It's huge but so refreshing on a hot day (which this was!) There are shade-covered outdoor tables to eat (but note: signs say this is not a pet friendly locale). I ended up mostly finishing the ice cream and putting the rest in a cup to finish later. A super tasty fall treat, though fresh apple cider donuts (which aren't available here) will forever be a fall favorite for me. I didn't see an option for u-pick here, but the market is decent with Apple varietals, cider, and some jams. Worth a visit for the sweet treats alone!

It's not like the big family destination spot orchards - so check your Eckert Family Farm expectations at the door as you drive down the blacktop highway. There is a small food kitchen connected to it that was cooking and selling food, but I didn't try it. This is one place you can sometimes get Mutsu apples -- the BEST apples for baking! And they're so delicious! During my latest visit I got apple butter, fresh apples, cider, peaches, and an apple pastry to go. They had pies and donuts, but they were already sold out - good sign, right!?! It was a nice stop as we drove through the southern Illinois area. I feel fortunate when we can time it right, driving through, and get some good ol' southern Illinois orchard goodies! YUM!
