I first visited in September 2023 and after some x rays and a detailed discussion with Dr. Rode, we agreed that I needed to have bunion surgery on each foot. We scheduled to do the right foot about 4 months later and I'm now almost 3 months post surgery so I thought it was time for a review. First things first, the office is nice, the staff is incredibly friendly and they take you right in when you arrive for your appointment. I also had the challenge of working with my employer's benefits division to obtain permission to work fully remotely during my 2 months of being unable to drive/walk and Ashley and the other staffers who I dealt with were so patient with all of my "can you fill this form out AGAIN" requests. My surgery was scheduled for 7am on a Thursday at Bloomfield Ambulatory (see my great review for that place) and the whole experience felt swift, extremely professional and calming. Dr. Rode came in, drew a smiley face on my toe and a couple of hours later I was resting in at home in bed. They did give me a nerve block that held the pain at bay for about 48 hours. Other than that, I'm happy that Dr. Rode is not one to prescribe heavy hitting opiates for pain. I received an RX just for ibuprofen and it worked well. If you look at my pictures, you'll see that I was sent home from surgery with a cool cold/ice wrap, wrapped into my bandages. I connected a device that did both icing and compression on both legs, to facilitate healing and prevent blood clots. Great contraption! After 4 weeks on crutches and not bearing weight, I was moved into a very sturdy walking boot for another 4 weeks. Finally, when I was giving my actual walking papers I did get a stern talking to about how awful my current sneakers (Pumas) would be to start walking. I did get a specific running shoe suggestion from the doc and that's what I've been using since. I will have swelling for a few months but I can tell you this, my foot looks incredible and it feels pain free. Now I have to schedule the other one to be fixed. Took him to a…read morelower limb specialist and they referred him to a rheumatologist and started him on PT where the Dr at West Hartford Podiatry had to be convinced to even order orthotics. Those orthotics were ordered at the beginning of August and weren't in till end of September. Unhappy and will never be returning.

Surgical procedures available range from: Ophthalmology (including mine), Podiatry (including mine), Ear/Nose/Throat (ENT) and Gastroenterology. My wife previously had two procedures here and today mine was performed without any hick-ups. The wait, short. The pre-op prep a breeze, short, not rushed, and very comforting. The surgery, from what I can remember, top notch without a worry in the world. Recovery, super easy, like nothing happened, graham crackers devoured and ginger ale guzzled. Depending on your procedure you can be in and out in 2-4 hours; mine roughly a 3 hour tour. Make sure your Chauffeur delivers and picks-up. Also, do not hesitate asking for an official prescription for your favorite sweet; I hit the jack pot ICE CREAM!

Do not be surprised when you arrive and the door to the facility says they're open at 7am because it's a lie. They start getting in right at 6 and let you into the comfortable waiting room. The woman at the front desk was super sweet to me and others, including a bit of a Karen, with whom she dealt with kindly and swiftly. Once I got behind the surgical doors it was like a surgery factory in the best way. Immediately I had a couple of people tending to me in terms of getting me info, giving me info, giving me anesthesia (with great explanations of everything they were going to do to me). I then spotted my orthopedic surgeon, who also gave me great expectations on what to expect. Next thing you know it's 11am, I'm awake back in the same recovery space and feeling good with some saltines and ginger ale. I was swiftly wheelchaired to my wife, waiting with the car at the front door of the facility. Easy peasy. The facility called me the following day to check up on me and remind me of my Dr.'s orders. My doc is not into prescribing hard hitting, addictive opiates so I left with only an RX for strong ibuprofren. The facility reminded me when they called that I can also take Tylenol in between ibuprofren doses, if I needed. I have to have surgery on my other foot either later this year or next and I will definitely use the same Surgeon (Dr. Rode of WH Podiatry) and Bloomfield Ambulatory Surgery Center. Top notch.

Dr. Desai is great. He is very friendly and removed both of my husband's ingrown toe nails…read more However, Regie in the office is particularly rude. I was told I would be able to be in the room with my husband during his procedure by the medical assistant that brought us back. When Regie saw me sitting in the room as she was walking down the hall she waited until Dr.Desai walked out of the room after numbing my husbands toe before telling me it wasn't allowed (I had been in the room for over 10 minutes at that point). My husband then heard her berating the women who said it was okay for me to be in the room.

I have been working with Dr. Martone since a bad car accident in 1997. After many problems with, at…read morethe time, a broken foot, but was never corrected by the acting Dr, martone explained that to fix a major problem would require surgery along with an exterior casing to hold the foot in place. This I underwent and as was promised, I encountered zero pain while having this casing in place for three months. Now in 2014, that foot still is in great shape and he was able to offer me the quality of life that all would expect. Because of this experience, I found myself here again to address a different issue that has now required the use of orthotics for my shoes. Dr martone is one of the best in the area and would hands down recommend him for any foot related issues.

I had to take time from work to be here. This office has no respect for anyone else's time. Front desk staff comes across as indifferent at best. Dr. Silverstein began my last visit with questions indicating that he clearly hadn't reviewed my chart before coming in. Poor service, moderate care at best. After this appointment, I will be looking for a better doctor/office.

I have been a patient of this office for over 25 years. I was initially a patient of Dr. Atlas who…read morewas the Best! However, since he retired I have been transferred to at least 4 different medical providers. I've had no complaints until recently because I usually only visit this office once a year. The current front desk staff(Marisol and the new heavy set one with a terrible attitude) always seem to be miserable. I dread calling the office because I know I will most likely be greeted rudely and made to feel as though I am a burden. Questions are not encouraged and when I've sought out further clarification the response I've received was one of annoyance. Any requests for a phone call with my provider have always been declined and my only option has been to schedule an appointment even if an appointment was not necessary. It seems that this practice is money driven and if they do not feel your medical concern is a priority, they make it very clear by their lack of patience with you. It's too bad that the lack of customer service and rude front desk staff who represent this practice have such a negative impact that one would walk away from 25 years of care for a new provider who is welcoming and attentive. Big difference! I hate to say it but I think the fact that this practice primarily serves patients from lower socio-economic backgrounds impacts the quality of care provided and the general attitude of superiority and disregard for patient care, which can be seen in their lack of respect for even basic human interaction. I also think that they are so used to treating patients with Husky insurance, that they are not sensitive to the financial needs of patients with co-payments and/or deductibles who might not be so eager to be seen when a solution may not require an office visit. Mona Chiurillo, APRN has been pleasant and helpful. She's definitely an asset. Also, her MA is always very kind, friendly and helpful. Unless you have no other choice, I wouldn't recommend this practice!
