When they do need surgical intervention, we never feel as though we've been ripped off and always get the best service. Our Labrador may not concur as since the big snip she's not wanted to step through the surgery door. Oh yes, they do remember! However, she never has a choice and actually, she would probably agree that there are some incredibly good things to sniff in the waiting room including any other animals who might be waiting, or the dog chow and toys for sale. Sometimes, if she's really good, she gets a treat before she sees Steve. Always after the visit and this is what makes it worthwhile, in the eyes of a Labrador, to visit the vet.

Stuff that. I don't drive (part blind), had caught the bus. On the return bus ride home, drove past this place so got off the bus, walked in without an appointment, explained what happened and these guys looked after me from the get-go. Vaccinated my kitten, asked all the right questions re: eating and toilet habits, gave great care advice and were highly professional. Unbelieveable. Guaranteed return customer here. Won't name-drop the other vet but will leave feedback on this forum for them.

Dr. Chris is the sole vet and he tends to all the animals. I really like this about the Normanby vets because it's always the same person looking after your pet. We have returned here with our cat ever since the free neutering day and we have always been really happy with the care our cat receives and the prices. This vet doesn't seem focused on profit like some others I have been to in the past. Their website is also really thoughtful offering tips and advice on how to care for your pets from fireworks to ageing to weight control it just shows they are always looking to help.

Not only are they great with your treasured pet while it is there, St Lukes Vets also provide brilliant follow up service. When my cats went to this vet to get fixed, they rang the next day to make sure both the kittens were doing okay, and a few months later we got follow up letters that were actually addressed to the kittens. It was too cute! Like most vets, the staff at this veterinary clinic are also very caring and trustworthy. You really feel like your pets are receiving the best care at St Lukes Veterinary Clinic. Though not necessarily the easiest place to get in and out of on a busy day due to being located right by the Westfield shopping mall, it's still definitely worth persevering with! Bonus: St Lukes Vet Clinic is open six days a week, so don't panic if you can't get there during the week, they're for a while on Saturdays too!

He arrived a week after we did, however we still didn't have a place for several weeks after our arrival, so he lived with these lovely people until then. The were situated down the road in Mt Eden at that stage, having since updated the cattery facilities to house more furry visitors in the Three Kings new premise. My cat loves people and attention so much that when we take him to the vet they can rarely check his heart beat for the over powering purrrr of happiness coming out of him, so I knew that he would win all the staff over with his loveliness, but of course I was still a bit nervous. The staff here really did go out of their way to help us settle in and accommodate our precarious situation, I was, and still am very appreciative of that. We would often arrive for visits and our boy was sitting on the reception desk making himself quite at home! I have rated Auckland Cat Practice particularly in regards to their cattery and staff, kindness and attention to detail were exceptional.

Both the vets here are lovely and have the combination of skill and friendliness you want in a vet. Sue is caring and seems to love animals, and always makes you feel reassured your pet is in good hands. The newer vet, is a younger lady but seems to know exactly what she is doing. And I liked that she remembered my dog when after not having come in for a few months. The nurses are always helpful when you call and will give you advice. It's a busy vet, which I prefer, but they'll always squeeze you in. I also left my cat in the cattery for a couple of nights and he was well taken care of after he had a big operation. Great people.

One of my cats was acting funny a few months ago - they looked sleepy all the time and were off their food. I was concerned so I took him down to our Vet who immediately diagnosed an abcess on his face. Turns out he had he been fighting with other cats outside and a wound had got infected. The Vet treated the wound and gave him an injection of antibiotics - within about three days he was back to himself and we were all relieved. I can't speak for other vets as I have not dealt directly with them but this place is very reputable and the staff are very friendly. You can tell they are all passionate about animals when you arrive which is always a good sign.

Also being a vet nurse myself, there are certain ways to hold cats depending on what needs to be assessed or medicated etc. As it was to do with the ears, you actually do have to put quite a bit of restraint to get medication in there. With cats, they may be fine with the owner but when it comes to a stranger, it's quite difficult to hold the animal in place AS WELL as medicate accordingly without causing any harm to ourselves or the patient. They are well known as exotic specialists. So best place to take your small animals, birds, reptiles, rodents etc. I go to mt albert pet doctors (which are now based at Lynfield Pet Doctors or the new exotic referral center in St Lukes) and trust them completely with my fur babies.

So, when the time was needed, my poor big boof of a cat needed some treatment for his ears I went on in on a weeknight. The reception staff were friendly and helpful but the Vet himself was not. He didn't introduce himself and was a bit rough handling of my boy, (defensive mother coming out). Since it was our first visit there, impressions were important. I had to push for information from the guy and the medicine I got was treatment that upon reading the label said "to be used as a last resort only", a highly dangerous anti-biotic. I tried to exercise compassion for the Vet doctor, thinking maybe he is just over worked and under paid, or has something going on in his private life, but none the less I am a bit cautious of going back there. Hence the reason I almost gave this rating two stars only. They have recently informed me that they have changed their name, it use to be called Mount Albert Vet Hospital, preferring to be listed as 'Pet Doctor's Mt Albert'.
