Brittany is amazing Pros: - Brittany is a bonified certified DevaCut Specialist - she's so knowledgeable about the various textures & types of Curly Girls - she was amazing with my Super Curly (aka kinky textured, 4a 4b) - she walked me through step by step of what she was doing - she was soooo quick, it took her about 1 hr & 1/2 (which typically takes me all day!) - I left prepared with a Deva Curl "prescription" specifically for my hair, telling me which products to get - I learned techniques I never knew before - she's such a friendly sweet lady Cons: - Absolutely none !!! ... well maybe that i live in CA & she's located in TX, haha!! But that's not her fault. I live in California, but was visiting family in Texas. I've been researching getting a DevaCut for a few years now... But it's kinda a scary thing to do when you've grown up for years as a Black woman not having "proper" education about "your" kind of hair. Being only given Damaging options of Relaxers and Weave and Braids and Wigs (which I refuse) OR Heat Damaging options of Blow Outs, Flat Irons, Press and Curls. So while in town, I just researched DevaCut on Yelp and low and behold Brittany came up with these great reviews. I called on Wed and she gave me an appointment for Friday! Woo hoo! My instructions were to come dry & detangled. I arrived early because I was nervous and excited and didn't want to be late. Brittany put me in rotation as she was finishing another client (who was also getting a DevaCut for the first time). I told her my struggles & to just work her magic (I figured if I was going to go for it, why interfere with her judgement of what needed to be trimmed...). I don't think she ever used a brush or comb - & she educated me on this . The products smell so good, don't leave gooky residue & I'm sold. She also recommended a great book that has great tips for those transitioning into healthy hair. I bought the products she had in stock & I'll buy the rest on Amazon. I'm excited about this journey. I went to see Brittney after finding her salon on a curly hair website. I was super excited to find a curly salon in the suburbs because it meant I wouldn't have to drive across Houston to get a cut! While I was getting my cut I mentioned that I had recently got highlights at another salon that were pretty underwhelming and I was curious to know if she could give me what I wanted. So I booked a Saturday for my color and Brittney hooked me up!!! She patiently worked to correct the previous color and gave me exactly what I wanted. And I love love love the results! So I was on a long search for someone who can trim my hair. And if anyone knows anything, you can't just let anyone perform that type of service on your hair. Insert Deva Cut. I was intrigued by it. I mean who cuts their hair in its natural curly state? I was nervous but I made an appointment with Brittney anyways. It's $75.00 for a deva cut and that included a wash and style. For me, it's a little expensive but I'm sure it's more expensive elsewhere. What impressed me was the knowledge that you gain from the experience. I've been wearing my hair curly for years and just recently I just felt like it wasn't manageable, because of my ends. It's heartbreaking to know that I've been mistreating my hair for years. The DevaCurl products are sulfate, paraben and silicone free. Completely different from my usually products and it smelt so good. After my visit, my hair had a lot of volume and shrinkage. I didn't know my hair could get so big and still be curly. It looked good until it dried up the next day. That's when I decided that my hair needed a deep conditioner badly. DO NOT GO HERE!!! This woman is a crook. She had so many good reviews but Due to bad reviews I had read (which stated fairly big deals in my opinion) I decided to scheduled a consultation with her. I wanted to make sure she was going to have time to take care of me, what I wanted was achievable and that I was going to leave happy. Well boy none of that happened. I shared my appointment with 4 difference clients. So she definitely was not focused on me and my hair. I wanted a style(cut and shape) and color. There is no shape all she did was cut the ends. Didn't even touch around my face or the top of my head. So I have no layer or volume to my hair. My hair is all different lengths. There are strands of hair 2 inches longer than the rest randomly all over my head. The color is not even close to what I asked. I have whole curls that start brown at the roots turn yellow in the middle and back brown at the ends all over my head. When the blonde was supposed to be at the ends. AND MY CURLS ARE ALMOST GONE!!! Before I went to her I had bouncy volumous curls. Now my curls are lifeless and limp. From the second I saw my hair it was wrong. I stated this and she was done and rude. Never even finished my cut. She gave every excuse and lie in the book as the why is was not her fault that she ruined my hair. "It's because you only started your curly hair journey a year ago" "it's because the products you were using before" "it's because it takes more than one session to achieve the color you wanted" "it's because you said you didn't want that color" Which none was true. Or mention when asked during the consultation. I specifically asked if one session was achievable for the color. I would have never agreed to color otherwise. But of course its going to take more than one session with a chop job where the blonde isn't even where it needs to be or even close. This woman ruined my curls and confidence! And her only solution is to offer corrective services at a discount!!!!! You have got to be kidding me!!!!! You ruined my hair and you will offer me a discount?!? I've included pictures of how my hair was before, how she sent me home! What I wanted done. The proof is in the pudding. Do not trust this woman with your hair or anything she says. Pros: Brittney is very personable and really knows how to take care of the health of curly hair. It is clear that is her number 1 priority and she is good and open to teaching her clients how to maintain their hair health. Her salon is among several beauty shops in a large and very welcoming beauty center. It is clean and coffee and cookies are provided to clientele. Brittney is also very good at doing makeup for different skin tones and ages to look great in wedding photography. She is willing to get the look just right for you. Her pricing is very fair, and in doing makeup and hair for your wedding, she makes you feel like the number one client. My mom and I had a wonderful time. She also takes time to safely blow out, and detangle curly hair. We also had a practice hair/makeup trial before hand. It's been 5 days since the wedding and my husband still loves the style. Cons: I did have to touch up my curls at the wedding, but Brittney told me this would happen due to the humidity in Houston. Sometimes wedding makeup/photography makeup can look a touch unnatural in person, but looked great in the photos. Her mascara ran out, so we did have to use another to complete my moms and my look. Overall Recommendation: I would definitely recommend Brittney for general curly hair care, and safe wedding/special event hair styling. Being naturally curly one of our number one concerns is damaging of hair due to styling, and that will not happen with Brittney. I also recommend Brittney for special event photography makeup. Heard about this place from a client I met at Ulta -- both of us shopping for the Deva products. Loved Brittney from the minute I met her and she is a true expert of the Deva process. I'd been holding off in writing this review but here it goes... I went to Brittney two times, once when she was in her previous suite and once in her new suite in Tomball. For reference, I have 2C-3A curls, so not that hard to work with. To begin she had me waiting on both occasions. Sure it happens, but the second time it seemed like she wanted to get me in and out. The previous client took longer therefore I had to pay for it... BIG time! And it also seemed like she had overbooked her self. The second time (and last) I went in I was doing a huge change, my curly hair was down to my waist and I wanted to donate it. For anyone with long hair that wants to do a huge change like that I would have thought that she would have taken into consideration the nervousness her client is going through and how thorough she needs to be when listening and accomplishing the style requested. I had been collecting pictures for months of the style I was going for and the styles I DID NOT want. I clearly told her several times, I DONT want a bob. I DONT want really short layers, I want my hair shoulder length and I DONT want a triangle cut. I looked up the information from the place I was going to donate my hair to and the minimum requirement was 8 inches... I had about 14... MORE than enough and plenty for her to give me the style I was going for. Y'all... guess what she did..... YUP.... everything I DID NOT WANT!!!!!!! I couldn't notice it right away because she sent me off with super wet hair... didn't even give me the time to dry my hair cause she had to move on to the next client. Later that day when my hair completely dried I noticed she had given me the "triangle" cut... it was super heavy at the bottom. I tried my best to style it for a few days but with embarrassment I contacted her and asked if she could redo my hair. As soon as she saw me she even told me herself... yeah I don't know what happened. She could even tell she had done a poor job! And then guess what else she did... she ended up giving me a bob with really short layers in the back... talk about a complete disaster! This girl is all over the place. She should know to schedule the appointments with enough time in between to have enough time with each clients and not run them off like she did with me and learn how to PAY ATTENTION... even with pictures she couldnt give me the right style. I ended up leaving with the style I did NOT want and with it not even close to touching my shoulders. This was back in June of this year and just a few weeks ago my hair is touching my shoulders. It cost me close to $100 and 4 months of her mess up! I'm giving it enough time to grow to go somewhere else where they can clean up her mess. read more

After so much research, my daughter found this place and wanted to try it before the school year started. Brittney was awesome - she was able to accommodate me, my 2 daughters (10 & 11), my sister and her daughter (7) all on the same day!! We all loved our Deva Cuts!! My daughters & I have all different types of curly (from wavy to really curly) and she did a fantastic job! My sister and my niece have hardly any curl, but she got their curls to come out! THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE! BEWARE! I booked my appointment with Brittney Paradis and she is extremely unprofessional and very rude. I booked my appointment 3 weeks out, for Saturday 10/14 at 10:30am. I arrived on time, and when I walked in she wasn't anywhere near ready. She proceeded to tell me she had a bride who was getting married and was running late so it would be an hour wait. She also had to do makeup for 2 people in the wedding. She did not text me or call me to say she was running late previously. While waiting outside in my car she was texting me telling me updates. Naturally due to this huge inconvenience I asked if my services would be discounted, my total for the day was 225.00. Brittney proceeded to tell me she couldn't discount my services due to the cost of the products she uses. Wow! By this time I have been waiting for an hour and a half. So while sitting in my car another stylist came outside, I began having a conversation with her. Then Brittney decides to send me a text message saying " I came outside to grab you for your appointment but I saw you talking to another stylist, if you want her to do your hair then that's fine." How unprofessional is this lady? First you make me wait an hour and a half for my appointment, then proceed to tell me you "squeezed" me in and you are doing your best. Then when I'm talking to another stylist you assume I asking her about doing my hair and send me a text saying I can go to her? This lady is the WORST! I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH HER! I've been going to Brittney over a year and I can't say enough about how great she is. She is dedicated to her clients. She listens to what you want and educates you on the Deva products, the Deva process and any new products. She doesn't push extra products or services on you. She wants her clients to be happy with her work. I keep my hair short and curly, I love it this way and it fits me and Brittney makes sure that's what I have when I leave. One time, I got my appointment date wrong and showed up a day early, she had a client who finished early, her next client was due in 15-20 minutes and she squeezed me in without missing a beat. By the time her next client showed up, I was cut, washed and ready for the dryer. She worked on her next client while I was under the dryer. It was my mistake but she still went out of her way to take care of me! I've read some recent negative reviews about Brittney being unprofessional but seriously, if she was unprofessional she would have told me come back on the day my appointment was and she wouldn't have helped me. Brittney is the curl whisperer! You can rest easy knowing that she will bring life back to your curls. I've been straightening and color treating my hair for years. All of that processing has put a toll on the health of my curls and left me with damaged straight ends. When I went to Brittney she was very pleasant and knowledgeable about curl health and she gave me a lot of tips/techniques I can use to hydrate/define my curls. The cutting process wasn't scary, she asked me what I was wanting and talked me through what she was doing step by step. After the cut, I still have length but a nice shape without the straight pieces on my ends. Then, she walked me through the styling process. Deva products were used on my hair, she educated me on the proper way to use each product for my specific type of hair to get the absolute definition possible for my curls. Then, I was put under the dryer for a bit with hair clips for volume (yet another technique I learned from the curly-girl method) Once I was about 90% dry she accessed my cut and made some adjustments. Wow! My curls are alive, she resurrected them for sure lol. They still will need time to come back fully (I've been off heat for just 1 month) , but Brittney gave me a great starting point.
