I saw a psychiatrist initially who I felt was compassionate. She was able to diagnose me, but wasn't able to provide additional therapy sessions like I requested. After diagnosis, I got depressed and had to keep begging for additional support for months! I should have run at this point! The billing department input my insurance information into my account wrong and they were trying to charge me for the psychiatrist's appointment out of pocket. Almost a year later, I am STILL receiving phone calls and emails even though I called 5+ times to get it cleared up. Each time, they promise to note my account, admitting that they messed up, that the insurance was put in wrong, etc. And then like 2-3 months go by and I get another call. Extremely frustrating since I have gone out of my way to clear it up with them so many times.
I did eventually get set up with a therapist that was unprofessional, unprepared, and unexperienced. She would sit on her couch. The laptop would move constantly during the session because it was clear she had it on her lap. Her camera was out of focus and fuzzy. I shared this with her but she didn't seem to care. I could tell she was in her living room which made me uncomfortable - how did I know other people weren't listening or in the room? And after I explained any situation or previous experience, the only thing she said was "oh WOW, oh that's a lot," or "oh I have never heard something like that before." I personally don't want to hear that anything I have experienced is unheard of from a therapist, and certainly not the main thing they say to you. read more
