I got an email from Zac about 30 minutes later, saying he could see us on Mothers Day at noon and just to send him an idea of what we were looking for. Zac was quick to respond to me and to top it off, he came in on his day off to do this for us! When we got there he had a few stencils drawn up for us to choose from (based on the ideas I had sent him via email), he tweaked one of them a little bit for us, and then we got started. The place is spacious, well lit and super clean, we watched Zac take his time to clean up the area and his equipment in between each one of our tattoos. He was fun and friendly and patient with us due to our indecisiveness (remember... 4 women!!). We are all very pleased with the end results and would highly recommend Scottish Rose Tattoo, specifically, Zac!

But these folks exceeded not just my expectations, but my hopes, in every possible way. First of all, we are a low-income family, but I didn't want to go to a mall-based option, so I was researching price options. Bevel was actually one of the best prices for a minor, if not the best I found. I also called ahead of time to ask about their cheaper jewelry options. Even though it's a pretty swanky place, the person I talked to was not only understanding, but enthusiastic about making sure I had the info I needed. There was no hint of just being "tolerated" even though I wasn't going to give them much money. And they really do have an extensive selection of LOVELY jewelry at the lower end of their price range that suit a variety of tastes. Second of all, our family is at high risk for covid, so we still mask in public spaces. Nate was our piercer, and he took the initiative to offer to mask for us when we saw were wearing masks. That means a lot to us, and the proactive attention and care says a lot about the attitude he brings to the place. I was a bit nervous for my daughter, because she is highly sensitive in pretty much every way, including to pain. Nate was spectacular. Not only did he talk her through every step ahead of time (including a discussion of consent, where he ensured her that she could say at any moment that she needed a break or some space), but he was encouraging and fun in a natural way--not in the overly cheery way some folks interact with kids. She commented after we got home about how nice he was. As I had expected, she experienced the piercing as fairly painful, and Nate was absolutely perfect. In between ears, he did not push AT ALL to move on to the second ear, even though I'm sure we were taking quite a bit of his time. He gave her space to calm and prepare, encouraged her to let out the tears she had forming, and affirmed how well she was doing. He even offered to send us home with some saline wipes that feel cool on the pierced area and help soothe some of the pain, which really did help my daughter for the next couple hours. I honestly have tears in my eyes writing this. The piercings also look great, of course, but a lot of people can do a good piercing. The way we were treated from start to finish--especially the genuine care offered to my kiddo--was what really stood out, and I truly can't recommend these folks enough.

He did great on the tattoo, however he was extremely rude and made sarcastic, unnecessary, and unprofessional comments. My mother and I went in for a tattoo together for my birthday and he tried changing the day to get our tattoo two days before the scheduled date so he could go camping, which has been planned MONTHS ahead of time. Basically, if he asks to change time, just do it, then you'll probably have a great experience. I have never seen somebody act so unprofessional and irritated. We will never go again.

Since Sacred Siren closed suddenly I had to go elsewhere and had no idea what kind of jewelry I had in or needed to downsize to. Thankfully the ladies here barely batted an eye and helped me swap out for what I needed and sent me home with salt and instructions for a salt soak (Sacred Siren just had me doing saline sprays for a few months). The team here was shocked that Siren had me coming in 8 weeks after my initial piercing but said they'd follow whatever my original piercing said to do. I was initially nervous I was doing something wrong but I am glad I downsized when I did as I'm much more comfortable now. Soaking is a pain and I definitely can't do it twice a day but I will follow their instructions as much as I can for the next few months until I'm more fully healed. Place is pretty sparce with not a whole lot of jewelry to choose from. For some new bars and a jewelry change it came to be about $26. They honestly recommended going to Etsy for new jewelry which is what I did. I know they'd be happy to swap my next jewellry out in a few months but I'll just do it at home now that I know more of what's going on and what's in my body. They left me with my sizes and my old bars so I can purchase new items easily online.

I only gave 4 stars mainly because of how scheduling works, but it's understandable for the business itself. If I didn't like Dan or his work I would have had to go elsewhere, but because of him I am willing to wait however long it takes (even if I miss a few times of scheduling) to get more work! He makes the tattoo process far more bearable even when it hurts. (Scheduling is calling between 2-4pm on the first of each month. If you forget or it fills up, you have to wait a month to try again! At least this is with tattooing, as far as I'm aware. Looks like piercings could be different. I'd suggest calling to ask!)

So I stopped by Almost Famous in north east to get it screwed back in since it's in a very difficult to reach position. I had the pleasure of having Maggie help me and she was super friendly! She kept it very clean and sterile and it took about a minute for the entire process! She even positioned the piercing the way I wanted it and cleaned the area. I can tell she did a good job in tightening the jewelry and I feel so much better knowing it won't come off again! I plan on coming back in 6 months to switch out the jewelry once it's healed :)
