On at least 3 occasions, the service department either failed to order parts, or misplaced parts, or had to keep my car longer than expected because a tech wasn't available to work on it. This morning, my previously scheduled appointment wasn't entered on their schedule so they couldn't take my car. I will now drive to Peoria or Champaign - 80 miles round trip - so that I don't have to experience Grossinger "service." Employees are sincerely apologetic and well-meaning, however, their organization is lacking and they are not good at handoffs between areas. It's a shame this is my last impression of their dealership because I'm actually in the market for a new car. read more

To start, I want to say that each of the individual employees here is kind and trying to be helpful. Grossinger Motors main issue is organization. They really struggle to complete simple tasks in an effective manner. One of the issues is that they seem to have a lot of employees but not a lot of oversight or guidance. Here is the context for my observation: Today, I took my car to get a tire replaced. The mechanic who worked on the tire was friendly and great- very kind. However, the process of getting my car to that mechanic was such an unnecessary headache. We first called on Saturday and were told to bring the car in to have the tire replaced. When my partner came in, he waited an hour before they came to get him to tell him they didn't have the tire in stock. Additionally, they told us the tire would be under warranty. Okay, fine- so my partner asked to order the tire. They called us on Tuesday to say they would have the tire by Wednesday therefore we made an appointment for Thursday morning. Then, they let us know that the tire would not be covered by warranty because it was a nail in the tire. Again, okay fine, I understand. Thursday morning, I bring in the car and then they say that the tire could be under warranty and that they would have to check again. Additionally, I they tell me they do not know if they have the tire, but they send me back to the waiting room. Then a different man from the front desk and mechanic came into the waiting room to say my car is ready. My car was running ready to go right by the door. I was like, "So, I don't have to pay? or anything?" The guy seemed confused. Then, a lady told me to go to the service desk. I went to the service desk and they said it would be at least 15 minutes before my bill will be processed therefore I should go back to the waiting room. Luckily, I thought to go back to my car, which was running, to turn off the engine and grab the keys. After 15 minutes, another person came to get me to say the bill was processed. I went to the service desk to find out that was not true. Then went back to the waiting room, and then another person came and got me. I meet five employees total through the simple process of changing a tire. Thankfully, my bill came to what they had quoted me at, so that is a positive. Based on this experience and prior experiences, they are just TOO DISORGANIZED for my taste. These miscommunications and inconsistencies have happened before here. I've always brushed it off as "new employees" or "new management." However, today I reached a point where I realized this disorganization was truly the culture of the company. I am lucky that everything worked out, but I feel like I was truly lucky. I do not feel confident in the management of the team moving forward. I am worried if I go there again there will just be even more inconveniences. I would recommend going elsewhere if you can. You will get frustrated sitting in that waiting room talking to five different people. read more

45 years driving. Never had a worse service experience. After picking my vehicle up from routine maintenance, the engine light was on. This was in April 2014. After taking it in four times, leaving it for 1-2 days at a time, I was instructed to leave it there and take a loaner vehicle. After five months of excuses, I called Audi USA corporate headquarters and filed a complaint. Two days later the vehicle was fixed. I did not get any offer for compensation on the previous "fixes" I paid for. Upon getting the vehicle back (January 2014), I found out the battery needed to be replaced. I assume this was due to the service department leaving the vehicle outside with the hood open for five months - never starting it to recharge the battery. They wanted $400 to replace the battery. I tried to negotiate a discount as I believed the premature aging of my two-year old battery was due to the service department's handling of the vehicle. They absolutely refused. Fool me once, etc. right? read more

No stars-not a Customer service oriented business. There is no team work going on here to prevent chaos and confusion. Went for an oil change left after waiting over an hour for the oil change. My paperwork had been put in the wrong pile and my car hadn't been touched. This is after I told the guy who wrote up the work order that I didn't have time to be there for 2-3 hours. I verified that my oil change would take approximately 40-45 minutes. So glad I got up to check the status of my vehicle or I'd still be sitting there waiting. This happened on 4-13-15. Appointment at 3:30 for an oil change, at 4:35 checked status of vehicle. I will drive to another dealer for routine maintenance. The first oil change I had done at this location, April of 2014, I spoke with someone and scheduled an appointment or to find out when I arrived for my scheduled appointment that the guy who worked on Subaru's didn't come in that day until 30 minutes later. Why was I scheduled for an oil change at that time? Can't get basic routine services done in a timely matter, no teamwork amongst each other and no customer service. read more

Seriously, every time I've had to deal with them it's been a bad experience. Just trying to set up an oil change appointment took 4 calls and about 12 transfers including someone obviously on the other end of the phone hanging up on me. They really need to get their act together. They deserve zero stars. read more

Another month passes with my car sitting at Grossinger. Now the excuse is we couldn't get in touch with the company who sold us the replacement engine we can't fix. it is now been 15 months since they took money to repair the car- imagine Grossinger stating another company does not return calls- if you ever have done business with Grossinger good luck getting a return call. On to month 16. worst dealership in State of Illinois. terrible customer service and terrible management. read more

I had purchased an extended warranty contract. When I called to make sure it covered oil changes and tire rotations I was advised that yes it did. I scheduled an appointment and came in for the oil change and tire rotation. The service took two hours the Saturday I had came in to visit. Paul was very friendly in service department. About two days later I received a phone call from Paul stating that the oil change and tire rotation was not covered under the extended warranty. I called the dealership I purchased the Subaru from and was told that the extended warranty only covered if something serious happened with the automobile (any issues with car needing repair) for one year. I called Paul back to advise that I would be in Monday 1/19/15. I came in and wanted to pay up because I want to do things honestly. I was going to be a loyal customer to this business and obtain every oil change, tire rotation, etc. from them.Paul walked me up and advised me that from here on out he would give me a 50% off discount for every oil change and tire rotation and to see him in the service area after I checked out. The woman gave me the bill and it was for $151! I refused to pay that. She advised me to talk to Paul and the manager in service. The manager refused to speak with me. The manager told Paul he could knock it down to $120, for a oil change and a tire rotation! Paul advised me the tire rotation costs $40. So, this means the synthetic oil costs $80? This is a rip off and I will never, ever be back! Paul told me that they have to use Subaru parts. Well I didn't request parts, I requested an oil change and a tire rotation. My car is brand new and only had about 5,000 on it at the time, I don't need any parts yet. I will never, ever be back at this dealership. Terrible service, especially to an honest customer that was planning on being a loyal customer until I purchased a new vehicle. read more

Got a flat tire on my E350 last Sunday evening and had my vehicle towed over to Grossinger as I know they are good with Mercedes. The techs here are great. Their customer service is absolutely without question horrendous. Let's start with no voice mail or answering machine to leave them a message for Monday morning. Let's not start with the fact that when I called starting at 8AM on Monday morning that they didn't answer then phone or was there a way to leave a message of any kind still. Tried up until 9:30AM monday morning before going into a meeting and STILL wasn't able to get a hold of a person. The same dam message telling me no operators were available. So, after my meeting about 10:45 i was FINALLY able to talk with someone. This person will remain nameless but is part of the service desk. He was curt. I was asking the status of my vehicle as I'm from out of town and was needing to get back ASAP. He said the only thing he could say was they would look at the car by the end of the day. Well, that's about accurate. Sometime around 3:30 or so they said yes, it's a flat and not repairable, you'll need all 4 replaced. Unfortunately for me they don't carry those tires in stock that I needed. They would have them in on Tuesday however. Tuesday late afternoon I finally received a phone call that my vehicle would be ready in about 30 minutes or so. It was about 3ish if I recall properly. I also asked to have one other item looked at and it was like i was asking way to much. My information buttons aren't working and i wanted them to look at them. They have claimed they did however these buttons still aren't working nor do they light up like they should. I called back today Friday asking if I could get in. Yes it was 4 and they close at 4:30. okay, how about Saturday, nope no Mercedes techs on Saturday. No apology of any kind no let me see what we can do for next week. nothing, notta. I'm done with you. I'll take it to a dealer who wants to actually help. You no longer exist in my book. read more

I happened across a post on Facebook regarding a car show at Grossinger, saw a lot of negative reviews , and I added some of my own. Well the Volvo Technician happened across the post and spent alot of time talking to several people about there complaints , He assured us that the new owners were aggressively trying to get rid of the bad apples in the dealership and repair the horrid reputation they inherited when they bought the dealership from Suds. I decided to give them another shot based on this information. Brought the Wife's Volvo in today for its 37500 mile service, She was immediately greeted, treated very professionally and we dropped the car off , the technician contacted me on some small questions and concerns, and we were notified when the car was ready to be picked up. I accompanied my wife to pick the car up and again we were immediately greeted , checked out The bill was very reasonable , nothing was oversold to me that was not needed, The car was washed and the interior vacuumed out, I was told this was standard but had not happened for me ever before through 4 different cars. Overall I am very very happy with the service i received today, If not for past negative experiences It would be a flat 5 stars , I am glad I decided to give them another try, Hopefully they keep up the stellar work. read more
