I visited Blue Bonnet Bakery with plans to try their sandwiches, sample a few baked goods, and soak in the ambiance, especially since the place is housed in a repurposed church. I love how they've preserved the church vibe. The entrance still has that "churchy" feel, the booths are made from pews, and you can even sit on the stage next to the beautiful stained glass windows. It's a very cool atmosphere. The crowd seemed to mostly be locals, which is always a good sign in my book--if the locals are there, it must be a solid spot. While many were picking up baked goods, there were plenty of people enjoying lunch as well. Since "bakery" is in their name, my expectations were high, and I wasn't disappointed. They offer a wide variety of cookies, and their cakes and pies looked absolutely tempting. We tried a good mix of cookies (more than half a dozen!) and each one tasted homemade and delicious. As for the food, it was good but not extraordinary. My husband and I both went for the half-sandwich combo. I had the chicken salad on homemade white bread with a side of vegetable soup, while he had the turkey club on homemade seven-grain bread, paired with house-made chips. It was all tasty, but nothing to write home about. I wish they offered lattes instead of just filter coffee, but that's just me loving lattes. The service, however, was fantastic. The staff was friendly, attentive, and very patient as I took my time selecting cookies. They really added to the welcoming vibe of the place. The lettering on the cake was horrible. And I tried to reach out to the owner by email and no response. It was for an event at the hospital where I work and I didn't have any choice but to take it. So embarrassing! And the person working at the counter was very unprofessional. So sad for a family own business business. I will not go back. There's other better bakeries. At first glance you look and go, am I in the right place? This bakery is in an old church, very comfortable vibe, friendly staff all smiles, ready to help. All of the food was fresh and made fresh daily, no frozen or premade treats here. I was on a day trip with my lady and her daughter. This place is permanently lock in my GPS. We'll be back for sure. I was so excited to try Blue Bonnet Bakery for the first time--I got the Egg Salad Sandwich with croissant bread and a side of potato salad. However, I was severely let down. The Egg Salad Sandwich and the potato salad were extremely bland. The most flavorful thing on the sandwich was the cucumber (which is saying a lot since cucumber is not a flavorful food). The potato salad was beyond bland but had a nice crunch to it. The only thing I enjoyed from my meal was the included pickle spear because it had flavor. Will not be returning. read more

I have been to Blue Bonnet Bakery several times now and ordered cakes from them several times. The place is nice and clean. There are couple tables to seat and eat at the bakery/restaurant. The service is friendly. As to why the poor review, I have placed very simply order cake with just "Happy Birthday" and person name on it and they can not fill the order on time. And like today, they did not ever start it until I get to the bakery. I hate to see what kind of disaster I would run into if I ordered a fancy design cake. Nice place inside an old church - so cool to see the building put to use and Not turning down just because it's no longer serving as a church I noticed they have lunch they serve it daily they also have lots of baked items and donuts. The prices were very reasonable we got a chocolate cupcake and a large petite 4 . Both were delicious and didn't even cost five dollars! Blue Bonnet occupies a century-old church (including pews for the seating and a stunning stained glass window!). There is plenty of parking. It is at its heart a bakery, with gorgeous (and delicious) cakes, cookies, pies, and more. But they also have a fantastic lunch menu with lots of sandwiches, a soup of the day, salads, and a kids menu. Their chicken salad is the best I've ever had. My favorite part of their lunch is the homemade chips - I have a weakness for those. You can tell the food is made from scratch. It is. So. Good. I've also had a few of their cookies and they are very good. There are SO many options. Everyone that works there is super friendly. They also have a gender-neutral restroom. Gave them a custom order earlier this week to be picked up today at noon when they said it would be ready, gave a specific photo to them then with notes written on it and went over the info with the girl that took the order, within the order timeframe they required, for a bright pink cake with some simple outline details in white. Picked it up today and it is ORANGE with off-white orangy piping and the details are wrong. The manager could not have cared less and said the decorator is gone for the day and nothing they can do about it. Told them then this is for a big event today at 5 PM. Beware!!! I went into Bluebonnet Bakery to place an order for a gender reveal cake. I specifically had the employee write down the inside color icing for the gender of baby. I ordered the cake will In advance of the special event. This event included a professional photographer, and so much more. At the event when mom and dad cut into the cake, there was NO COLORED icing in the middle to reveal the gender of the baby. I called the store the next day. The employee of Bluebonnet Bakery took a message for the owner to call. Two days later the owner of Bluebonnet Bakery never called. I called again. The owner did refund the cost of the cake. But he had ZERO remorse that the event was ruined because of his bakery not following through with specific handwritten instructions for the order. You can never get that moment back! And the now owner did not have an ounce of empathy or a solution to make it up to the parents! Scheduled a cake testing for my daughter's wedding. Had 6 cupcakes basically tossed in the table and was told to let them know when we were ready. No one sat with us or talked with us. An hour later we're still waiting for someone to give us a consultation. Handed them the $20 for tasting their dried cupcakes and walked out. Extremely disappointed with the custom frosted cookies ordered for my daughters baptism. I talked with a very sweet lady and she wrote down exactly what I wanted which was to have the cookie say "God Bless -insert daughter's name-". I even sent the lady a photo of exactly how they were to look. When I picked up all they said were "God Bless". It's not the end of the world, but the baptism was that day and we did not have time to have them corrected. It was supposed to be special because my daughter is named after my mother who passed away 7 months ago. The owner, Mike, and manager, Christina, undoubtedly have the WORST customer service skills I have ever encountered. Upon inquiring about a wedding cake order, I was surprised to hear they had availability on short notice... now I understand why they had so much availability for the weekend. What should have been an exciting and fun experience was absolutely ruined. We were met with hostility, negativity, incompetence, and disorganization from the start. To top it all off, when we called to ask questions about the order 3 days before pickup we were told that whoever took the order had not left enough details for the baker to make the cake and we had to come back in person. The owner then refused to discuss the negative experience and had the same person we had the bad experience with call us back to deal with said experience. I am astounded that a business with such poor management and incompetence has survived this long. read more

We ordered turkey clubs from the lunch menu. The menu says turkey clubs come in a croissant, so I asked if I could switch for wheat toast. My friend however ordered as it is and he was actually charged extra for the croissant even though the menu says the sandwich comes in a croissant. The attendant asked us what we wanted as our sides, we got fruit. She failed to let us know sides aren't included, they are charged. Which is fine, we paid, but the way she asked she made it sound as they were included. They also don't have milk substitutes (almond, coconut, soy, etc). The food was bland, very basic. Came in today for (let's be real) petit fours! And it was lunch time, so I got a sandwich and soup too. The pimiento cheese on rye-toasted was very good. I would have wished it would have been more like a grilled cheese all gooey and melted. But it wasn't, just a good old sandwich. I was also disappointed they only had potato soup today. For years I've used this bakery and so did my Mother , but it was Harper's bakery . I ordered a Lemon Meringue pie for a Christmas party and wow was that a mistake . When I went there to pick up , they could not find my order and this has happened before . Said I needed a reference code , which I was Never given ! They said I should have one ... wrote my name down incorrectly and she gave me an attitude ! Finally found the pie . After we sliced it ... the filling was pale, runny , and fell apart when sliced ! I'm so disappointed in the quality of the cake I took the time to meet with the wedding planner. The cake was terrible looking and I was so embarrassed to take it to the baby shower. I had to find a cake decorator to try and fix it. I paid an exorbitant amount for a layer cake that fed 40 but was decorated so unprofessionally.
