Tucked in the woods on the eastern shore of Lake Whatcom lies a hidden gem known as The Fork at…read moreAgate Bay. I have been coming to this restaurant since I was a young boy, attending special family dinners or just going to get pizza after soccer practice. Now well into adulthood I still find myself coming here with my wife for an excellent dining experience, any time or day of the week. This week we decided to go in for brunch, and I couldn't think of a better place to spend a dreary Washington morning. When you walk into this cozy little restaurant the smells of fresh breads and fried potatoes invite you into an elevated breakfast experience. Our hostess sat us down at a table almost immediately with the same friendly smile and welcoming attitude that I have come to expect from the staff at the fork. After sitting down and sipping of fresh squeezed orange juice we ordered two of our favorite breakfast plates. Chicken Fried Steak, and Corned Beef Hash. The Corned Beef Hash consisted two poached eggs sitting on a heaping pile of shredded corned beef that was both crispy and tender. Typically this dish is served with peppers and onions, but on this trip my wife opted out and the chef was happy to oblige our request. I can say from prior experiences that the peppers and onions are a fantastic addition to this mix. I went with the Chicken fried steak. A classic breakfast that requires a large appetite to face on your own! The cube steak was breaded and fried with the traditional seasonings, then covered in a house made gravy that was so rich and flavorful I couldn't put my fork down. I ordered mine with over medium eggs that were cooked perfectly, something that other kitchens can rarely get right. If you are a fan of Chicken Fried Steak then you must try this one! Both of our plates came with a large portion of golden brown home fries, and a fluffy biscuit served with honey butter and a peach preserve. Our server was extremely nice and very attentive. Although the restaurant was fairly busy she made sure our every need was taken care of :) I once again left the fork feeling full, and extremely satisfied. If the doors to this amazing restaurant are open, I will definitely be coming back again and again.

Service was great...fast and friendly. Food was outstanding! We could taste the freshness in the vegetables, salsa, sauces. Chips and salsa were as good as it gets. Tried the enchiladas chipotle and suiza, both chicken and shredded beef. The chipotle sauce was excellent...smoky, spicy, flavorful. The suiza enchiladas were great too. Rice and beans were very fresh and flavorful. Also tried the carne asada tacos. They were very good....plenty of carne with very fresh cilantro and onion. The premium big mamma margaritas were excellent. Restaurant was clean, bathrooms were clean, lighting and ambience were great. We only had 3 days left on our trip when we discovered Jalapeno's. We ate there twice in 3 days....it was that good (July 5 and 6). Note: we live in Henderson Nevada.....suburb of Las Vegas. I wish we had this restaurant in our backyard....it beats all of our local Mexican restaurants. We will be back to Bellingham and we'll definitely eat at Jalapeno's again....and again.

Every bite and every ingredient of the chile verde burrito. The pork was salty, the sauce on top was salty, the cheese and tortilla...salty. And not the kind that enhances the flavor of food the salty taste that overpowers and becomes the flavor. The only few bites that were not salty was the side salad. And the pork was dry. Disappointing.

Hubs and our daughter both loved the Baja Fish Tacos (2 each & breaded), her BF enjoyed the Southwest Bowl although he did say it was a bit spicier than expected. I had a crisp fresh tasting Big Island Poke bowl; the sriracha dressing & jalapeno def gave it a nice kick. Portion sizes are perfect. Our server was attentive and prompt, super friendly. We had some yummy martinis and shared a slice of delicious key lime pie. This place is a stand alone in a large shopping center next to the cinema, plenty of well lit easy parking. We want to return to try the variety of appetizers.

Needless to say we ordered way too much food be thoroughly enjoyed it and took out leftovers home to have for lunch the next day. Can't wait to go back.

We visited Little Tokyo this week after a several year absence (due to the pandemic), and were very…read morepleasantly surprised. We had remembered it as a casual neighborhood place with just okay cuisine. The first thing we noticed as we entered was that the somewhat updated restaurant was filled with customers (not common before), including more than a few Asian families. We, luckily, got the last available table and were seated immediately. Next, we discovered that the menu had been expanded, with more entrée choices (but less sushi choices). We chose the delux bento meals, at $18.99. It included miso soup (before the bento), a green salad, three goyza, vegetable and shrimp tempura with dipping sauce, beef teriyaki, and - of course - rice. All pretty typical of a bento plate (note: the regular bento, at $16.99, includes some California roll sushi slices instead of the goyza and tempura). The portions were more than ample, but that wasn't the best part: the food was absolutely delicious. The tempura was light and not at all greasy. It included a huge prawn, and large slices of yam, hubbard squash, large green beens, and a floret of broccoli. The goyza were filled with chicken and vegetables and were also deliciously light fried and ungreasy. The beef teriyaki was very ample and deliciously barbecued and seasoned like Korean bulgogi. Service was also attentive, efficient (especially for the number of customers), and very friendly. All-in-all, it was way elevated from years ago! It will now be our definite go-to Japanese restaurant in Bellingham!

The salmon & tuna app we tried was fresh and delish. The wine and miso soup were good, too. And the service was friendly and fast. I don't know that this is a destination sushi restaurant for me, as their options are extremely limited in the fish department, with few if not zero creative options like you see at other places. I mean, they only have hamachi on certain days of the week (and sadly, not on the day we visited)! I think if they upped their game a bit they could really be a destination local sushi joint.
