We would never hire Eddie "Osario" Mercado of Pergola Pros to do deck work in Roseville MN again…read more It has become more and more aggravating having to look at and live with his sloppy work every day from a real-life perspective. He made so many claims and excuses to justify his poor work, it would take forever to unpack them. He doesn't know how to work his tools. It's almost like he hijacked a pro's tools and took them for a joyride. He makes excuses that the quality wood is warped and that's why he can't cut straight or make pieces line up. A real carpenter doesn't make excuses like Eddie does, he/she makes it square. I requested he give me just 50% of the quote I received to have his work remedied by a real pro. Of course, he refused and has abandoned the project. Excuses. Excuses. Excuses. If you like excuses, you'll like Eddie. At our initial meeting, he impressed us claiming had three crews working at the moment. Later he slipped he was a one-man shop. He said that we were lucky that the deck and its support were in superb condition and that construction will be a quick 1 1/2 day job to install and stain the railings. Anything to get the sale, I suppose and my fault for not initially questioning his grandiose claims. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: For us he was a big disappointment, and it will cost us a LOT of money to do the necessary demo work and redo it. He won't take responsibility. He attempted to the con that the high-quality cedar lumber was crooked and that is why his cuts were so out of true. Additionally, he tried to sell the obvious false argument that whatever cedar deck railing lumber wasn't crooked must have warped, shrunk and moved out of true just after he finished. This was highest quality stain-ready cedar lumber that was delivered from Menards the same day he started work. SUMMARY: The railings he installed are crooked with mismatched cuts and sloppy missed angles making the railings look embarrassingly amateur. The pictures below were taken the day he finished. He will not repair his blunders because he admits it was to the best of his ability. HE REFUSED TO RETURN TO CORRECT THE WORK. I suppose if I carefully select angles that hide the defects and get a good distance away, I could have pictures showing a beautiful deck railing. I can't do that. My pictures shown below.

The job, which was supposed to take a day and a half ran to almost two weeks due to one delay after another (including multiple instances of not having the right materials delivered at the right time). At no point during this process did Mark communicate with us. We were always calling and texting; most of the time getting no response. The lack of customer service and communication was extreme and I would never use him again nor would I recommend him to anyone.

We met with several top deck builders to get estimates and design quotes. We were impressed with all of them, but Infinite Decks was the only one who was willing to figure out a design issue in order to bring it up to code. By far, this made them the best design. When it came to installation, I was continually impressed with the high quality materials and design. The new drilled pier post foundations are fantastic and they make my old footers look like childs play. Several times we had to make adjustments on the fly and they were always very accommodating and responsive, which is very important to me. They really did an awesome job all around and have even been responsive and helpful POST job finish, which is also refreshing to see, as some folks forget about you once the work is done. We absolutely love our new deck and expect that it will likely outlast us!

I had been thinking of a deck rebuild for a couple of years. Our cedar deck was showing its age,…read moreand I was concerned about structural integrity so I started talking to contractors in late November as I wanted to get it done in time for spring. My first question was about ownership-I wanted to AVOID the all too common Venture-backed firm, preferring to use someone local. I talked to 3 companies that came up in my google search and frankly didn't expect the winner to be these guys (don't like the dumb name). one dropped out after a site visit and another ghosted me never providing a follow up. To be fair this was going on in late December. In contrast, Chad from Ugly Deck came out the next day to discuss the project and provided a very detailed quote for the work. Before we finalized things we visited their show room in shakopee to look at styles, colors and features. Chad even called me the next day after major knee surgery to follow-up! Now that's commitment. We were planning on an April 1 start but because of the stretch of nice weather, they called asking to start in mid February. I learned that they have certain core (highly experienced) staff employed year round so I'd be getting their two best, Jason and Pat plus 2 more guys on the project. The demolition and reconstruction took around 8 days in total and the crew showed up promptly and began work every day at 7:30. I was really impressed with their skill, workmanship and attention to detail. All 4 guys kept things moving despite rain, sleet, snow and cold. I just can say enough about their abilities and work ethic. They also kept the work site picked up and gates closed to keep the dog in. While the cost for the all new composite deck with snazzy aluminum railings wasn't cheap, I'm really glad we opted to go with them. I'd definitely recommend them looking to have a deck built or redone. Can't wait for deck season.

I went with Ugly Deck as I noticed in reviews that quality was never in question. Anyway, these guys delivered. Exceeded expectations and did it sooner than I expected. Scott S was helpful and flexible with design and Jason and crew did an incredible job on site. Highly recommend! 1) Estimate and Design: A+ 2) Communication and Scheduling: A+ 3) Installation, professionalism and quality: A+ 4) Price: A (only A+ if free ;)
