheart, young and full of spirit - Doctor walked in jittery and sped up like she was trying to calm down from running - Speaking to me that way was super uncomfortable & condescending. When Doctor Susana Marshall DVM asked me about all the ways i was taking preventative measures for my pup, I knew that she had not reviewed any of the information that was gathered by her nurse receptionist on top of the eight years worth of health certifications and documents i brought in correct order since 2015. Up sold for 90% of my 15 minute visit on future vaccinations, future rehabilitation centers and given information I didn't ask about. My dog has been on heartworm preventative for eight years somehow I was charged $100 for a heartworm test that came back negative. After realizing i was charged $410 in the midst of everything happening so quickly I realized later, I left without the flea and tick medication. The only thing I came for. I called that day. No one answered. I called the next three days playing phone tag with this foul mouthed & disgusting attitude filled person named Joan. I told her I prefer to speak directly to the doctor not to waste time however Joan was confident she could help me. She couldn't infact help me & showed more interest in provoking a polite turbulence over the phone. Her energy is passive aggressive & instigative. She hung up on me without saying goodbye on our last chat which says a lot about a person's character, let alone a receptionist. I was calling to see if my second puppy was in danger from being around my first, since I wasn't told to keep them separated. But that one was infected? Overall, it was very cute to see his name on the welcome sign coming into the vet, but I would not recommend anyone supporting what's going on at this clinic. As I said on my last phone call with Joan, if I didn't hear from the doctor by the end of day, I would be opening a claim with my bank and that is exactly what I have done. They have 45 days to respond and I'm sure they will Not because they did the wrong thing and want to rectify - but because they want to avoid a negative chargeback score people! Businesses look really bad when they have chargebacks to banks so they will try to negotiate with you (the client) as if they didn't do anything wrong. They stand on very little morality and no humanitarian grounds. I will be filing for a full reimbursement. Ps. The eight years worth of medical records are completely out of order. Torn folder is destroyed and the receipts are Unstapled. It's going to take me a handful of hours to put everything back together.
