I went to an Aveda salon in Chicago for close to 10 years (such a great salon) and thought that Aveda salons would be consistent across the country...oh, goodness, no. The first Aveda salon thinned my beautiful thick hair (didn't ask first) and the second literally left my perfect level 9/10 blonde balayage locks Bozo red and patchy. The senior colorist "tried" three times to bleach (she used developer, I later learned, which, of course, will never lead to the level of tone to create a blonde balayage) my very bleach-able hair before telling me "good luck" after attempting a shadow root, as for the third, thank God. Jessy at Carbon Salon literally saved my hair before my vacation and I will be forever grateful. Jessy was an absolute professional gem throughout my hair processing; she was knowledgeable, honest, and kind. Jessy did nothing without telling me first, which is something I needed after so many failed attempts to get my hair right. After my previous Texas salon colorists wanted me to know their whole life stories, Jessy wanted to know as much about me as I wanted to about her (again, super professional). Of course, that tied into my preferences with my hair color, cut, and style. Jessy took the time to listen to me and delivered a completely polished hair style that left me crying happy tears. The other thing about Carbon Salon is that each individual working there loves their job, and it shows. I have a lot of hair and it took quite a bit of time to complete, but Jessy never once made me feel like I was inconveniencing her or slowing her down. Instead, she was insanely organized and, if the other professionals noticed a need to keep things moving with my hair journey, they volunteered to help. I walked away blown away by the kindness and professionalism of the staff, aesthetic of the salon, and above all, the results. As long as I am in Texas, I will be a client of Carbon Salon. I have had a horrible experience with Gayla at sprout salons. She charged me $2800 just to…read morepurchase 8 wefts of 22" hair. Turns out she was marking up the hair 100%! This is unheard of. Unfortunately, that did not include the dye or the install; which was another $600. For some reason, I actually thought the hair was that expensive, until someone showed me an invoice where they purchased 22 inch strands of humanity hair for $170 per weft. She also did not match my hair and I have short hair, yet she installed hair with 3 inch dark roots. I looked like an idiot. I had to go to another salon to cut my hair to blend with the extensions as she could not fit me in for 5 days; her suggestion was to add another row of hair to help blend (this was the last thing needed- I didn't need more hair; I needed a proper hair cut to blend). My beads started popping through the extensions by week 2. By week 7 my wefts were coming undone (see photo). Attached are copies of the invoices she sent to me to purchase the hair and a copy of what strands of humanity charges for 22" weft of the strand (which is what she installed on me). The first invoice was for six wefts, she then charged me an additional $700 to get an additional two wefts of hair because six wefts would not have worked. I didn't realize I was being bamboozled until I saw how much strands of humanity charges. I have never had such a bad experience with hair extensions. Tip and everything I spent $3700 for hair that I wouldn't wear if someone paid me. (The strands of humanity hair is great, however the hair she chose for me doesn't match my actual hair and the install was below par). Gayla ruined hair extensions for me. I had them removed today. $3700 down the drain!

I brought in a photo of exactly what I wanted and even called ahead to confirm. The first stylist completely ignored my request. I told her during the appointment that it wasn't what we discussed, but nothing changed. I woke up the next morning--two days before my wedding--still hating my hair. I called the manager right at 9 AM to ask if someone could fix it before the big day. The stylist had promised a dark color, but it came out completely wrong. I wasn't able to get in until the following Monday, after my wedding. The manager did a much better job, but it still wasn't what I originally asked for. I then spoke with the owner, and that's when things truly went downhill. She was incredibly rude and dismissive, telling me I was just "an unhappy customer who can never be satisfied." I had visible dye stains on my forehead and cheek, and my hair looked nothing like the photo I provided. I even had a bald spot, which I documented in photos. After seeing the pictures, the owner agreed to issue a refund. But when I asked when I could come in to receive it, she said she'd "make an appointment." I followed up for two days asking what time worked for her, and she replied that she's only in the salon one day a month and I needed to be patient. Her tone in the messages was just as rude as she was on the phone. Bottom line: the owner is the rudest I've ever dealt with, and the stylists need serious improvement. I wouldn't recommend this salon to anyone.
