Horrible. Exceedingly rude staff…read more My husband brought our son here on several occassions to have his teeth cleaned. Apparently, the insurance (Aetna) was not paying for the cleaning due to issues with the date of service being input wrong on their end. Received an over the top malicious phone call from someone at their office demanding I pay immediately and how could I not pay my bill for so long and how it was for so much money ($300-really?!). When asked if she or someone else from their office could call my husband as the insurance was through them I was asked if I was divorced? Extremely unprofessional. We won't be back.

His staff is also wonderful and knowledgable. They all instill proper dental hygiene habits to their patients ( and informing again to parents of what to look out for), in a non threatening, pleasant way. I can honestly recommend this practice for any parents (and I do tell anyone who will listen) searching for a quality pediatric dental practice. To me, they are top shelf, and most importantly, my kids think so too. They always leave with a smile, well partly because Dr. Wrubel makes balloon animals or hats for every kid if they want one. Sadly, this year, my 15 yr old declined. The neat thing was, the good doctor still offered with a smile.

I lost most of my front tooth in a surfacing accident when I was 11. I had had the bond replaced a…read morecouple times and it was always too big for my mouth, so my husband and I decided it was time to get it fitted correctly and crowned. I made my first appointment. A few days before the appointment, it was canceled. I called back to reschedule and met Dr. Stoddart. I was EXTREMELY pleased with her at first. I swore I would never see another dentist again. After the appointment, they wanted me to drive to the lab in Branford to make sure the crown would fit (or that's what they told me). I show up in Branford and they were like "uhh we only match the color?" I was in the chair for less than 60 seconds before they told me I was done and the color would be fine. Okay? Meanwhile Dr. Stoddart had cut my mouth a few times shaping my tooth for a permanent crown and she absolutely tore up my gum. I couldn't eat anything but soft food for 3 weeks after and I had nerve pain going from my tooth to halfway up my nose. My gum was black and blue and bleeding for literally a few weeks. Yesterday was my appointment for my new crown. I showed up early and it was super busy. I sat down in the chair and Dr. Stoddart told me she didn't like how the lab shaped the back of the new tooth. There was a little piece on the back that stuck out. She told me she didn't have time to fix it or she would get behind on my patients. I've never had a doctor say that to me before, so I just looked at her and said okay, I'll come back this week. She took the temporary crown that she had just taken off and reattached it. Unbeknownst to me, it has a huge break in the back of it where it met my gum. It was literally a hole in the back of the tooth. She reattached it, and as I was checking out I realized the hole. I freaked out a little, especially when they told me I couldn't come back until December 22. The past 24 hours has been lots of fun, where every drink I take a sip of, I can feel the liquid floating in the back of the temporary. The office called later that day to fit me in for today (the following day). I showed up 15 minutes early and expected my permanent crown. When I sat down in the chair, she said I couldn't use that one, it had the piece sticking out still. I was surprised and asked if she could just drill it off and she said no, she needed to get another tooth made from the lab. At this point I'm really upset. Then she numbs me up and starts shaping my tooth more. To say I'm in pain is an understatement. I was writhing on the chair with tears pouring down my cheeks in serious pain. The back of my tooth felt like there was a massive hole leading into my palette. I didn't even cry in the childbirth of my two children but this was intolerable. After her THREE impressions were done and my mouth was literally burning, she made a new temporary crown for me. I made the follow-up appointment for December 22. I walked to my car, got in and looked in the mirror. You can literally see the remnants of my real tooth under the temporary. There are spots on the temporary. It doesn't line up. It's adhered to the tooth to the right of it. It is an absolute joke and to make it all the better, I'm seeing my family for Thanksgiving in 2 days. I wish I could give less than 1 star for this. Let's not forget the fact that I paid $500 so far. Three appointments, one lab trip to Branford and a mouth full of pain. That's what $500 has bought me.

I have been going there for closed to 15 years. I highly recommend them for all around amazing care. This particular review is about what happened yesterday. My son slipped on ice and fell causing major injury to his permanent teeth. I called immediately at 7am and Marcie answered. When explaining what happened, she gave us the first slot possible with our usual dentist Dr. Stoddard. I can't express enough on how much we love Dr. Stoddard. She replaced Dr. Mason(whom we also loved) when he retired. She's always super positive and always makes us feel comfortably- even my anxious 8 year old loves her and refuses anyone else with the exception of Ashley the hygienist . Well, as soon she and her assistant saw the state my son was in, she cleared her morning to help him with his injured teeth. It was incredible the amount of care and time they put into him. They were extremely gentle with his teeth acknowledging the amount of pain he was in. They ended up putting a stint on his teeth to help prevent them from falling out. And they even assessed and advised us on the scrapes and bruises on his face and big gash on his lips. I'm glad to say he's doing much better and mending quickly. I've been to a few dental offices before landing at Family Dental. I have always believed that they were top notch, but the addition of Dr. Stoddard has taken them to a whole new level of care.

Absolutely love them, I would recommend them to anyone with kids, please please bring you kids here…read moreeven if it's just for a routine checkup. You will thank me for sure. From the moment you step in you know your in good hands, the staff treats you really well. They are very patient with kids quite the contrary to my previous experience at the dentist (impatient and rude). The best part was the TV mounted on the ceiling which plays your fav Netflix show, OMG! thats ingenious and makes such a huge difference, it calmed my kid down immensely. And at the end of the check up you get a golden coin to exchange for a toy and stickers, kids love that stuff....any anxiety of visiting the dentist henceforth is all gone. The reason that brought me here was because the treatment plan suggested at the previous dentists was very vigorous and harsh on a small child, but the doctor here took the time to sit down and explain to me the approach he would take (which was way simpler and more correct in my opinion) and I was immediately onboard. I can't stop saying nice things about them... I recommend them 100%. One more thing I forgot to mention, they are very accommodating and super responsive over the phone as well.

The dentists are all professional. Scheduling is a little foo-y. There is always a super long, wait for your next appointment. The quality is worth the wait, but it is kind of annoying if you have multiple kids. I appreciate how they never use metal fillings. I like how there are TVs on the ceilings and the kids get to pick a Netflix show of their choice while their teeth are being cleaned. I like how the kids are given sunglasses to wear when being examined under the bright light. I like it. There are extra staff available to assist with x-rays. My kids enjoy the coins they earn and the prize machine they give out fun toothbrushes with popular characters on them. My kids all enjoy coming to the dentist, even if they have a cavity.
