We drove over and the place looks like a 60's dinner inside. You order at the cash and the burger and poutine are made in front of you. We took our food to the table and dug in. The poutine looked like your standard cheese, gravy and fries and tasted great. The burger looked really plain and I had low expectations. I didn't bother taking a picture of it because I didn't think it would be very good. I was wrong. The burger had so much flavor! We wanted to get another one on the way home from Montreal but they close at 9pm. We would definitely recommend this diner. It was busy at 1:30pm so maybe that should have been a good indication of the food.

Le Bistrot Montebello is a beautiful and relaxing place to enjoy delicious food. I have friends…read morewho are from the area who brought me there for lunch. Located on the main highway going through Montebello, QC, a picturesque town on the Ottawa River. Inside is just as picturesque with both Old World and modern touches. Their menu has an intriguing mix of European, American (burgers), French, Italian, and Middle Eastern fare along with some mouth-watering desserts. I had the Cajun shrimp which was unlike any Cajun food I've had in the USA, but delicious. The sauce was creamy and had just a touch of spice. For a drink I ordered the strawberry lemonade which was refreshing. Then fir dessert, the apple crumble a-la-mode which was amazing. There was a bit of a wait to get a table at 2 PM. Although there were still some empty tables customers had to wait uo to half an hour. I suppose that may have been due to a staffing shortage. Our servers were friendly, but the wait for food also took longer than expected. This is not a place for a quick lunch, but more of a place for those who are not in a hurry and don't mind waiting for a quality meal. I didn't mind the wait because I was enjoying the company of my friends and were not pressed for time. Our servers were bilingual (French and English), and the menus were also available in both languages. Taking the wait times into consideration I still highly recommended Le Bistrot Montebello.

Three of us got Brie casserole and onion soup as appetizers and Duck leg confit and Bison steak. The taste was a pure blessing. Our absolute fav was Brie casserole. The staff were incredibly nice too- if you're a visible miniority you'd know that you sometimes experience a passive racism, but I truly felt welcomed and taken care of by the staff. Restaurant was quiet and beautiful too. Additionally I've personally always found French food's portion small in Toronto and Paris, but this place surprised me!!! Each meal came with good portion of salad and fries and the price was really reasonable, trust me. I feel like I'm writing so much to make it feel like its a paid review but we paid with our own credit cards.

Imagine you're making home fries at home and there's those rounded end pieces of potato that aren't quite the A grade cut potato for a french fry. It doesn't quite fry up right and we unconsciously push that rejected fry to the edge and eat around it. Now imagine almost all the fries are from that reject pile. Quite unappetizing. The poutine was assembled in a peculiar fashion of B-Grade-Reject fries, drizzle of poutine sauce and chopped up curds piled on top. When assembled this way, your poutine of disappointment does not melt the cheese curd. Great steamy hotdog though. I think I'll make spaghetti next week and enjoy carbs without disappointment.
