First off, I do not recommend coming here unless you absolutely need to. The library itself is actually very cute and convenient, and it has everything you'd expect from a public library. Printing in both black and white and color is also much cheaper than going to places like UPS or Staples.
That being said, if you do come here, park at your own risk.
The parking situation is awful. From what I was told, library staff are well aware of the problem, but unfortunately, it's outside of their control. There are only about 10 designated parking spaces for library patrons, despite this being a public library.
The library shares its parking area with an apartment complex, and most of the remaining spaces are designated for tenants, apartment guests, disabled parking, or staff. That leaves an unbelievably small number of spaces for people actually using the library. There are literally more chairs inside the library than there are parking spaces for patrons. Make that make sense. Also, this library entrance faces the Valley Blvd. while it shares walls to an apartment complex. The entire structure is just weird.
To make matters worse, towing appears to be aggressively enforced. A patron I spoke with who lives in the connected apartment complex told me that his own car had recently been towed from the parking lot and he lives there! I nearly experienced the same thing myself.
When I arrived, all of the designated library spaces were occupied. I found an empty space next to the library-designated parking and figured I could park there for just a few minutes while I ran inside. I was wrong.
When I came back out, a tow truck was already positioned behind my car and appeared ready to tow it. Thankfully, I reached my car in time. As I backed out, the driver gave me enough room to leave. I can only imagine how many other library patrons haven't been so lucky.
I was told that parallel street parking is available along Valley Boulevard, but personally, I don't parallel park, and Valley Boulevard is a busy street. That isn't a particularly practical alternative for everyone.
The parking situation alone is the reason for my low rating. The library itself is perfectly fine, and the employees shouldn't be blamed for a situation that appears to be beyond their control. But having only around 10 designated patron spaces for a public library, combined with aggressive towing enforcement in the surrounding lot, makes visiting unnecessarily stressful.
A better parking solution for library patrons seriously needs to be considered.
Bathrooms are clean. Library is super quiet and super clean. The staff are extremely helpful. If it wasn't for the parking, this would be a 10/10 experience. read more
