The setting of this restaurant is picturesque right on the lake, especially if you can snag a seat outside or get a window seat. It is definitely the most upscale restaurant in glen arbor and the prices reflect that. The service was really good and friendly. The portion sizes were pretty small and I found the food to be underwhelming. We got the pesto gnocchi to start and the whitefish was really delicious but the rest of the dish was a little flavorless. We also got the tater tots which was basically like fried mashed potatoes with this lemon aioli, it was again just average. For an entree, we shared the Waygu strip loin between 2 people- it was very fatty and chewy but charred well with a crispy finish. The mini baked potatoes, veggies, mushrooms and sauce were very tasty but the quality of the meat didn't match the price in my opinion. Overall, I liked this restaurant, I just didn't think the value was there for the price point.

Unfortunately, we did not have the pleasure of dining in so we had to get take out. The food was still delicious though. We got the crab puffs, rack of lamb, and bouchon. They used to have veal, they should have kept it on there. I liked the crab puffs, very flavorful but for $24 the quantity is lacking. Rack of lamb was cooked beautifully medium rare, a lot of flavor and tender. Bouchon was very good, not sweet and light.

OMG the Waygu was the best thing ever. And look at that sunset. Divine.

If you're thinking about going here, GO!!!!!! This was the best meal my husband and I have EVER had. We sat outside right as the sun started setting and it was absolute stunning. Our waitress was Laurie and she was the sweetest and totally added to the experience. The food was so divine. It's pricey, like the most we've paid for dinner ever, but it was so worth it. Our suggestions would be to get the Blu Board (trust us it's more than just cheese), the Waygu, and the crème brûlée with some coffee. You will die.

Excellent service and amazing food! First time here and forgot to take pictures until we dug in but there was not one bad item! Good portion sizes, did not leave overstuffed but also did not leave hungry!

Duck confit

Blu was absolutely fantastic. Wonderful food and service and stunning view of Glen Lake. Their signature dish the duck confit was delicious.

This restaurant was shockingly amazing - very upscale and pricey - but worth it - it has a gorgeous location on the water - the sunset views will disappoint. We started with a few sharable plates - the risotto, gnocchi and hand rolled tater tots - chefs kiss - each dish was fresh and flavorful. I went for the rack of lamb and I'm so glad I did - best lamb I've had EVER in a restaurant. Simply divine. The desserts and drinks were also fantastic and we ate every last morsel m. This was a truly epic evening. Of corse a nod to our excellent server and bartender - who worked extra hard to make the night perfect Sorry I didn't get more photos - Yelp needs to add videos!

This is by far one of the best meals I've ever had. If you're vacationing in northern Michigan, book a reservation early and don't miss a meal at Blu. My husband and I called a few times and were able to put our name on a list for cancellations. Thankfully, we got a call back that a 5pm reservation at cancelled and we scooped it up. We were staying nearby at the Homestead, celebrating our ten year wedding anniversary. Due to covid only the patio was open (2020), which was fine because we preferred to sit outside with a view of Lake Michigan. Upon being seated we spied one of our favorite wineries on the wine list - Frank Family- and ordered a bottle of their Chardonnay. We started with the semi-famous crab puffs and they were perfection. Lightly fried with a soft crunch, accompanied by a delicate and sweet chili sauce. For dinner, we ordered the signature duck confit and a pecan crusted halibut with lemon beurre blanc sauce. While the duck was absolutely outstanding, definitely the best duck I've ever had, we fought over the last bite of the fish. It was the perfect summer dish. The service was impeccable, we couldn't have asked for a better meal. Top it off with a view of Lake Michigan and you won't find a better restaurant in the area. Make a reservation early. This place is tiny, and has limited reservations available.

Short bread cookies and salted Carmel gelato - A dessert featuring ice cream, whipped cream, and cookies presented in a white bowl, likely at a fine lakeside dining restaurant.

Came to this lake front fine dining resturant on Thanksgiving. Blu did not disappoint. Elevated cuisine with classy picturesque aesthetics. We ordered the butter nut squash soup, lobster risotto along with a arugula salad with pine nuts apples and champagne vinneigrete. They timed the plates strategically so we enjoyed each before indulging in their special Thanksgiving meal with turkey, truffle gravy with all the proper sides. Ended the memorable culinary evening with short bread cookies and salted caramel gelato. Scrumptious, indeed! Recommend if you got the payroll and are looking for classy date night.

Inside - A dining area with white tablecloths, glassware, and cutlery is visible inside a lakeside restaurant. Large windows reveal outdoor seating with umbrellas and trees.

Leelanau county is home to a plethora of wonderful restaurants with beautiful settings, expert…read moreservice, and outstanding locally sourced food. The Manor is not one of those restaurants. I had dinner at there last night and the experience my family and I had was nothing short of a train wreck. For a restaurant trying to showcase its strengths (it was restaurant weekend) this was a mind boggling experience from beginning to end. First - the service. We were seated. And we waited. After about 20 minutes, and the whole of our table chomping on the ice in our water glasses, our drink order began. The server had no idea if a 'beer list' existed, but assured one of the guests that there were 'a lot of new beers' after a common Michigan IPA was ordered. The rest of the drink order was placed, and we waited. And waited. After about 15 more minutes the 'special' beer that was requested came out. Alone. 5 minutes later, drink #2. After 5 more minutes, drink #3. It is possible that a) the restaurant did not allow trays or b) the server had an injury that prevented them from carrying two things at once - but you get the picture. Service for the rest of the dinner was as expected after waiting an hour to get a table of drinks. Next - the food. I don't next to expand my thoughts on this. I would have rather ate cold pizza from a frat house floor with a side of day old ranch for dipping sauce. Nothing at our table was edible. The pork was dry with rehydrated chutney on top, the duck was effectively shredded cardboard compact into the shape of a duck. And the Parmesan whitefish? Was it even whitefish? I can't think about it anymore. Lobster bisque? You mean lobster bisquick! It was the consistency of pancake batter, lacking that familiar pink hue that has accompanied the dozens of other lobster bisques I've enjoyed. Maybe they mixed it up with seafood chowder? I don't know. The wedge salad. Pretty simple, pretty safe. A solid 'go-to' right? Not at El Manor. The bleu cheese dressing may have been ranch... It was hard to tell - but you know what wasn't hard to tell? That the army of bacon bits at the top were undoubtedly Bac O's ... That all too familiar, spice canister dispensed collection of dehydrated bacon (or maybe fake bacon). I didn't know they even made Bac O's anymore! My dish came with broccoli. 'Is it steamed?' I asked? 'Boiled.' the server said. Boiled? I'm no Julia child's but I've never heard of that particular method of preparation used for broccoli. I got that particular dish (the duck with broccoli) and when it arrived I immediately reached for the salt and pepper, but there were none to be found. No salt and pepper on the table! I was stuck with my corrugated duck and tasteless florets. Sad face. I noticed a previous poster described their desert as 'vanilla pudding with caramelized sugar' - that's a pretty clever and accurate description. Definitively NOT creme brûlée. Even the rolls appeared to have crawled right out of the freezer. Eventually the evening came to an end. Thank god, because this experience was excruciating from beginning to end. It's a good thing my kids had a leftover peanut butter and jelly sandwich waiting in the car.

This restaurant is definitely on the smaller side but it has such the cutest charm! I ordered the Salmon Piccata with a side of Caesar salad, and pasta with oil, garlic, and butter. The Salmon Piccata was perfectly cooked; however, I wish it had a tad more seasoning (maybe a tad more salt or simply lemon juice) since I truly had to rely on the capers for any acidity. The Caesar salad has to be one of the best I've ever had--it honestly had the punch of lemony boquerones. If you truly love anchovies, I highly recommend ordering it with some extra anchovies! Lastly, the pasta was just as expected, but it was still delicious! Pro tip if you order the salmon piccata: dip the pasta in the lemon and white wine sauce--you'll thank me later!

You are charged for sharing but they offer side and salad with the extra charge. Not unreasonable in my opinion. The bread brought out was delicious. Felt the marinara was a little salty for the eggplant But certainly not inedible. A nearby table had ordered mussels and the smell did carry over to us so a sensitivity to that could be an issue . Dessert The Tiramisu was fabulous. I actually liked the texture as you could taste every component. Usually soggy lady fingers which can taste great but here they kept their structure I felt making it stand out . Wonderful flavors. Parking is one way and could be icy in the lot. Well lit though. Fantastic sandwich and pizza option if you're headed to or from Sleeping Bear Dunes!…read more We came across Shipwreck Cafe after stopping for gas next door on the way to Sleeping Bear Dunes. We wanted a kid friendly option and came in for the pizza, but ended up being blown away by the massive sandwich menu! Don't be discouraged by the line - it moves FAST!!!! The young people at the register and in the kitchen are efficient and so nice!!! We arrived about half an hour before the sign says pizzas are ready, and the lovely man at the register said "sure!" when we asked if we could order a pizza. The menu has something for everyone - Including plenty of vegetarian options (I think they even had a vegan option). I loved my Griffon, and the meat eaters in our group enjoyed the SS Noronic (a BLT) and the Fitzgerald. Our kids devoured their cheese pizza! They also carry Great Lakes Co Chips, which are some of the best potato chips we've ever had. Our sandwiches were all so inventive with delicious, fresh ingredients, amazing condiments, and the most freshly baked "pretzel rolls" ever. If this place wasn't a vacation stop for us, we'd be back all the time! Our kiddos favorite part, bedsides the pizza, were the tiny plastic swords that came in our sandwiches holding them together. When they each wanted one more sword, we went back inside and the staff inside was so used to kids asking for more tiny swords that their response to "May we have two more swords?" Was "Sure! What colors?!" Very different from what the response would have been where we're from. :) We even came back later in the day for the frozen custard!!! All in all, it was a great experience with great food, great service, plenty of outdoor picnic tables under umbrellas, and something for everyone to eat.
