Patty is awesome - very personable. She helped me get a photo framed and ready for the arts festival. I'd recommend her any day.

My daughter started here 7 years ago with nothing but curiosity and a box of crayons. Today she's…read moreconfident with composition, color theory, shading, and multiple mediums I can't even pronounce. That's all thanks to Drawn2Art. What makes the studio special is the teachers. They are patient with fundamentals but never kill the joy of creating. They know when to push for cleaner work, when to let a student experiment, and how to give critique that makes kids want to improve. Over the years they tailored projects to my daughter's interests, introduced new techniques at just the right time, and celebrated progress in a way that built real confidence. The studio feels like a second home to my daughter! After 7 years, my daughter doesn't just do art -- she thinks like an artist. We're so grateful. She loves it enough that she now helps out in the studio sometimes, which says it all. Thank you to Drawn2Art and the great teachers for making every class so fun and enjoyable.

What started as a passing interest has turned into a passion. She's developed a real love for art and even won first place in her school art competition this year. The Drawn2Art studio is quiet and focused. The step-by-step instruction really works for her and gives her confidence. They work with all kinds of mediums, which keeps it interesting. The program is super systematic, but never feels rigid. It's the perfect mix of fun, instruction, and challenge. The teachers meet each kid where they're at. They're friendly, kind, and super engaging. Our daughter feels known and supported, but also pushed in the best way. She always leaves class feeling proud and excited for what's next. They take little break pictures between modules, which she looks forward to. Emmett and the entire team are so flexible. That's made it possible to stick with it all these years. Drawn2Art Redmon lit up our daughter's creativity and helped turn it into something that'll last! We cannot recommend it highly enough.

Open Arts Studio - My son's birthday party here. He had the instructor teach everyone how to paint R2D2. Most kids are 5-6 years old only!

There was an instructional portion for the ceramics and then the kids were allowed to make their own items. She made a bowl and a cat. The family was also able to bring pizza and cupcakes in. She had such a great time that we have been checking out other classes that are held here. Very neat spot.

John, the director of Open Arts Studio, is a dynamic guy who is so charismatic...it's easy to envision him sitting at a piano, leading a bunch of people in song around a piano a la Cole Porter. He's the voice teacher and drawing teacher and he's great at both. Home schoolers note: they offer classes during the day for home school students! For me, one caveat is the price. It's not astronomical, but most classes are about $125 for a session, about 5 classes, and it adds up. I believe it's because of this that some classes aren't very full. On the up side, if you take more than one class, or have multiple children enrolled, you get a 10% discount. They hope to add cooking classes somewhere down the line. We are looking forward to the addition as I know my daughter would learn a lot because they are both organized and inspiring at Open Arts!

Our family has been involved with Tessera for six years now, and during that time it has been a…read morecornerstone for our life in so many ways. We tried five different preschools before discovering the magic of this place. I'll always be grateful for the memories and foundation Tessera has given our children and for the connections we've made with other families through this preschool. When you enter Tessera, you might just see a typical preschool--DON'T BE FOOLED! ;-) Tessera is anything but typical! If you look more carefully, you'll notice the culture of the school is present in every nook and cranny of the place. The owner, Linda, provides an enriching environment with specially curated art projects, decor, sensory materials, books, costumes, puzzles, and toys that usually follow a theme. The kids have freedom to explore. She allows ample activity time during the day as well, so more active children can run around, climb, and play more physical games to their liking. I am in love with the process-oriented focus of the art projects she makes available to the kids. You won't find the kids producing uniform preschool art. The art that comes out of this place is meant to strengthen and develop a child's confidence and enjoyment in the process of creation. What does that look like? It completely varies according to the child! The enrichment programs Linda offers have varied over the years including music, dance, sewing, ceramics, ASL, and nature programs. They are run by visitors who are professionals in their fields. My kids have enjoyed all of them immensely. Linda's background is in early childhood development and education, but she's also a parent, so she understands the realities of family life and has a great perspective. She is flexible to the needs of a family. I believe her greatest strengths are her intuitive ability to tune in with the kids, her kind and gentleness in her interactions with them, and her belief in their natural abilities. She is not an adult who gets in the way of a child. She is, however, a great coach to the kids when conflict arises. I knew Tessera was the right place for us when I saw how she addressed conflict. She does not punish (no time-outs, no withdrawal of privileges, no unkind voices or words), but rather has the kids talk to each other. She usually focuses on the child who is upset or hurt, asking them to tell the other child how they feel or helping them stand up for her/himself. She never forces "sorry" out of the other child, but instead focuses on cultivating their empathy. When that fails, because at a certain age and for certain kids it is unrealistic to expect certain behavior, she is particularly adept in anticipating situations before they arise. I could go on and on about how enriching Tessera has been for our lives. I look forward to many more years of my kids' involvement with Tessera. (I'm so happy she offers programs serving kids up to age 10!)

I've learned a lot from about patience and communication with kids from the owner and head teacher, Linda. She is one of the most level headed, calm people I have ever met.
