The lighting is not that great in this salon, so it was hard to tell how my color turned out. But it is dark. Darker than anything I have ever had done And the highlites? I paid for highlites, where are they ? I used their own wording to tell them what I wanted to have done, " Dimensional blonde with beach waves " I didn't get demensional highlites, I got dark hair with some highlites. But this is dark, almost red brown. Then I go to pay and the bill comes out to $400. !!!! Never in my entire life have I paid $400 for my hair. Maybe some of you pay this much, but I never have. $150 is a good average for my hair. I was so astonished, I didn't know what to say. But at home I went over this in my mind & it really bothered me. So I called & talked to the owner and told her how upset I am. She went over my costs and found that I had been charged TWICE for the haircut. And her costs have gone up, her hair color has gone up $40 so she has to charge me 3 times what it costs to color my hair. I always leave a nice tip for my hair stylist, but when all was done it ended up costing me $402.00 for this nothing special hair And I never did get my demensional highlights. The owner promised me a refund and its been two weeks and not a dime has come back to me. Not even the over charging. I finally contacted my bank to see if they could do anything. And I tried to call but I guess my phone is blocked. The bottom line is this place is dishonest. They over charge. Because her cost of hair color went up $40 she charges you 3 times that much. And if they charge you for two hair cuts when you only got one.. well I guess thats ok too. Dishonesty. Does not keep her word. I will never go here again, and I am ashamed that a shop will behave this way. And I still have to go to someone else to get the hair I had hope to get at this place. Brittany is amazing…read more Pros: - Brittany is a bonified certified DevaCut Specialist - she's so knowledgeable about the various textures & types of Curly Girls - she was amazing with my Super Curly (aka kinky textured, 4a 4b) - she walked me through step by step of what she was doing - she was soooo quick, it took her about 1 hr & 1/2 (which typically takes me all day!) - I left prepared with a Deva Curl "prescription" specifically for my hair, telling me which products to get - I learned techniques I never knew before - she's such a friendly sweet lady Cons: - Absolutely none !!! ... well maybe that i live in CA & she's located in TX, haha!! But that's not her fault. I live in California, but was visiting family in Texas. I've been researching getting a DevaCut for a few years now... But it's kinda a scary thing to do when you've grown up for years as a Black woman not having "proper" education about "your" kind of hair. Being only given Damaging options of Relaxers and Weave and Braids and Wigs (which I refuse) OR Heat Damaging options of Blow Outs, Flat Irons, Press and Curls. So while in town, I just researched DevaCut on Yelp and low and behold Brittany came up with these great reviews. I called on Wed and she gave me an appointment for Friday! Woo hoo! My instructions were to come dry & detangled. I arrived early because I was nervous and excited and didn't want to be late. Brittany put me in rotation as she was finishing another client (who was also getting a DevaCut for the first time). I told her my struggles & to just work her magic (I figured if I was going to go for it, why interfere with her judgement of what needed to be trimmed...). I don't think she ever used a brush or comb - & she educated me on this . The products smell so good, don't leave gooky residue & I'm sold. She also recommended a great book that has great tips for those transitioning into healthy hair. I bought the products she had in stock & I'll buy the rest on Amazon. I'm excited about this journey. While I was getting my cut I mentioned that I had recently got highlights at another salon that were pretty underwhelming and I was curious to know if she could give me what I wanted. So I booked a Saturday for my color and Brittney hooked me up!!! She patiently worked to correct the previous color and gave me exactly what I wanted. And I love love love the results! If you have curly or wavy hair and live in the Cypress, Tomball, or Katy areas, you have to go see Brittney!
